Tour Guide Barbie

Appearances [ ], toy story 2 [ ].

While Mr. Potato Head , Slinky Dog , Rex , and Hamm are driving around Al's Toy Barn in a toy car looking for Al 's office, where they plan to find Woody , they come down the Barbie aisle and Hamm asks them for help. Tour Guide Barbie dives in the car with them agrees to help them. She takes them down the Hot Wheels Aisle and then the Buzz Lightyear Aisle where they come across Utility Belt Buzz Lightyear , thinking it's Andy 's Buzz Lightyear , and give him a lift.

In the bloopers , she says goodbye to the viewers, before complaining about her cheeks killing her, having to smile so much.

  • This is also based on a real event. Because of the success of the first Toy Story , Buzz Lightyear toys had a higher demand than retailers expected.

Biography [ ]

Background [ ].

Not much is known about Tour Guide Barbie prior to Toy Story 2 .

Barbie, at some point, was put into stock by Al in Al’s Toy Barn. She later developed friendships with the other displayed Barbies in the girl’s aisle.

Toy Story 2 [ ]

In Toy Story 2 while Hamm , Rex , Mr. Potato Head , and Slinky are looking for Woody , they come across a party of Barbies in the girls toy aisle.

After some time gawking at the female toys, Hamm asks if any of them know where they can find Al of Al’s Toy Barn. Tour Guide Barbie pops out and says that she can help and enters the car. She then takes control and, without asking, decides to tour the toys around the store. Eventually, Tour Guide Barbie and the rest of the toys run into the wrong Buzz, and eventually let him in the car. At some point, Barbie finally drops the toys off at Al’s office.

In the Outtakes, Barbie is the last speaking character, and waves to the viewers and tells them what to do, and states that she and the crew hope they enjoyed the movie. Shortly after, she gives up the smiling, and states to the cameramen that she needs a break from doing so.

Personality [ ]

Tour Guide Barbie is uplifting, free spirited, and willing to help anyone in need. She likes to help people out, and is always smiling at all times.

Tour Guide Barbie

Tour Guide Barbie  is a supporting character in  Toy Story 2 .

Toy Story 2 [ ]

When Hamm, Mr. Potato Head, Rex, and Slinky Dog are lost, they drive by the pink aisle where she and all the other Barbies are partying in. As Hamm asks the Barbies for advice, Tour Guide Barbie votes to volunteer as she jumps into the car that they are driving and gives a tour around Al's Toy Barn. She is implied to be a Polygot, or at least bilingual, as she tells Rex in both English and Spanish to remain in the car after Rex disembarked from the car (to catch the manual for the video game Buzz Lightyear: Attack on Zurg), and, in a similar fashion to a scene in Jurassic Park, chased it down to get back in. Then she drives the toys into the Buzz Lightyear aisle, where they pick up the Utility Belt Buzz, not knowing that the real Buzz was tied up and imprisoned in a cardboard box sitting on the shelf. She then continues the tour with the toys, leaving the real Buzz behind.

She later appears at the end of the outtakes, saying goodbye to the audience. After it's done, she complains about how smiling hurts her cheeks.

  • Tour Guide Barbie is the first instance of a toy briefly switching it's language from English to Spanish, which Buzz would eventually do when he became Spanish Buzz in  Toy Story 3 . However, in the Spanish version of the film, she repeats the statement in French.
  • Tour Guide Barbie's statement about retailers not ordering enough Buzz Lightyear dolls to meet demand is an in-joke and a fact. Because the toy sellers underestimated the box office performance of the original  Toy Story  when it was released in 1995, they did not order enough dolls to keep up with demand.

