With so many historic studios in the area, it might be difficult to pick just one to visit.

STUDIO TOURS

Interestingly enough, there are quite a few differences between the tours offered at each studio, and that should make it easier to figure out which tour best fits your expectations.

Ticket prices vary from $62 per person to literally thousands of dollars.

However, 3 of the tours, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, and Universal Studios are included for free or at a lower cost in several tourist attraction passes. 

It's also worth noting that the length of these tours can run from roughly an hour to almost a week.

With all of that said, let's start talking about what each movie studio offers with their tours.

WARNER BROS. STUDIO TOUR

Below is a summary of our post on Warner Brothers Studio tours , where we also provide tips on planning your trip.

If you're in the market for a somewhat normal tour on the backlot, this might be one of your best bets.

In addition to seeing movie sets and sound stages from some of the most notable movies in film history, you'll also have the opportunity to enjoy a few specific activities.

  While on this movie studio tour, you'll be able to re-create a famous scene from the hit television show Friends , climb aboard Harry Potter 's broomstick, and even create your own Batmobile.

Warner Bros. even offers an interactive sound stage that explores the entire process of making a film from start to finish.

At three hours in length, this tour is probably the longest duration of all of the options in Hollywood.

• Hours: Every half hour from 9 am - 3:30 pm
• Duration: 3 hours
• Available in both English and Spanish

With an overall score of 4.5 out of 5 stars , it's fair to say that this Hollywood studio tour is very well rated ( read reviews here ).

Some guests have gone so far as to suggest that this trip is worth every single penny.

Visitors were typically very happy with their tour guides, referring to them as both friendly and informative. 

SONY PICTURES STUDIO TOUR

This might be the most affordable movie studio tour in Hollywood, and it's also one of the most historic. Do note, that is is a walking tour.

While on this tour, you'll see the sound stages where they recorded classics such as The Wizard of Oz and superhero flicks like Spider-man .

Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to see where Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune are recorded.

Although they don't make any promises, there's always a chance that you'll run into someone famous on this active studio back lot!

They also offer a premium tour which includes transportation via golf cart, access to the Sony Museum, a free souvenir photo, a complimentary beverage, and lower prices at the Sony Studio Store.

Tickets 

• $55 per person | $150 for the Premium tour
• Availability: Monday – Friday at 10:30 am, 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm
• Duration: 2 hours

Tip: Admission is usually included for free with the purchase of at least one Los Angeles tourist pass .

With an overall score of 4 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor, it's clear that this is a pretty popular Hollywood studio tour.

Customers really appreciated the opportunity to see several historic filming locations and learn a lot about the process of making a movie.

Although some reviewers were unhappy that this is a walking tour, others simply appreciated the opportunity to see where film history was made.

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS TOUR

This is where things get interesting, as Universal Studios has essentially made their tour one of the services offered at their amusement park.

In other words, you need to buy a ticket for Universal Studios Hollywood in order to experience this studio tour.

Clocking in at only one hour in length, this is definitely the shortest studio tour available. Check out this video of Stephen Spielberg giving a tour of the site.

In addition to seeing the back lot, you'll also experience attractions such as the Jaws ride, King Kong 360 in 3D, Bates Motel and Fast & The Furious : Supercharged.

Although it will cost more to take this tour, it's worth noting that your ticket lasts all day and guarantees access to all of the rides.

• Availability: Daily from 8 am - 6 pm
• Duration: 1 hour

Despite the higher price tag, this movie studio tour has still received quite excellent ratings ( read reviews here ). The overall Universal Studios Hollywood experience has a score of 4.7 out of 5 stars .

A few visitors have even suggested that this trip around the studio is worth the price of admission.

Although most customers feel that the ticket price is a bit high, even the critics can't deny that they had a blast. 

PARAMOUNT PICTURES STUDIO TOUR

Unlike the other movie studios, Paramount Pictures offers three different studio tours.

The main tour is 2 hours long and covers quite a lot of ground on the backlot.

However, if you want to experience more, their VIP tour lasts for 4 ½ hours and includes access to several additional areas.

The VIP tour also provides a gourmet lunch at a unique location in the studio.

Alternatively, you can also choose a 2 ½ hour night tour that reveals a lot of historic locations such as notable theaters and original film vaults.

No matter which option you choose, you'll learn a lot about the history of Paramount.

