Got an Openreach engineer coming?

Here's what to expect when we come to your home, keeping you informed before the visit.

You may receive text messages or emails from Openreach to remind you that your service provider has booked an engineer appointment for you, allow you to confirm, change or cancel it, provide tips that may help to sort out any problems, or remind you to plug in your router where necessary.

We've listed the numbers/email address you'll see below so you can check that any messages you receive are from us:

Your engineer will call or text you beforehand to check you’re in and see if they need to know anything about your address (like access or parking). The engineer will also tell you roughly when they’ll be there (within the timeslot your broadband or phone provider gave you).

On the day of your appointment

You may receive messages on the day of your appointment giving you updates on engineer progress from the below phone numbers:

Your engineer will call or text you beforehand to check you’re in, see if there’s anything they need to know about your address (like access or parking) and tell you roughly when they’ll be there (within the timeslot your broadband or phone provider gave you).

When they arrive

Before you let the engineer in, it’s a good idea to check their ID badge to make sure they’re really from Openreach. Some of our new engineers drive plain white vans so the ID badge is the best way to identify them.

Once you’ve checked they’ll talk you through what they’ll be doing. If they need to, they’ll agree with you where to put any equipment and talk about options for wiring.

When they’re finished, they’ll check everything is up and running as it should be. And they’ll clean up any mess they’ve made before they go.

Don’t give out any financial details

We won’t ever ask you for bank details. So if anyone contacts you saying they’re from Openreach and asks for financial information, don’t give it to them.

What to do if you need a broadband engineer visit

Broadband engineer visits to your home are rare, but certain steps will simplify the process if and when it’s necessary.

Signing up to a new broadband provider is often an impersonal process.

Many companies offer online sign-up, and despite the best efforts of door-to-door salespeople and in-store sales advisors, customers are more likely to enter a contract over the phone than in person.

Broadband equipment is posted out, notice to your existing ISP is provided on your behalf, and a series of emails will welcome you to the new provider and handle account registration.

Switchovers are handled remotely, rarely involving face-to-face contact. Indeed, you might not see a single ISP employee until something goes seriously wrong.

If technical support teams fail to resolve an issue over the phone, or a problem is diagnosed via online checks, a broadband engineer visit to your home might be suggested.

But how should you approach the prospect of a broadband engineer visit? What’s required in advance, what’s likely to happen on the day, and how can you help them to help you?

Before the visit

If the visit will involve access inside your property, ensure an adult will be at home who understands why the engineer is visiting.

If you’re asking for help with an existing problem, gather any notes or correspondence together. The engineer will have their own notes, but may welcome extra information.

Ensure any areas they need to visit are clean and accessible, with clutter banished elsewhere. Run a duster over surrounding skirting boards, and vacuum nearby floors.

Ensure pets are shut away – some people are fearful of dogs, while cats have an annoying habit of getting in the way due to insatiable curiosity.

You might also want to open a few windows to get fresh air in, since many people’s attitudes to home visits have changed during the pandemic.

During the visit

First impressions count, so answering the door with a friendly greeting and a smile will grease the wheels of any subsequent conversations.

Invite the engineer in. If your floors are precious, offer shoe covers or politely ask them to remove their boots, though some firms advise staff against the latter on health and safety grounds.

Offer them a drink, even if they have to decline due to their company’s COVID policy. It’s good manners, and people subconsciously work harder when they feel appreciated.

If this is a first visit, show the engineer where everything is. Ask if you can give them any more information, and then retreat to a safe distance – ideally a neighbouring room.

No engineer wants a customer hovering over their shoulder. Tell them to shout on you if they need help, and let them tackle what’s often a complex and technical job without interruption.

Unless this is the person who caused whatever problem you’re experiencing, don’t launch into complaints. They’re here to help, and what’s happened before is beyond their control.

Patience is also a virtue. Asking “are you done yet?” is unlikely to go down well considering they’re not deliberately prolonging their stay.

Be aware that they’re doing a job just like anyone else.

If they say they’re going to work through lunch to get the job finished, express gratitude. If they ask to borrow a ladder, fetch it immediately. Treat them how you’d expect to be treated yourself.

After the visit

Thank them for coming, show them out, and make a few notes on who visited you and what they said. This will be useful if the situation persists, and further engineer visits are required.

Don’t assume any problems will be instantly resolved. It may take time for hardware to fully reboot, or further engineering work might be needed at the local exchange.

If you’re unhappy with the standard of work, take photographic evidence (your camera or smartphone should automatically date-stamp it) and forward it onto the company’s customer services division.

Conversely, if you’re pleased with the engineer’s work, provide positive feedback. They’re often judged on customer comments, so give praise where it’s due.

Setting up your Business Smart Hub

Engineer visit.

If we've arranged for an engineer to set-up your broadband, there's no need to do anything. Just have your Hub ready for when they arrive.

