Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift always keeps her promises. Just a couple weeks after unveiling a list of Latin American dates for her bestselling Eras Tour and pledging to schedule even more across the globe, the 33-year-old pop star has now announced a slew of international shows for the trek in 2024.

Here Are the Artists Opening for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour: Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers…

Trending on billboard.

Swift first confirmed that the Eras Tour would be going global earlier this month, when the “Anti-Hero” singer announced a Latin American leg of shows in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina also featuring support from Carpenter, whom Swift called a “sweet angel princess.” “Really thrilled to tell you this!!” the pop star wrote in a post to her social media accounts at the time. “Mexico, Argentina and Brazil: We are bringing The Eras Tour to you this year!” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

“LOTS more international dates to come soon, promise!” she added.

Ten days later, Swift added three additional shows to the Latin America leg, which kicks off in early August and picks up in November.

In addition to the new shows, Swifties also have a new album to look forward to in the coming weeks. As announced in May, Swift’s third studio album, Speak Now, will receive the “Taylor’s Version” treatment. Re-recordings of the set’s original tracks drop July 7, as do previously unreleased “Vault” tracks featuring Hayley Williams and Fall Out Boy.

Taylor Swift Taps Paramore for European Eras Tour Run

Taylor Swift knows we need more — so she’s giving us just that. The singer has added 14 more shows to the European/U.K. leg of her Eras Tour , and announced that Paramore will provide support throughout the trek.

“Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour,” Swift wrote on Twitter Wednesday, July 5. “And I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore !! Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Last month, Swift added dozens of shows to her Taylor Swift: The Eras stadium tour — bringing the total count of shows to a whooping 104 nights . She also extended her run at Los Angeles’ So-Fi Stadium with a sixth show scheduled for Aug. 7.

The new addition comes after the singer announced shows in Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Europe earlier this week. (See below for the full tour dates.)

“EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️,” she wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!”

She also added more dates to her already-announced Latin America tour. After wrapping her U.S. dates in Los Angeles on Aug. 9, Swift will head to Mexico City for four straight shows at Foro Sol starting Aug. 24. She’ll then stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil in November.

Swift first announced the tour last October after she completely took over the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 with Midnights . The added dates, which follow the addition of eight new shows last week, were slotted in “due to unprecedented demand,” according to the singer’s camp.

“Good Morning America, it’s Taylor,” Swift said during the announcement. “I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time and I’ve been planning for ages, and I finally get to tell you I’m going back on tour. The tour is called the ‘Eras’ tour, and it’s a journey through all of my musical eras of my career.”

The tour began on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona and extends through Aug. 9, where the singer will wrap with a fifth night at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Swift still has stops left in Detroit, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Seattle, and Santa Clara.

Taylor Swift Releases Dreamy 'Fortnight' BLOND:ISH Remix

Beck will conclude orchestral tour with headlining show at carnegie hall, victoria monét drops out of governors ball, other fests due to 'ongoing health issues'.

Across the tour, Swift is being supported in select cities by a combination of special guests including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

The Eras tour follows the cancelation of her planned 2020 Lover Fest tour, which was originally going to see her make stadium stops in Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, along with Brazil, Denmark, Norway, and Poland. “This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she wrote in 2021.

Swift last went the road in 2018 for her massive Reputation Stadium Tour , which saw Swift accompanied by the likes of Charli XCX and Camila Cabello across the United States, the United Kingdom, along with Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour was the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist that year.

Since her last tour, Swift has released four albums and two re-releases: Lover , Folklore , Evermore , Midnights , and Taylor’s Version editions of Fearless and Red with additional songs. In total, she’s dropped 90 tracks of new material, not including collaborations with the likes of Haim and Big Red Machine.

Fans have long wondered what music she’ll be performing on the road, with some theorizing that she’d host a residency in Las Vegas or a music festival where she’d perform different “eras” on different nights.

Along with packing her setlist with songs from Reputation in 2018, she surprised each city with an acoustic rendition of fan favorites like “Red,” “Holy Ground,” and “Wildest Dreams.” At select shows, she also brought out special guests. Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, Hayley Kiyoko, and Maren Morris were among the artists to be brought out by Swift.

The stadium tour was accompanied by a concert film released on New Year’s Eve that year.

She previously took her 1989 album on the road for 85 dates, where she was accompanied by the likes of Mendes, James Bay, Vance Joy, and Haim. Before then was The Red Tour in 2013 and 2014, and her Speak Now World Tour from 2011 to 2012.