• $65 for the studio tour | $215 for the VIP tour
• Availability of Studio tour: Mon-Fri, every half hour from 9 AM - 3:30 PM
• Availability of VIP tour: Mon, Wed, Fri at 9:30 AM
• Duration of Studio tour: 2 hours

Reviews for the Paramount Pictures Studio tours are very positive, averaging a rating of 4 ½ out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor. 

Some visitors referred to the excursion as a movie buff's dream, while others were just impressed with how much they learned and discovered.

Some reviewers indicated that Paramount alters the tour slightly depending on the season, ensuring a nice variety of topics and locations to cover no matter when you decide to buy a ticket.

ADVENTURES BY DISNEY: DISNEY BACKSTAGE

You had to figure that Disney was going to be a little more expensive, but the actual cost of this week-long experience might shock you.

To be fair, the package includes meals and accommodation at both the Loews Hollywood Hotel and Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

This Disney backstage adventure includes a tour of the Walt Disney Studios & Archives, an Imagineering tour, a Hollywood walking tour, and a tour of the Jim Henson Company.

Most of these tours are only available via this week-long package. The entire itinerary takes six days to complete, and it will keep you busy with plenty of fun activities from start to finish.

As you can probably imagine, the testimonials for this experience are quite positive ( read reviews here ).

Some guests even noted that they made friends with their tour guides and continue to stay in touch with them to this very day.

Additionally, customers also appreciated the opportunity to see some behind-the-scenes areas that bring the history of Walt Disney to life.

One visitor even suggested that this trip allowed them to become kids again as they explored secret and wonderful locations at the happiest place on earth.

COMBO DEALS

If you're looking for a better price on these tours and other activities in Hollywood, you might want to consider one of the following combo packages.

Studios like Warner Bros. and Universal often work with tour companies to provide their services at lower prices.

There are several options to mull over, and almost all of them provide additional tours and services.

If you plan on spending more than one day in Hollywood, these combo deals are definitely worth a look.

GO CITY LOS ANGELES ALL-INCLUSIVE PASS

There's a reason that this is one of the premier attraction passes in Los Angeles.

In addition to offering access to a variety of notable locations, they also provide admission to some studio tours.

In particular, you can enjoy the Universal Studios tour, the Warner Bros. Studio tour and (sometimes) the Sony Pictures Studio tour with one version of this pass or another.

The Warner Bros. Studio tour is currently only offered with their Explorer Pass, and you'll need to purchase at least a 3-Day All-Inclusive pass to get admission to the Universal Studios tour .

Given that this tourist pass also supplies tickets to Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm, it's fair to say that the Go City Los Angeles All-Inclusive Pass could be a real bargain.

TRANSPORTATION COMBO PACKAGES

If you're looking for transportation to and from each movie studio tour, the following services are available.

The advantage of these combo deals is that you won't have to pay for parking, gas, or car rental in order to visit each location.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included with each package.

Take your time and enjoy the studio tour without having to worry about anything else!

CELEBRITY HOMES TOUR COMBO PACKAGES

These combo deals provide both a celebrity home tour and a movie studio tour.

Each option includes transportation not only around Hollywood but also to and from the studios.

While some of these services use a mini-bus, others drive you around town in a luxury sedan or an SUV.

Each company offers both hotel pickup and drop-off.

Expect these outings to last for between 6-8 hours on average.

This might be a good way to save even more money if you don't mind doing a bit of driving around Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

• Stages/Offices

Studio Center History

May 1928 Mack Sennett, silent film producer and director, opens his new movie studio at this location (now Ventura Boulevard and Radford Avenue). His previous studio on Glendale Boulevard was the home of the Keystone Kops, Charlie Chaplin, W.C.Fields and Fatty Arbuckle. The area was being developed, and the opening of the studio made sufficient impact that the surrounding area became known as Studio City. The studio consisted of one office building, a projection room / film editing building, a film library, a two-storey dressing room building attached to a large soundstage, a wardrobe building, garage, and a stage with a sunken swimming pool.

1929 With the advent of sound, Sennett was the first producer to use RCA equipment, with which he produced a collection of singing short subject films with a young unknown named Bing Crosby.

around 1933 The Great Depression forced Sennett to file bankruptcy and the studio became an independent production facility. Mascot Pictures, under the direction of Nat Levine, was one of the principal tenants, specialising in Saturday Matinee serials, with cliffhanger endings.

