Housing Tours
on campus housing.
Many graduate students in our program live in the Graduate and Family Housing apartments close to campus, pictured below. Grad and Family apartments are all clustered on Miramar street (with the exception of Coast Apartments). Many residents take advantage of grocery and campus-bound shuttles to get around, walk to campus (~20-30 minutes) or ride their bike (~10-15 minutes).
Most of us have lived on-campus in UCSD Graduate Student & Family Housing, but most now live off campus.
Graduate students at UCSD can live in Grad & Family Housing for a maximum of 2 years and must first enter the waitlist online. Many students get into grad housing their first quarter at UCSD, although this largely depends on which communities they prioritize on their housing application. For more FAQs, check out the official future resident page , or ask a student host!
NOTE: If you are even slightly interested in our Graduate and Family Housing, we highly recommend applying RIGHT NOW, before you have been admitted or accept an offer. Applying now adds you to the waitlist immediately and should you attend, dramatically increases your chances of getting an apartment right away. You can leave many parts of your application blank, and fill them in later! You can find the waitlist application here .

Living on-campus is an integral part of your UCSD education, more than just a place to study, eat, and sleep. All Eleanor Roosevelt College students can have this unique experience of community living in the residence halls located here at ERC, in the ERC or Village apartments, and in UCSD International House, which is located on the ERC campus. As a result, we hope you develop a concern and respect for others; make personal lifestyle decisions; share your academic and cultural experience with other students; and learn to live in a close-knit, diverse community. We believe these things are important to your success at UCSD and later in life. In order to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to achieve academic success, all residents must adhere to community guidelines that are important for successful group living. Inherent in these guidelines is our expectation that residents respect one another’s rights, abide by State law and University policies, and follow the UCSD Principles of Community. The Residence Life staff at ERC (including 29 Resident Advisors or RAs), are committed to developing a safe and positive living-learning community for residents throughout the year. The RAs and several ERC student groups plan and organize a variety of activities ranging from social events to community service programs. We encourage you to make the most of your time here by becoming an active community member! Please consult the ERC Residence Life webpages for comprehensive information on residence life, housing, and Frequently Asked Questions. We look forward to helping you make our neighborhoods your “second home”! Sincerely, Rey Guerrero

HDH commits to facilitating an equitable, diverse and inclusive environment, fostering a sense of belonging for our students and staff. As HDH we understand, each unique individual with their varied thoughts and experiences is what makes our department strong. Aligning with UC San Diego’s Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion strategic goals, HDH is proud to promote and create opportunities for greater equity, diversity and inclusiveness within our division.