In Toy Story 2, the toys discover Barbie dolls in an aisle while searching for Woody. Hamm asks them if they know where Al is. Tour Guide Barbie volunteered to help and got in their car and gave them a tour around Al's Toy Barn. The toys crash into a bouncy ball machine when Rex showed his strategy guide in front of everyone, making Tour Guide Barbie not see where she was going. Rex chased after the car when he fell off, making Tour Guide Barbie tell everyone to remain seated, along with reciting it in Spanish. During the end credits she is a cinema usherette and is seen giving out instructions to the audience. After a while she asks if everyone has gone and promtly stops smiling and complains that it hurts her face. She then leaves for her break. In Toy Story 3, a Barbie appears to be one of the toys that Andy's sister, Molly, owns. She has a ponytail decorated in a pink scarf with a matching belt around her waist and the same color of high heel shoes on her feet and wears a turquoise sleeveless unitard with striped legwarmers. In Sunnyside, she falls in love with Ken. Ken begs her to join him in the Butterfly room. When Ken goes to the gambling den with his henchmen, he tells Barbie to wait in the dream house. After Ken and the others reset Buzz, Barbie breaks up with him. They later try to escape Sunnyside. Barbie tricks Ken into his house, where she asks him on where to find a manual to Buzz Lightyear. Ken tells Barbie where the manual is. She assists Andy's friends in resetting Buzz back to his original state. When they are stopped by Lotso and his gang from escaping Sunnyside, Barbie tells Lotso, about how it is better to have them be treated fairly than be ruled by a dictator. Her statement makes Ken come to her help, which makes Barbie fall back in love with him and hugs him shortly after Lotso forcefully throws Ken to Andy's friends. In the end credits of the film, they are once again in a relationship and change Sunnyside, becoming its co-leaders, after Lotso is defeated. At a party at Sunnyside, Barbie is seen coming down the toy elevator on Ken's Dream House with a gold dress. Barbie appears with Ken in Hawaiian Vacation.

The "Barbie" IMAX Release Features a Never-Before-Seen Post-Credits Scene

BARBIE, Margot Robbie as Barbie, 2023. Warner Bos. /Courtesy Everett Collection

"Barbie" movie, take two. Just weeks after Greta Gerwig's $1 billion box office hit made its debut on July 21, "Barbie" fans have a new incentive to return to theatres. On Aug. 23, Warner Bros. announced that the film will see a limited-time IMAX run beginning Sept. 22. In addition to giving "Barbie" fans an opportunity to relive the pink magic in HD, all "Barbie" showings during the one-week run will feature a special post-credits scene composed of never-before-seen footage.

Is There a "Barbie" Post-Credits Scene?

The regular end credits feature real-life Barbie dolls floating against colourful backgrounds, accompanied by the sounds of "Barbie World (With Aqua)" by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice . Historically, though, the film has not had a post-credits scene or even a mid-credits scene to surprise movie-goers. Now, Warner Bros. is finally making Barbie fans' dreams come true with the new IMAX release. "We made 'Barbie' for the big screen, so it's a thrill to be able to bring it to IMAX, the biggest screen of all," Gerwig said in a statement, according to Variety . "As a special thanks to 'Barbie' fans, we're excited to share a little bit more of our cast and crew's incredible work by adding special new footage we hope audiences will enjoy."

What Happens in the "Barbie" Post-Credits Scene?

As for what happens in the "Barbie" post-credits scene, Gerwig and the rest of the film's crew are remaining tight-lipped. "For all of us in the exhibition community, it's been exciting to watch an original film like 'Barbie' become an unparalleled critical and commercial success this summer," Richard Gelfond, CEO of IMAX Corporation, said in a separate statement. "We're thrilled to be partnering with Greta and her filmmaking team and our friends at Warner Bros. to deliver this special edition of 'Barbie' with never-before-seen footage exclusively to IMAX audiences around the world."

On Reddit, eager fans were quick to share their excitement and posit theories as to what might happen in the end credits scene. "Time for me to watch Barbie on an even bigger screen!!!" one Reddit user wrote. Another Reddit user added, "As someone who [has] seen Barbie seven times, I am excited to see extra footage!" Inspired by a viral behind-the-scenes photo with romantic undertones, some fans of the film expressed their hope for a glimpse of what happens between Ryan Gosling's Ken and Kate McKinnon's Weird Barbie . After sorting through behind-the-scenes pictures and videos, another fan suggested IMAX viewers might be able to see a full director's cut. If it were up to me, the end credits scene would be footage of Allan practicing his fighting techniques when none of the other Kens and Barbies are around. Of course, we'll have to wait for the post-credits footage to be released to know for sure.

Whether the fan theories are correct or not, we don't really need an excuse to see the "Barbie" movie a second time. It spoke to us , after all.

Barbieaisle

The Barbie aisle at Al's Toy Barn

A bunch of Barbies were first seen in Toy Story 2 partying in an aisle at Al's Toy Barn. Rex, Hamm, Mr. Potato Head, and Slinky drive by this aisle, looking for Woody, when the Barbies catch their attention. After Hamm asks for directions to Al (the owner of the store), Tour Guide Barbie jumps into the car and navigates them around Al's Toy Barn. She drives the toys through the Hot Wheels aisle, eventually reaching the Buzz Lightyear aisle, where they pick up a newer Buzz instead of Andy's (who is left behind, having been trapped in the cardboard box by the new Buzz).