1935 Monogram Pictures merged with Mascot Pictures, Consolidated Film Corporation and several other independent producers to form Republic Pictures Corporation. The studio lot was renamed Republic Studios. By this time there were six sound stages and several more support buildings. Republic specialised in B-movies, producing over fifth features a year, including Westerns introducing new stars Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and John Wayne.

1950s With the advent of television in the early 1950’s, Republic entered a new medium and produced a number of series. By this time there were twenty-three sound stages and the largest scoring studio in the world. Republic leased some of this studio space to Revue Productions, which filmed many early television series on the lot (including early episodes of  Leave it to Beaver ) before Revue’s owner, MCA acquired Universal Pictures and moved Revue’s television production to Universal City.

1963 The CBS Television Network entered into an agreement with Republic Studios whereby CBS became the major lessee and the facility was renamed CBS Studio Center.

April 1967 By 1967 CBS decided to purchase the studio and long range improvement plans began. The renamed CBS Studio Center continued to grow and throughout the 60’s and 70’s such television classics as Gunsmoke, Big Valley, Gilligan’s Island, Get Smart, My Three Sons, Bob Newhart, and Mary Tyler Moore were produced at the Studio.

1971 To help cover the costs of this investment, CBS rented out part of the lot to independent producers, and MTM Enterprises (Mary Tyler Moore and Grant Tinker) became the Studio Center’s primary tenant, with The Mary Tyler Moore Show beginning filming, along with spin-offs Rhoda, Phyllis and Lou Grant.

July 1982 CBS formed a partnership with 20th Century Fox to share ownership of the Studio Center, renaming it as CBS/Fox Studios.

January 1985 Fox sold it’s interest of the Studio Center to MTM, renaming it CBS-MTM Studios. Shows produced on the lot during the 80’s included Roseanne, Different World, Thirtysomething, St. Elsewhere, Newhart, Hill Street Blues and Falcon Crest.

March 1992 The lot became CBS Studio Center once again when MTM sold it’s interest back to CBS. Seinfeld, Grace Under Fire, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Cybill, and Caroline in the City are just a few of the shows which called CBS Studio Center home during the 90’s. Features such as Father of the Bride 2, Dr. Doolittle, and I Love Trouble were also filmed on the Studio lot.

mid 1990s The piece of land at the northwestern edge of the lot, where the lagoon scenes were filmed for Gilligan’s Island, was paved over the make room for a new parking structure.

1997-9 Architects Bastien & Associates Inc. worked on a range of projects at CBS Studio Center:

[Show slideshow] 2007 The Studio Center becomes the base for CBS’s Los Angeles flagship TV station, KCBS-TV, along with sister station KCAL-TV, as they vacate Columbia Square to move into a newly-built, fully digital studio facility located where the house for the CBS reality series Big Brother once stood.

Taylor Swift had a "magical" time in Madrid , Spain. The pop star reflected on her latest Eras Tour stop on Friday, jokingly shouting from her proverbial rooftop. 

"I LOVE YOU FOREVER MADRID!!! No ability to convey my thoughts other than to just YELL that," she wrote in an Instagram caption,  sharing a carousel of images from the shows. "We just got to spend 2 magical nights dancing and singing with the most electrifying, passionate crowds and I’ll never forget a second of it. I can't thank you all enough. See you 🔜 Lyon!"

Swift performed back-to-back shows at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, Spain, on Wednesday and Thursday. For the first night , she received support in the crowd from longtime pal Blake Lively and the HAIM sisters, Este Haim, Alana Haim and Danielle Haim. 

On Thursday, Lively was joined by her husband , Ryan Reynolds , for his first Eras outing. The Deadpool   actor previously revealed that he was "excited" to attend the concert. 

"I'm about to go to the Madrid show," Reynolds said in an interview on  Today With Hoda and Jenna   earlier this month. "Very excited, my wife and kids have been to five of them, five or six now."

The couple share James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and a fourth child  whose name has not been revealed .  Swift famously name-dropped Lively and Reynolds' daughters in her 2020  Folklore  song, "Betty." In the fictional tale of high school love, the 34-year-old pop star named the three key characters after  her longtime friends'  kids. She performed that song during her first concert in Madrid.