‘Please come’: Taylor Swift fans in south-east Asia hope for tour date

With Singapore the only stop announced, the star’s huge followings in the Philippines and Thailand are left to rue their lack of suitable infrastructure

O n social media, fans are calling it the “great war”. Tips are being shared on how best to prepare. Online support groups are sharing experiences. Relatives and friends have been enlisted to assist in the struggle.

The prospect of staring for hours at a screen in the hope of securing a Taylor Swift tour ticket is widely known by now, but never more so than across south-east Asia, where just one tour stop, Singapore, has been included on the star’s schedule.

Fans began queueing outside post offices in Singapore on Wednesday, hoping to secure tickets on Friday, reported the Straits Times , but elsewhere in the region, fans have blamed unstable politics and poor infrastructure as some of the reasons why their home countries are missing from the star’s schedule.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer wrote in a recent editorial that complaints from fans had “ended up highlighting the sad state of Philippine infrastructure”.

The country is home to a large Swift fanbase. Quezon City in Metro Manila was once listed by Spotify as being home to the fifth-biggest number of Swift’s listeners in a ranking of global cities.

Prior to the announcement of the tour dates, the fan group Swifties Philippines ran a hashtag campaign #WeWantErasTourPhillipines to try to draw Swift to the country, even organising an event by drag performer Taylor Sheesh, who recreated the Eras tour in a packed mall in Quezon City. Taylor Sheesh’s lip-sync performance, complete with costume changes, went viral on social media.

Charlyn Suizo, 30, a software engineer from Laguna, and an admin for the Swifties Philippines group, hoped it would send a message to Swift. “We organised several campaigns to knock on Taylor Swift’s door to really [ask her to] listen to us and invite her to come here,” she says.

Suizo was saddened that no tour dates were announced for Manila, but adds that she thinks infrastructure is a problem. “We don’t have a big stadium that would fit the stage, the technology that would be used for the logistics and the necessary setups for her to do the concert,” she says.

Transport connectivity is another problem. There is no direct public transport link to the Philippine Arena, the biggest stadium, which can seat 50,000 people. Suizo spent four hours travelling from Manila to the venue for a recent Bruno Mars concert. About half the audience arrived late, she added.

“Let’s hope there is [investment], because it really is an eye-opener for the government and everyone,” she added. The Philippines was missing out on the economic opportunities associated with hosting big concerts, says Suizo.

By contrast, Taylor’s six shows in Singapore , where tickets start at S$108 ($80), are expected to bring a major boost to its tourism sector, as is a visit by Coldplay, which recently announced six shows there.

Singaporean media have pointed to the city state’s connectivity, facilities and the tourism board’s efforts to position it as an entertainment and events hub as reasons for its attractiveness.

‘We love you, we are waiting for you’

In Thailand , fans believe Taylor’s tour dates might also reflect concerns about political instability. Many remember bitterly how Swift had to cancel her 2014 concert in Bangkok after the military coup by the now caretaker prime minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Pongpond Karnsubwedchkij, 19, of the Thai fan group Saratay, says he plans to travel to watch her shows elsewhere. But he adds: “I would love to hear her say ‘Sawatdee kah Thailand’ rather than ‘Hello Japan’, or ‘Hello Singapore.’”

He thinks the political situation is changing, citing the recent election, in which the progressive Move Forward party won the most seats.

Pongpond’s message to Swift? “We love you, we are waiting for you and we will continue to wait. And finally, Prayuth is no longer prime minister. Please come here.”

Elsewhere, some have questioned whether some performers have been deterred by intolerant attitudes in the host country. When Coldplay announced tour dates in Indonesia and Malaysia in May, it was met with a backlash from conservative politicians and religious groups over the group’s support for LGBTQ+ issues.

But Swifties say they will continue to celebrate her music in their home countries, with both Saratay and Swifties Philippines organising listening parties to coincide with the release of the Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) album.

Many will also keep trying their luck getting tickets for Singapore. Gabriel Eric Villanueva promised to try to get tickets for his fiancee, Smile Carvajal, when he proposed last year. On Wednesday, he wore the same shirt from the day of his proposal for good luck, while his friend, who qualified for a presale, entered the queue on his behalf.

They were number 257,930 in the queue, but unsuccessful.

