I was stoked they had the fish stringer I've been looking for. Nice and hot looking tender that help me too.

Aqua Safaris new management is AWESOME! They are friendly and knowledgeable in a kick back way. As a novice diver, sometimes I go there just to glean diving wisdom. The staff is very gracious and accommodating. They take the time to patiently explain things clearly. I've never taken a course from them, yet they've allowed me to practice setting up a tank to one of their BC's without a major purchase in the horizon. One time, I brought in my BC (which I did not purchase from these owners) but I needed to better understand it. They informed me that my integrated wt system had been recalled. I had no idea! And, they replaced it without any charge. When I do purchase items, I appreciate how the staff helps me make the best decision for myself rather than their cash register. Thanks to the Cooper trio (Charles, Caitlin, Jayme) and Mara for exceptional customer service!

I got my gear serviced here and it was a good experience. It was completed on time and with good prices. They also helped me find out how to activate my warranty to get the replacement parts for free to save some money. The dive flag you can see from the freeway is also a good way to find it if you are going for the first time (it is upside down though).

It had been a couple of decades since my last scuba dive... One of my friends invited me on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Red Sea for shark breeding season. I called Aqua Safaris to ask if I could re-certify. I was told my certification was good for life, but I could take a refresher course. It was a great class and they use the pool at SLV and Mara helped me feel completely comfortable under water again. Then, I took a Nitrox class at the shop with Caitlyn, it was also very good but not as exciting. Finally, It was recommended I take the advanced course with Boomer. It was a four day class one classroom, one day at the pool, and two days in the ocean in Monterey. I feel so confident and ready to go I can't thank them enough. I was so nervous to do my deep dive off the boat, but Boomer made me feel relaxed and ready by being super knowledgeable, funny, and confident. Everytime I tried to do things my way, I was wrong, he was right. I would not hesitate to recommend Aqua Safaris for any scuba class or buying dive gear. I might just be going back when I get home to try the dry suit!

My wife and I got our open water certs here and it was a good experience. Clare is a great, accommodating instructor and I whole-heartedly recommend her. The shop staff seem to have issues communicating at times, which was challenging as it somewhat felt like pulling teeth to give them money I owed them. Otherwise, they are awesome, friendly, knowledgeable folks. As for the description of the rude, unprofessional woman working the counter as mentioned in that other post, it is definitely true. There was one individual that was incredibly difficult to interact with at the shop. I don't remember her name, but she must be related to the owners or something, because the horrible vibe she gives off is toxic to small businesses like this and it needs to be dealt with quick.

They are my local dive shop and the only authorized SCUBAPRO dealer in SC. As a PADI SCUBA instructor, I have to say that Dede Houghton, owner of Aqua Safaris, is a very conscientious business person. She prides herself in her twenty years of operation in the Santa Cruz area and values her customers opinion and their potential for word-of-mouth business generation - as is often the case in the dive industry. I had some issues with this dive shop recently, but after discussing these things with the her, she assured me that my impression was incorrect and that my situation was unique. She was also very open and agreeable to figuring out a comfortable solution for both of us. Aqua Safaris selection of equipment for sale is good. They've got a full line of SCUBAPRO equipment as well as Mares and AquaLung. They purchase new rental equipment every year, but they do not rent snorkels, fins, or masks - you should own your own basic equipment anyhow. The repair technician, Doug, is top notch and very knowledgeable. After being serviced by Doug, my regulators were like new again. He went the extra mile to clean all the low pressure hoses, fittings, etc. Thanks Doug!

I just finished my certification with Caitlin and had a great experience. She is very skilled, tactful and patient. In addition, I think she has excellent intuition and remembers what it feels like to be a beginning diver. I look forward to working with her on future dives! Thanks Caitlin! You're awesome!

Sunday I was feeling like a terrible wife because I hadn't made a plan for my husband's 46th birthday. He doesn't love peopl-y events, and we've been low on funds, including my ATM expiring and we can't find the new one the bank says they sent to the office. Suddenly I realized Sunday was the only real day we could do something, but he was asleep still at 9am. I was racking my brain trying to think of something last minute, but good to do after all. The good news is that last week, I encouraged him to buy a great offer at our local dive shop in Modesto, for unlimited specialty classes, for his birthday, so he's pretty excited about that. So, as I was thinking of all the things I would like, but he wouldn't, I finally got around to realizing, he loves visiting new dive shops! We've only been open water and high altitude certified for a short time, and we've only been to about four shops, including our own. I quickly checked dive shops within two hours of our area, to see what would be open on a Sunday, and a fun area to visit for the day. I woke Michael up, and announced we were going to Sacramento or Santa Cruz to dive shops. He was pleased, we got ready, we hit the road! We hit the two open shops in Santa Cruz and were super happy with this one! The guy working there was fantastic! The perfect mix of helpful and leaving us to look, while answering questions extremely well, making us trust him by sharing his experience with products he likes as well as some he isn't crazy about. The shop is user friendly because things are displayed in an organized way, as well as looking like a store that is fun to find neat things in. The bathroom doubles as a spacious changing room. Because of the friendly, educational service, we were compelled to buy a 1mm wetsuit and a camera. We couldn't be happier with our experience, and will definitely return!

Very friendly and accessible owners and staff who enthusiastically support beginners through experts. Affordable lessons from basics to advanced training. 20+ years in business in Santa Cruz. All the gear you could ever need. Group trips to Monterey Bay, the Channel Islands and beyond. If you're thinking about getting certified, this place will make you feel right at home.

They rock!! I found a Groupon for them for 50% off an Open Water Scuba Certification course at Aqua Safaris. Oh, I am so glad I jumped on that! My instructors were amazing, and the store staff was also very friendly. I took the course during my last 2 weeks in Santa Cruz, but all of my diver friends go there and highly recommend Aqua Safaris over the other establishments in town. They have a great mask selection, and a pretty decent selection on all other scuba gear. Of course, they also do tank refills.