In a separate interview on  Today , Reynolds previously joked that  he and Lively were waiting on Swift to tell them the name of their fourth baby  after co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb asked if the child got a name-check on the singer's newest album,  The Tortured Poets Department . 

ET's Rachel Smith  later followed up with Reynolds  about the youngster's moniker, asking what they're calling them while they wait for Swift to pick an official name. 

"Oh, all the letters are silent," he quipped. "It just sort of sounds like a light breeze blowing through at this point, which is really hard if you get mad at the child for something...Yeah, it doesn't work."

The "Fortnight" singer continues the European leg of her Eras tour with a return to France at Groupama Stadium on June 2 and 3. 

Earlier this month, Swift performed at the Paris La Défense Arena as boyfriend Travis Kelce looked on. During her 87th Eras Tour show -- a significant number as it coincides with Kelce's jersey for the Kansas City Chiefs -- the 34-year-old songstress appeared to pay tribute to her beau's team colors with her wardrobe, donning a glittery yellow and red two-toned costume during the  1989  portion of her set. (For his part, Kelce  has previously said  that  1989  is his favorite album of Swift's.)

A source told ET, "Taylor's 87th show had significance not only for the reference to Travis's football jersey number, but because of the many Easter eggs hidden in the show about Travis. This was also the first time Travis was able to hear songs live that are rumored to be about him, and he was thrilled."

Since the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , in April, Swift has  largely revamped her live show  to include several songs from the album. Naturally,  Kelce was seen grooving along  as she sang two songs rumored to be about their relationship: " So High School " and " The Alchemy ." 

More recently,  a source told ET  this month that excitement has been brewing about the couple's future together. 

"Taylor and Travis are doing amazing, and their loved ones see an engagement coming sooner than later," the source said. "They make a great match and there's no question about that."

Trump press conference livestream: Watch as former president discusses conviction

One day after he was found guilty on all 34 counts in his New York criminal  hush money trial , former President Donald Trump is expected to give a press conference Friday morning.

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, was found guilty by a jury Thursday of falsifying business records to hide a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election. He is the first former U.S. president to be convicted of a crime.

“This is just a disgrace,”  Trump told reporters  in the hallway outside the courtroom after he was convicted. “We didn’t do anything wrong. I’m an innocent man.”

SAN ANTONIO – Superstar Jennifer Lopez was expected to bring her “This Is Me... Now: The Tour” to San Antonio this summer. Now, Lopez’s entire tour has been canceled.

Entertainment publication Variety cited a newsletter Lopez sent to her fans announcing the tour’s cancellation on Friday. Live Nation, Lopez’s tour promoter, said she canceled the tour to spend more time “with her children, family and close friends.”

In the newsletter, Lopez said she was “heartsick” about canceling the tour.

“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” Lopez wrote. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again.”

Lopez, a singer and actress, was expected to perform on July 5 at Frost Bank Center.

Live Nation said Friday that fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded. Fans who bought tickets via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub or VividSeats will have to reach to out those services for more details, the tour promoter said.

A previous news release from Live Nation stated the “Selena” star was expected to include songs from her new album, “This Is Me...Now,” and past hits on her tour.

“This Is Me...Now” was Lopez’s first studio album in nearly a decade. Additionally, her movie, “This Is Me...Now: A Love Story” was released on Amazon back in February.

Lopez last went on tour in 2019.

Lopez was expected to make tour stops in the following Texas cities:

• July 2: The Moody Center in Austin
• July 3: Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg
• July 5: Frost Bank Center in San Antonio
• July 6: American Airlines Center in Dallas
• Aug. 31: Toyota Center in Houston

After months of iffy weather across much of the globe, summer is nearly here in North America. And, lucky for its residents, many standout artists are looking to take advantage of the sunshine with some live tours.

Alanis Morissette

One of Canada's most well-known musical exports is hitting the road again. Alanis Morissette will navigate venues across the United States during her "Triple Moon Tour," which will feature 33 dates running from June to August. Morissette will not go it alone, though, as she will be accompanied on stage by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts alongside singer Morgan Wade. Morissette released her tenth LP in 2022, but the "Triple Moon Tour" will mostly be in tribute to the 25th anniversary of her fourth studio album, "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie," which was released to critical acclaim in 1998. 