Amy's Barbie Doll [ ]

Amy's barbie

Amy's Barbie

After Andy's toys track down Al's suitcase at the airport to save Woody, they have a fight with the Prospector , who wants to take the Roundup Gang to Japan. Once they stop him by using the flash from Cameras from someone else's luggage in there, they put him in a Barbie backpack that belongs to a girl named Amy . She is surprised by the new "big ugly man doll" as she retrieves her backpack. She then places her Barbie doll in a backpack next to Stinky Pete, to whom she plans to give a makeover. The Barbie next to Stinky Pete tells him he'll like Amy because she's an artist, as she shows Amy's modifications to the other side of her face, much to Stinky Pete's discomfort.

Three Barbie Singers [ ]

The morning after Andy's toys return home from their journey to save Woody, three of Molly's Barbies are seen providing background vocals for a fixed Wheezy as he sings " You've Got a Friend in Me " in celebration.

Outtakes [ ]

During the outtakes, two identical Barbies are seen having a conversation with the Prospector inside his box when he is supposed to be filming a scene. He tells them he will get them a part in Toy Story 3 before the Barbies leave the box. Although this does not happen, a different Barbie does appear in Toy Story 3. After the outtakes, Tour Guide Barbie makes her final appearance, saying "bye-bye" to the audiences, then complaining how her face hurts from smiling so long.

Toy Story 3 [ ]

Molly'sroom

Molly tossing her Barbie doll into a box bound for Sunnyside.

One of Molly's Barbie dolls has lasted up until this point, but Molly tosses her into a box bound for Sunnyside Daycare . Soon, Andy's toys sneak into the box, joining Barbie to go to Sunnyside as well, now that Andy is going to college. Mrs. Potato Head tries to comfort Barbie, who is crying about being abandoned by Molly. When Woody describes daycare as a sad, lonely place for toys who have no owners, she begins to bawl and sob hysterically.

Toy-Story-3-Ken-and-Barbie

Barbie Meets Ken for the first time.

At Sunnyside, Barbie first shakes one of Stretch's tentacles. Shortly thereafter, Barbie and the toys meet Lotso, head toy at Sunnyside, who then calls for Ken to join the tour. As Barbie and Ken catch sight of each other, they walk toward one another, and Barbie asks if she and Ken have ever met. Little does Barbie know that Ken is a member of Lotso's gang . As Lotso assigns Andy's toys to the Caterpillar Room , Ken asks Barbie if she wants to live in his Dream House in the Butterfly Room , and when the toys approve, Barbie willingly goes with Ken as she leaves the Caterpillar Room.

That evening, Buzz Lightyear, who has left the Caterpillar Room to go see Lotso, witness Barbie and Ken spending some more time together as they share their love dialogue, until Chunk and Twitch, two of Lotso's evil accomplices, walk by and take Ken with them to head for the Vending Machine to gamble. When Ken doesn't seem to return, Barbie goes out to investigate. Finding Ken in the Caterpillar Room, she asks him what is happening, only for Ken to tell her to wait in his Dream House, but upon discovering that Ken and the other Sunnyside toys has locked up her friends, Barbie becomes angry with Ken and subsequently breaks up with him as she snatches away the scarf she has previously given to him. She is then imprisoned with the other toys.

The next day, after Woody arrives back at Sunnyside to rescue his imprisoned friends, Barbie takes part in Woody's plan to escape the daycare. After Ken and Buzz take roll call, she calls Ken over and begs him to let her stay with him at his Dream House. Hearing Barbie's sobs, Ken becomes stuck in a dilemma, but gives in to Barbie's plea, making her promise to follow his orders. At the Dream House, Barbie is awestruck at Ken's vast collection of clothes, but when Ken, thinking Barbie is still angry at him for what he has done to her friends, bitterly says how no one appreciates his clothes, Barbie sweet-talks him into showing off his many outfits to her, reinvigorating Ken's spirit. Barbie becomes amused and applauds as Ken shows off his various outfits to her. As Ken shows off his martial arts in his Kung Fu Fighting outfit, Barbie tackles Ken from above and demands him to tell her what Lotso has done to Buzz and how to get Buzz back to normal. Realizing that it is a ploy by Barbie, Ken initially protests, but decides to see her try.