He will try again on Friday when the general sale begins. They will buy any ticket that is available, as long as it is reasonably priced. “Even if it’s just the cheapest ticket – just to be there,” says Carvajal.

Taylor Swift wooed by Singapore before other international dates were lined up: KASM chief

taylor swift asia tour 2023

SINGAPORE - In early 2023, a team from Singapore flew to Los Angeles to meet leaders from the sports and entertainment world, as American pop star Taylor Swift was about to embark on her United States tour.

At the time, no international venues had been confirmed for the superstar’s The Eras Tour run.

A few months later, the Singapore team, working with concert promoter Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), promised to “deliver Asia” to Swift, thus setting in motion a deal for an unprecedented six-day run of concerts at the National Stadium in Singapore – the only South-east Asian stop of her tour.

The Singapore dates were announced in June 2023.

Swift will hold six shows at the 60,000-capacity venue from March 2 to 9. More than 300,000 tickets have been sold for the concerts in Singapore, with a large number of fans travelling in from South-east Asia and the rest of the world.

“KASM (Kallang Alive Sport Management) initiated the idea (for the tour to come to Singapore) and led the discussions... We were the proactive ‘tip of the spear’ for the Government in these discussions that were had,” said KASM chairman Keith Magnus, speaking to The Straits Times on Feb 23.

“Once the discussion had progressed and we saw the opportunity of holding an only-in-Singapore event, we then thought it made sense to take a whole-of-government approach and brought in other relevant agencies to really have Team Singapore bringing in Team Taylor.”

Mr Magnus took over the corporate entity established by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and Sport Singapore to manage the $1.33 billion facility in Kallang in December 2022.

When asked if an exclusivity clause was baked into the agreement with Swift’s team, he said there was “certainly an understanding that it was an only-in-Singapore event, (and) that’s how it was branded”.

On Feb 16, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said he was informed by AEG that the Singapore Government offered subsidies of up to US$3 million (S$4 million) for each concert – in exchange for Swift agreeing not to perform elsewhere in South-east Asia during The Eras Tour.

The Singapore Tourism Board and MCCY then issued a joint statement saying that the upcoming concerts got the support of the authorities in the form of a grant, but stopped short of saying how much was pumped in.

When pressed, Mr Magnus also did not elaborate on the specifics of the deal, nor the grant amount.

He is confident that moving ahead – whether a concert is a Singapore exclusive or otherwise – the Republic remains a draw for artistes.

Coldplay, for instance, played six shows in Singapore as part of its Music of the Spheres World Tour earlier in 2024, compared with two days in the Philippines and two days in Thailand.

“It’s now a proven model that if you are an artiste and you want to be in Asia to cater to the Asia fan base, you really just have to come to Singapore, play here,” he said.

He added that “fans are able and willing to travel to Singapore to have a great experience and participate not just in the concert, but a broader offering of what the country has to offer”.

The enormously popular tour is currently making a stop for four days in Sydney , where Destination New South Wales projects more than 100,000 visitors will flock to the Australian city, generating an economic benefit of A$80 million (S$70.7 million).

Swift’s seven shows across Australia’s two biggest cities from Feb 16 to 26 could generate A$1.2 billion in economic value in Melbourne alone, according to the city’s Lord Mayor Sally Capp.

The Singapore team’s maiden trip to Los Angeles was a catalyst for KASM “to understand and see what was possible on the global stage with marquee events”, said Mr Magnus.

Calls had already gone out to draw the sporting and entertainment world to Singapore in October and November 2022, even before the Government took back the Singapore Sports Hub, according to Mr Magnus.

“We had already begun making calls around the world, signalling that Kallang was going to be beating to a different drum,” he said.

“If the vision was to be the premier (entertainment and sports) destination, then we needed to be proactive.”

taylor swift asia tour 2023

The Sports Hub, which Mr Magnus noted is seeing the dividends of this now, has already had a jam-packed 2024.

Juggernaut act Coldplay played a six-day run of concerts at the National Stadium in end-January, while Ed Sheeran, with extra seating, drew a record crowd of 60,000 people to the same venue on Feb 16.

In January to April, the venue is expecting to welcome more than 900,000 visitors for concerts alone, with pop star Bruno Mars’ three dates in April expected to draw around 150,000 concertgoers. In March, the sporting venue will also host the Singapore v China World Cup qualifier.