While "Family Guy" may have once described him as "just some guy with a hat," singer Jason Mraz is the recipient of two Grammy Awards and remains one of the most popular guitarists and singers of the last decade. Beginning in June, Mraz will venture on his "Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride Summer 2024," with shows in more than 25 locations in the United States and Canada through August. The artist behind the hit single "I'm Yours" named his upcoming tour after his 2023 LP of the same name, his eighth studio album overall and his first in three years.

Chicago/Earth, Wind & Fire

Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire , two of the most popular bands of the 1970s, are combining for a mega-concert journey, the "Heart & Soul Tour," from July to September. Each leg of the tour will feature the "timeless music of Chicago and the iconic catalog of Earth, Wind & Fire," according to the band's website , and will "culminate in an encore performance with both bands on stage together." This timeless music will likely feature hits from both groups, including iconic soul soundtracks like "September" and "Shining Star" from Earth Wind & Fire, and rock ballads like "You're the Inspiration" from Chicago. Combined, both groups have won 11 Grammy Awards and sold more than 200 million albums. 

Melissa Etheridge/Jewel

Singer Melissa Etheridge has won dozens of accolades and played thousands of venues over her decades-long career, and now she is getting ready to head back on the road. She is teaming with singer Jewel to launch the duo's summer 2024 tour . The tour covers the majority of the summer and runs from July to the beginning of October, with locations throughout the United States and Canada. Etheridge, perhaps best known for her 1993 single "Come to My Window," last released a studio album in 2021, but does not appear anywhere near the end of her journey. 

Mannequin Pussy 

Philly's punk rock icons are returning to the stage with a new tour. Mannequin Pussy will be embarking on their "I Got Heaven Tour" throughout July and August; the group will begin with shows in the U.K. and Europe before heading home to the United States and Canada, where they will play a series of shows before crisscrossing back to Europe again. Mannequin Pussy's music is "built on big emotions and inside jokes," said The New York Times , and the group is touring to promote their most recent studio album and fourth LP, "I Got Heaven," which was released earlier this year. 

Foo Fighters

Dave Grohl and his band the Foo Fighters will be traveling down a sonic highway when they embark on their "Everything or Nothing at All Tour" in July and August. The tour comes a year after the group released their 11th LP, "But Here We Are," dedicated to both Grohl's mother Virginia and deceased band member Taylor Hawkins . The Foo Fighters will be playing shows in Manchester, Glasgow, London and other cities in the United Kingdom before playing a series of concerts in the United States. Once in America, the group, which was born out of the iconic 1990s grunge band Nirvana, will play 14 shows in 11 different cities.

Undoubtedly one of the most unique bands on this list, the psychedelic rock group Phish has formed one of the most loyal followings in music over a 40-year career (Drew Carey "talked to God" after seeing them, the television host said on X ). Now, Phish will grace the stage again with their summer 2024 tour in the United States, which will run from July to the beginning of September and will coincide with the release of their 16th LP, "Evolve," set to drop on July 12. This will mark the group's first official studio album in four years, though they did release a 2022 album under a different name. 

Green Day released their 14th studio album, "Saviors," earlier this year, and they are not wasting any time promoting it. The punk rock icons are venturing on a concert tour of the same name from July 19 to Sept. 28. The band will play their popular LPs "Dookie" and "American Idiot" in their entirety, and it is very much a global endeavor: Green Day will play venues in Spain, France, Germany, the U.K., Austria and more before crossing the pond to play shows across the United States and Canada. The band is keeping busy now, as they recently headlined a UN-backed climate concert in San Francisco. 

Kings of Leon

Many of the biggest names touring this summer are rock bands, and Kings of Leon are no exception. The Nashville-based group will head out on a summer 2024 tour from August to mid-October, beginning in European destinations such as the U.K., Austria, Ireland and France before playing 27 cities in the United States and Canada. The tour will be supporting Kings of Leon's ninth studio album, "Can We Please Have Fun," which was released this past February. Notably, this is the band's first album to not be released via their original recording label, RCA. 

You can usher in the end of the summer on a high note by seeing one of the most notable R&B singers of all time, as Usher is embarking on his "Past Present Future" tour beginning at the end of August. The singer is riding high after a notable performance in February at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, the city where Usher also held multiple residencies totaling 100 shows. Usher will tour cities throughout the United States on his concert venture and is planning on touring Europe throughout 2025. His ninth LP, "Coming Home," was released to coincide with his Super Bowl performance.