TS3BarbieNehru

Barbie starts to rip Ken's Nehru jacket

Barbie then ties up Ken (who is now in nothing but his underwear) to a paddle and interrogates him by ripping several of his outfits. Ken tries to remain defiant as much as he can, but when Barbie brings out his Nehru jacket that she claims is from 1967, he begs her not to rip it. Despite Ken's pleas, she starts ripping the jacket until Ken, unable to bear it anymore, mentions an instruction manual as he falls over in the paddle. As Ken confesses to Barbie that Lotso has switched Buzz to "Demo" mode, Barbie puts down the Nehru and demands Ken to tell her where to find the manual, then disguises herself using Ken's space suit and asks Bookworm to hand her the Buzz Lightyear instruction manual (Bookworm becomes disgusted when he sees "Ken" wearing high heels).

With the manual in hand, Barbie catches up with Woody and Slinky, then they return to the Caterpillar Room to rejoin Hamm and Rex, who have trapped Buzz in a storage bin, but Buzz kicks the bin off and tries to escape. After Hamm and Rex recapture Buzz and hold him down, Barbie unscrews Buzz's back compartment so Woody and Rex can have access to the "Play-Demo" switch and the reset hole, respectively. However, the toys reset Buzz into a Spanish version of his deluded, Space Ranger self, leaving Barbie and the others in bewilderment. With time running short, they escape Sunnyside through a garbage chute, only to run into Lotso and his gang. Barbie, supporting Jessie's claims about Sunnyside not being a place for family but a prison and Lotso being a liar and a bully, tells Lotso: "Authority should derive from the consent of the governed, not from the threat of force!" Lotso then signals Stretch to push the toys, including Barbie, into the dumpster.

Barbie hugging Ken

Barbie hugs a newly-reformed Ken

Just then, Ken appears, having come for Barbie, and tries to stop Lotso, making Barbie surprised at his sudden appearance. Lotso mocks Ken's love for Barbie, stating that there are hundred million Barbie dolls everywhere. Ken tells Barbie not like the one he met, having seen through her understanding of civics, to which she sighs affectionately. Enraged, Lotso grabs Ken and throws him across the dumpster to force him to join Barbie. Woody catches Ken and pulls him up to the chute with help from the other toys, and Barbie hugs Ken. When the toys end up being loaded into a garbage truck, Barbie attempts to help, but is stopped by Ken from risking her life. Barbie is shocked to see her friends being loaded into the garbage and screams sadly as Ken holds her.

Barbie-and-Ken-toy-story-3

Barbie and Ken, new leaders of Sunnyside, as seen during the credits.

Barbie and Ken later reconcile and become boyfriend and girlfriend once again. Together, they revolutionize Sunnyside, turning the daycare into a true toy paradise for all toys, and become its new leaders. Under the couple's leadership, the daycare toys now rotate their time between the Butterfly Room and the Caterpillar Room, hold beach parties at the sandbox, and have discos in the Butterfly Room.

The next day, the toys, now residing at  Bonnie 's  house  as her new toys, receive a message from the daycare informing them that Sunnyside has become sunny once again. They read the message and assume that Barbie has written it (as remarked by Buzz about the fancy handwriting), only to find Ken's signature at the end.

Hawaiian Vacation [ ]

Hawaiian Vacation 02

Barbie posing for a picture for Ken in Hawaiian Vacation

Barbie is first seen along with Ken as they unzip Bonnie's backpack and emerge into Bonnie's room. There, they meet Woody, Buzz, and other toys , but Ken becomes depressed when he finds out that he and Barbie have ended up in Bonnie's room and missed their "flight" to Hawaii. After Ken sinks back into Bonnie's backpack in great depression, Barbie reveals to Woody and the others the vacation plans she and Ken have made for each other.

Later, Barbie calls for Ken to come out, and when Ken opens the backpack, he is greeted by Jessie's enthusiastic "ALOHA!" then finds himself standing in "paradise" with Barbie. Woody and his friends recreate "Hawaii" for the couple, such as deep-sea diving, guided nature walk, and an entertaining dinner. After their various adventures in "Hawaii," Ken and Barbie share their first kiss in the snow at sunrise, as Woody and his friends watch through a window, but then the two fall into the snow, prompting the toys to come to their rescue by digging them out and releasing them from a block of ice.

Toy Story 4 [ ]

Barbie Toy Story 4 Cameo

Barbie in Toy Story 4 .

Barbie makes a silent appearance during the flashback in Toy Story 4 . Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and Slinky come to Molly's room to enlist Bo Peep in helping them rescue R.C. who has been lost outside in a thunderstorm. Bo calls on her and two other barbies to help with "Operation Pull Toy." Molly's toys create a catapult and Jessie gets on, then on Bo's command, Barbie and her friends jump on the catapult and launch Jessie into the air so she can unlock the bedroom window. It can be assumed she was saddened by Bo's departure after being given away to a new family. Two years after the third film, she presumably still runs Sunnyside with Ken.

