BERKS COUNTY’S BEST KEPT SECRETS TOUR

November 17, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.

UPCOMING TOURS November 2 -18, 2023 Tickets $11 Tickets/Bags will go on sale 2 months prior to the start of the tour $1 per ticket sold will be donated to: a local charity Only the 1st 1500 people to purchase will receive a goody bag.

HOURS Shops are required to open Mon thru Sat from 10-5 during the tour dates Eatery/Winery/Distillery are not required to hold those hours. Their hours will be posted within your tour ticket Some businesses will offer additional hours (including Sundays). Check each listing for details.

• A tour guide booklet describing the amazing small businesses, hand-picked for their uniqueness
• A map to show you how to easily get around
• Valuable Coupons from each business
• Gifts, refreshments, demos, or games etc. at each stop
• Entry forms to try and win $1,000 in gift cards (No purchase necessary. Ask a clerk for a list of rules.)

HOW DOES IT WORK? Set up like a home or garden tour, you’ll travel place to place, in your own vehicle—going where you want, when you want. Your ticket is valid the entire time—do what you can in a day or take 16 days—it’s up to you. All tour shops are open at least Monday thru Saturday from 10 to 5. Restaurants, cafes & wineries will hold the hours posted in the guide booklet. A few of the businesses will also offer Sunday hours (All hours are clearly noted in your tour guide booklet).

WHO’S PARTICIPATING? Can’t tell you! That’s part of the adventure! But we will tell you the types of places you’ll visit . . . a variety of home décor & furnishings stores, craft shops and artisan wares, a chocolatier, crystals & healing products, antiques, vintage and upcycled merchandise, consignment shops, specialty shops geared towards outdoor living, gifts shops, clothing & jewelry boutiques, local candle makers, an over-the-top toy store . . .

PLUS . . . Handmade soaps & body products, a meadery and two awesome wineries, four local eateries, a few specialty shops and more! There is something for everyone!

Every tour is different. We are always finding new tucked away treasures to share with you. There truly is something for everyone!

Best Kept Secrets Tour of Berks County

A shopping/food and fun adventure featuring 40 off-the-beaten path businesses, hand-picked for their uniqueness. Set up like a home or garden tour, you’ll travel place to place enjoying all the special free things (refreshments, games, gifts, demos, etc) the businesses have planned for you. Plus, each place has given you a valuable coupon. You’ll be delighted by what you find tucked away in the countryside! This year, the Art & Craft Gallery of Hamburg will be located on the Best Kept Secrets Tour of Berks County. The Gallery, assisted by members of the Hamburg Area Arts Alliance, will host the following events for tour participants:

November 2, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm – Add-a-Square Art Quilt Raffle Fabric artist Martha Ressler invites tour participates to choose a square of fabric to add to the art quilt she is making. Receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win the finished piece. The winning ticket will be drawn at the end of the day. 

November 4, 1:00 pm – Sheila Dunleavy, Featured Artist Sheila Dunleavy, one of November’s Featured Artists, will offer a pastel demonstration and presentation on “Landscapes We Live In.”  

November 7, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm – Christmas Ornament Workshop Susan Boyer of Susan’s Ceramics will be offering tour participants a chance to paint their own ceramic Christmas ornament to take along with them.

  November 18, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm – Chippy Chipmunk Feels Empathy – Book Signing by author Kathy Miller Kathy will sign copies of her latest book in the Chippy Chipmunk series, Chippy Chipmunk Feels Empathy . The Chippy Chipmunk mascot will be here for great photos! In addition, Kathy is offering a free gift with purchase.

How Does it Work? 

In your own vehicle, you’ll travel to a diversity of delightful businesses during the shopping/food & fun adventure. Your ticket is valid the entire time—do what you can in a day or take several days—it’s up to you.

Who’s Participating?

Can’t tell you!  That’s part of the ADVENTURE! But we can tell you there will be . . . gift & home accessory stores in barns, log cabins, old factories, mansions, private homes or stone mills, farmers’ markets, farms with products and animals, unique cafes, gourmet food shops, orchards, wineries, specialty shops, artists’ galleries, potters’ studios, factory stores, greenhouses, vintage shops, woodworking shops, antique stores, clothing, jewelry and more. Every tour is different. We’re always finding new tucked-away treasures to share with you!

Tickets are $12 each (on sale 2 months prior to the start of the tour).  Every ticket is a booklet that entitles you to all the perks of the tour and contains the name, address & brief description of each business, a map to help you find your way, the calendar of events, and entry forms for tour drawings & coupons from every business.

Plus, your participation not only helps support small businesses and the local economy, but it also directly benefits a charity. $1 per ticket sold is always donated to a local non-profit .