Doing it yourself

Don't do anything until your BT broadband or fibre service is working (if you're having a new service, we'll tell you when it's ready).

Unplug all your old kit

To get the fastest possible speed with the new Hub, unplug all your old broadband kit including the power plug, micro-filters, and cable.

Connect your new Hub to the phone socket

Plug one end of the broadband cable (the one with grey ends) into your Hub and the other into your master phone socket.

  • A master socket is the main socket for the phone line in your premises (not an extension socket).
  • Some master sockets have two ports; some have one. If yours is a single master socket, you'll need to use a micro-filter.

Plug it in and turn it on

Slide the two parts of the Hub's power plug together until they click into place then connect it to the Hub, plug it in, and turn it on using the power button on the back of the Hub.

  • Only use the plug that came with your new Hub.
  • The light on the front will change colours while your Hub sets itself up. This takes a few minutes.

You're online

Your Hub is ready as soon as the light turns to a steady blue.

  • If it doesn't turn steady blue see help connecting to the internet .

When you connect a device to your Hub for the first time, your web browser will let you manage any of your BT Business Extras.

More than a sports car, it's a design masterpiece and engineering marvel more than four and a half decades in the making. For 2025, Toyota Canada offers two no-holds-barred models featuring a race-ready 3.0L powerhouse under the hood and a choice of finely honed automatic or manual transmissions.

“The GR Supra captures the legendary performance of Toyota’s sports car heritage to provide Canadians with an exhilarating driving experience – on and off the track,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “The engineers at Toyota’s Gazoo Racing high-performance team have ensured the GR Supra delivers remarkable power and handling worthy of the GR badge.”

Exhilaration starts under the hood, with a track-bred 3.0L twin-scroll turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine with active sound control that puts 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque at the driver’s command. But that’s just the start – because true performance is about more than power and grunt. That’s why the GR Supra has been meticulously engineered to achieve a nearly perfect weight balance and low centre of gravity to optimize handling. Sport-calibrated variable ratio electric power steering delivers track-worthy control, while engaging Sport Mode sharpens throttle response, makes shifts crisper, and tunes the differential more aggressively. A long list of standard-equipped performance features include Launch Control, the Hairpin+ Function for remarkable handling on tight curves, multi-link rear suspension, adaptive variable suspension systems, active rear sport differential, front strut tower bracing, hollow front and rear stabilizer bars, 4-piston Brembo brakes with red painted and SUPRA logo calipers on the front wheels, and an electric parking brake.

Performance informs design, too – which is why the GR Supra’s body style delivers both aggressive intent and aerodynamic perfection. The wide grille flanked by large air intakes and double-bubble cabin roof are signature looks that also reduce drag and enhance adhesion during spirited driving. Six-lens LED headlights integrate daytime running lights and turn signals to create a distinctive lighting signature. 19-inch frozen gunmetal rims wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires plant the GR Supra firmly on the pavement. Rain-sensing wipers and auto leveling headlamps help keep the view ahead clear, while dual rear sport exhaust outlets with active exhaust function and brushed stainless steel tips provide a suitable finish. The 2025 GR Supra comes in a range of bold body colours. All models are available in Absolute Zero, Nocturnal, Renaissance Red 2.0, Stratosphere, and CU Later – while automatic transmission GR Supras may also be ordered in Burnout.

Inside, this two-seater is definitely driver-focussed, with an asymmetrical centre console that envelopes the cockpit, complete with console-mounted side knee padding for extra bolstering when leaning into high-G corners. All models feature the Toyota Smart Key System with Push Button Start, 14-way power-adjustable and heated seats with leather upholstery, a driver’s seat memory system, leather-wrapped steering wheel on a tilting/telescoping column, dual zone automatic climate control, aluminum scuff plates, and carbon fibre interior trim. The 8.8” digital gauge instrument cluster is anchored by a 3D tachometer flanked by displays that can be customized to show key driving information, navigation, or entertainment choices. While capturing the feel of a single-seat racing car, GR Supra also ensures the navigator enjoys an open, comfortable ride.

Every 2025 GR Supra is a technology showcase. Standard features include a head-up display and a 12-speaker JBL Audio System with 8.8” touchscreen with touchpad rotary control, integrated Sirius XM Satellite Radio, Navigation with Supra Connect (including Concierge, SOS, Emergency Call, and Stolen Vehicle Recovery functions), Wireless Apple CarPlay, and a wireless charger for personal electronics.

Every GR Supra also comes with an impressive package of active and passive safety features – including a Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assist, and a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. Other safety features include a backup camera, automatic high beams, eight airbags, a child seat restraint system on the passenger seat, tire pressure monitoring system, and an anti-theft alarm system.

    Yes, as it is the first time you order FTTP (Full Fibre), you would need an Engineer install. They will bring the Fibre wire to your property and install a new ONT box which effectively replaces the Master socket in the picture.