From Official Website:

Great Shape Barbie

The original "Great Shape Barbie" doll from 1983.

  • All the Barbie dolls who appear in the series are voiced by Jodi Benson, famous for voicing Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid movie trilogy and TV series. She also voiced Barbie in many commercials for the doll, and on CD-ROM games with the character.
  • In addition, her personality was intended to be modeled after Sarah Connor from the Terminator franchise, even saying, "Come with me if you want to live," when she rescued Woody and Buzz from Sid's mansion, with Woody remarking in reply that he "Wish[ed] [Woody] was anatomically correct."
  • The phrase, "Love your leg warmers," which Ken says to Barbie in their first meeting, was used in the original Great Shape Barbie toy commercial.
  • The black and white swimsuit Barbie wears in Toy Story Toons, was the same attire worn by the very first Barbie doll manufactured by Mattel in 1959.
  • The two other Barbies that appear with Barbie in Toy Story 4 have a resemblance to the dolls Christie and Teresa who were Barbie's friends in the Mattel franchise.

Does Barbie have a post-credits scene?

And will there be a Barbie 2, or a Barbie prequel? We cover the basics

by Tasha Robinson

Barbie (Margot Robbie) sits on a set of bleachers at the beach and holds up one of her malfunctioning, actually-bent-at-the-ankles legs for a Greek chorus of shocked, gaping Barbies in the 2023 live-action Barbie movie

Even though the post-credits-scene phenomenon is really only standard at this point for superhero movies, children’s movies (especially animated ones, which often want to get in one last follow-up gag), and franchise features with a next project to tease, it makes sense that people sitting in the theater for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie would wonder whether the movie has some sort of tag. It’s a ridiculously dense comedy, full of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it gags about everything from toxic masculinity to the silliest fashion choices in Barbie toy history .

Why wouldn’t Gerwig (and co-writer Noah Baumbach) take the moment to throw in one more joke or note at the end? There are certainly enough characters and micro-thread stories in the film to justify it. And yet… let’s dig into the obvious questions people will have immediately after seeing the movie.

President Barbie (Issa Rae, in a pink jumpsuit and pink-and-blue “President” sash) raises a fist in solidarity as she stands in front of a crowd of more smiling Barbies in pink jumpsuits in a pink courtroom in the 2023 live-action Barbie movie

Does Barbie have a end-credits scene?

The original theatrical release doesn’t have one. No mid-credits scene either, absolutely nothing after the credits start — though it’s still worth hanging around for a while to see the credits’ lineup of actual past Barbie products, including many lampooned in the film itself. It’s a chance to see what these dolls actually looked like when they weren’t played by famous people.

But Warner Bros. is sending Barbie to IMAX screens for a weeklong run starting Sept. 22, and the studio has revealed that the IMAX edition will have newly added post-credits footage . No word yet on whether any other theatrical or home release of Barbie will have that extra footage.

Will the Barbie movie get a sequel?

There are currently no plans for Barbie 2 , and Gerwig is already busy with another project — the next thing on her docket is a pair of movie adaptations of C.S. Lewis’ Narnia books , which she’ll be making at Netflix. But Gerwig has suggested she might be open to more Barbie movies down the line — “I want to go back to Barbieland,” she told People ahead of Barbie’s release. Early tracking on Barbie suggests it’ll be a box-office hit and a cultural phenomenon, so expect Warner Bros. to be courting Gerwig for a follow-up.

Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz has already told Time that he’s interested in more Barbie movies after this one — but given that there have already been more than 40 Barbie movies since 2001, that’s no surprise. That same Time piece says Barbie star Margot Robbie has already been “involved in conversations” about sequels or a franchise, but nothing’s set yet — likely because due to the tricky nature of Gerwig’s Barbie , the studio and Mattel wanted to hedge their bets and see how it performed.

Should there be a Barbie 2?

That’s a trickier question! For a movie about a world-famous IP, Gerwig’s Barbie is unusually creative and colorful, with a take on Barbie that’s both loving and critical. It’s a fun time, and the Polygon staff recommends seeing it . But it mines a lot of its biggest joys out of surprise. The visual gags hit hardest the first time through, like the way Barbie floats through the world because nobody playing with a Barbie toy has her walk places. Then there’s the shock value of finding out that not only is Barbieland a real place where real people can go, Mattel is used to the problem of Barbieland characters escaping, and has a protocol for it. A sequel would have to find a radically new direction.