Experts conservatively estimate that Coldplay’s concerts alone would have contributed a revenue of $96 million to Singapore’s gross domestic product, said Mr Zachery Rajendran, programme chair for the diploma in integrated events management at Republic Polytechnic.

“The impact of Taylor Swift’s concerts could possibly surpass that,” said Mr Zachery, adding that the temporary influx of travellers for such concerts brings a myriad of benefits to Singapore, ranging from economic growth to cultural enrichment to global recognition.

Mr Magnus wants to continue to build on the momentum and ensure that the world of sports and entertainment “knows that there is a great partner they can have in KASM”.

“It’s almost an investment banking DNA and passion that’s been brought into the operating culture of the organisation... We are constantly in deal mode,” said the chairman and chief executive of investment banking firm Evercore.

“In order to do that, we have to be proactive and thoughtful in curating both world-class as well as national-class (events) to appeal to Singaporeans and visitors alike.”

It’s official — Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie is heading to China, the last major market the pop star has yet to conquer in 2023.

The smash-hit concert film, which already has earned over $250 million worldwide, is set to receive a wide release in China’s cinemas Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve. The announcement was made in Beijing on Friday at 13:13 (or 1:13 p.m.), a reference to Swift’s much-beloved lucky number.

Most major Western stars are affectionately known to Chinese fans by local nicknames. Swift is lovingly referred to as “Meimei,” a play on words that reference both the Chinese word for “unlucky” (a reference to her early career tangle with Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards and occasional chart disappointments) and “beautiful.” Chinese fans are, thus, “Meimeis” rather than Swifties.

Unlike in the U.S., where AMC Theatres served as both the distributor and exhibitor for The Eras Tour , circumventing the Hollywood studios, Swift’s film is being released in China via more conventional means. Alibaba Pictures, the entertainment subsidiary of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, acquired the rights to the concert movie via Trafalgar Releasing. The Chinese company is releasing the film in partnership with the state distributor China Film Group.

Taylor Swift’s Singapore Concert Sparks Tourism Boom in Southeast Asia

Peden Doma Bhutia , Skift

December 24th, 2023 at 8:00 AM EST

For an events-led tourism destination like Singapore, the Taylor Swift concert has been music to the coffers, errr… ears!

Peden Doma Bhutia

Taylor Swift may be singing, “You Need to Calm Down,” but fans in Asia aren’t listening. The singer’s highly anticipated Singapore tour in March is stirring up a travel storm in Southeast Asia.

Data analysis by travel technology company Amadeus reveals a substantial increase in travel searches for Singapore, the singer’s only stop in the region.

Asians are now willing to pay top dollar to travel and attend such shows. “We saw over half a million fans in the queue spending more than $1,200 on bundles, including a pair of tickets and a hotel stay,” said Sarah Wan, Klook’s general manager for Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Surge in Searches

When the pre-sale went live in July, Agoda saw a surge in searches from Thailand for accommodations — more than 100 times the normal search volume. It made Thailand the top country searching for stays in Singapore that day, followed by Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, which all saw large increases.

Agoda CEO Omri Morgenshtern wrote on LinkedIn, “Taylor Swift has all but sold out her six Singapore shows. It’s quite the event.”

Another big show is Coldplay in January. CEO and founder of Zuzu Hospitality , Vikram Malhi, said his hotel partners in Singapore are experiencing four to five times higher booking numbers during those times.

According to Amadeus, Singapore experienced an 18% average week-over-week growth in travel searches, attributed to Taylor Swift and Coldplay concert announcements. Shorter trips and weekend getaways were preferred by travelers during this period.

Klook said that when tourists attend a concert or event, their incremental in-destination spending can range from 4 to 5 times the face value of the ticket.

One target demographic driving this demand are Millenials and Gen Zs, who crave big lifetime experiences. “Our Klook Travel Pulse survey found that experiences are now the first consideration factor when planning a holiday, and we’re seeing this translate to how people look at experiences to shape their travel plans and itineraries,” Wan said.

What’s Driving Demand?

The Singapore Tourism Board supported AEG Presents Asia in bringing Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour to Singapore as the only stop in Southeast Asia. It said it has been working closely with event organizers to bring in high-quality leisure events that appeal to locals and visitors.