But hey, it worked for A Very Brady Sequel , which has a lot of the same satirical-yet-loving tone, and is absolutely funnier and smarter than the original The Brady Bunch Movie .

Will there be a Barbie movie prequel?

Now that seems more in keeping with current studio thinking — especially since Barbie openly discusses a previous crisis where Skipper escaped Barbieland and entered Reality, and we never learn much about why that happened. Backing up and filling in that storyline would give everyone involved in Barbie a chance to tell another story with this same silly Barbie tone, without having to reckon with all the life-changing experiences the characters go through in this story.

In the age of the MCU, where cameos and Easter Eggs abound in the minutes after the credits roll, those watching Greta Gerwig’s plastic fantastic cinematic sojourn will be wanting to know if Barbie has an end-credits scene , i.e. how long you’ll have to wait until you run off to Oppenheimer .

As Ken, Ryan Gosling, meanwhile, got real about playing his character at CinemaCon 2023 in April. “I have to be honest: I only knew Ken from afar before now. I didn’t know Ken from within. I doubted my Kenergy,” he said. “I didn’t see it, but Margot and Greta conjured this out of me somehow. One day I was bleaching my hair, shaving my legs and wearing bespoke pink outfits, and rollerblading down Venice Beach.” Read on to find out how long you’ll have to sit through the credits before diving into Christopher Nolan’s wartime epic, Oppenheimer , which was released on the same day in a phenomenon now known as “Barbenheimer”.

Does Barbie have post-credits scenes?

Good news! Barbie does not have post-credits scenes so off to Oppenheimer you trot. Though, you may want to hang around to listen to the truly epic soundtrack, which features music from some of the biggest names in the industry and with a cute little nod to the Mattel toy line at the very end.

Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie in Barbie

Multiple Grammy winner Mark Ronson initially went from producing two songs for the film to executive-producing the entire thing as well as scoring the movie. “In the original brief, it only said two songs. It was kind of tongue-in-cheekily named by Noah and Greta “Barbie and Ken Hit Songs”: a mini-directive of what they imagined those songs being,” Ronson explained to Vulture . “The Barbie song is about her perfect night, and the Ken song—I got the feeling as soon as I read the script—is about this guy that just can’t get out of his own way. We all have these masks that we put on to impress people, and all we really want to be is ourselves. And that lyric just came to me, “I’m just Ken. Anywhere else I’d be a 10.”

Billie Eilish wrote “What I Was Made For” for the film and directed the accompanying music video, explaining to Apple Music’s Zane Low the process of writing the song: “We truly sat down and Finneas started playing piano, and… those first couple lyrics, “I used to float, now I just fall down,” just came right out…”I used to know, but I’m not sure now what I was made for.”

She continued, “The start of writing this song, the first day of writing, Finneas and I, especially me because it’s from my perspective, we were purely only thinking about Barbie. I did not think about myself once in the writing process.” She then went on to say was so focused on the movie. “I was purely inspired by this movie and this character and the way I thought she would feel, and wrote about that.”

Billie said she was stunned by the first  couple of minutes  she saw of the film when Gerwig invited her to an advanced screening. “A minute in, Finneas and I looked at each other like … Whoa, this is insane. She’d play a scene and she’d walk in front of us and she’d go, “So, in the next part, what I want it to be is I want it to really feel like this,” and she’d do her Greta Gerwig-ass thing and she’d come up and she’d show us her passion and tell us all,” Billie recalled.

Barbie The Album  tracklist

Will barbie have a sequel.

Will Barbie have a sequel? Director Greta Gerwig teased on whether or not the possibility of seeing our favorite dolls on screen once more. “At this moment, it’s all I’ve got. I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I’ll never have another idea and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did. I wouldn’t want to squash anybody else’s dream but for me, at this moment, I’m at totally zero,” she told The New York Times.

However, Mattel says they have 45 movies in development based on their various toy properties.

For more about Barbie, read Robin Gerber’s 2010 book, Barbie and Ruth: The Story of the World’s Most Famous Doll and the Woman Who Created Her . The book—which was called a “stirring biography” an a “fine study of success and resilience” by Publisher’s Weekly—follows the true story of Mattel co-founder and Barbie inventor Ruth Handler and how she invented one of the most popular toys of all time. “It is a fascinating account of how one visionary woman and her product changed an industry and sparked a lasting debate about women’s roles,” the publisher’s description reads.