“Singapore’s strategic location as the gateway to Southeast Asia and strong fundamentals — our infrastructure, connectivity to the region, business culture and track record in delivering high-quality events — make us a suitable destination for hosting events,” said Ashlynn Loo, director, attractions, entertainment & tourism concept development at the Singapore Tourism Board.

Malhi said Singapore’s world-class infrastructure, boasting of one of the best airports and an extensive public transport network, makes it easily accessible for both event organizers and attendees.

Upsell Tourism Products

According to Klook’s Wan, this is just scratching the surface. The tour opens up an entirely new growth segment beyond music tourism , into mega events including concerts, festivals, and major sporting events.

Wan noted that destinations have yet to effectively upsell tourism products with these mega events, and travelers have to purchase individual elements separately.

According to Wan, the bundling of offerings on a platform, rather than selling separate tickets, holds potential in providing a seamless booking and entertainment experience and increasing tourism spending within a destination.

Offering a package that comprises concert tickets and hotel accommodations attracted more than 600,000 fans from within the region to compete for packages that were eventually sold out, noted Malhi.

“Evidently, fans are willing to travel and spend on experiences , which include concerts and events. This is especially true for the younger generation as their travel planning is purpose-driven in search of great experiences,” Malhi said.

The Labor Problem

Singapore has witnessed a surge in music tourism, but the industry has a significant challenge — a labor shortage.

Dong Limin, responsible for tourism human capital and sustainability at the Singapore Tourism Board, said the board has been taking proactive measures to address this workforce scarcity by collaborating with industry stakeholders and key organizations, including the National Trades Union Congress, Employment and Employability Institute, Workforce Singapore, and SkillsFuture Singapore.

Taylor Swift is about to go back on tour: Here's what to expect on the Eras Tour in Paris

taylor swift asia tour 2023

After a two-month break, Taylor Swift is revitalizing her titanic Eras Tour in Paris, and fans believe there are changes coming to the show.

If you are wondering where she's playing, if there will be changes and how to score tickets, here's everything we know.

And if you're new to the Eras Tour party, you can get caught up on the first 83 shows here .

When does the Eras Tour start again?

Swift kicks off the European leg of her tour on Thursday, May 9, in Paris. She will perform Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, as well, in the City of Light.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

What are Taylor Swift's tour dates in Europe?

There are 69 shows left in the Eras Tour: 51 in Europe, nine in America and nine in Canada.

The European leg stretches from May all the way through a five-night stand at Wembley Stadium in London in mid-August.

See a complete list of international dates here .

After she wraps up in Europe, Swift will stop in Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis before wrapping up in Canada.

See the remaining U.S. dates here .

What is the Eras Tour set list?

The Eras Tour has featured a massive 45-song set list you can check out here . But speculation is swirling it won't look the same when Swift takes the stage in Paris.

Will Taylor Swift add 'The Tortured Poets Department' to her set list?

The tortured poet has been on hiatus keeping her stamina up by releasing a double album of 31 tracks. The 2-hours-and-2-minutes project broke a number of Billboard records as the superstar did zero press to promote it. Fans flocked to stores and streaming services to listen to all the songs from "Fortnight" to "The Manuscript."

Although the singer has not confirmed whether her 11th era album will be added to her Eras Tour set list, she did post a YouTube shorts video with two scenes that sent Easter egg decoders into a frenzy. In one of the shots, the singer is next to a railing where a "TTPD" logo appears to be (at 0:11). In the succeeding shot, her back-up dancers perform holding canes and wearing top hats, something they have not worn previously.

Swift's dancers and bandmates posted to their Instagram stories as they left for France last week. The singer did not appear at two media events with her boyfriend Travis Kelce: the Kentucky Derby and a Formula 1 race in Miami , Florida. Patrick Mahomes, Kelce's friend and Kansas City's quarterback, attended the car racing spectacular with his wife, Brittany.

Can I still get Eras Tour tickets?

Swift's show is completely sold out in Europe and North America. There are resale sites with tickets, but be wary of scams. The best way to avoid getting swindled is continuously checking links on Swift's website . There are some for resale on the sites verified by her camp.

Singapore was a hotbed for fans who traveled thousands of miles only to get turned away at the venue. In Tokyo and Australia, last-minute ticket drops happened a few days — without announcement — ahead of the shows.

Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis — the three U.S. cities Swift is visiting in the fall — have some of the heftiest price tags with Canada closely behind. In may be cheaper to travel to Warsaw, Poland, or Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Here's a list of cities with the cheapest resale tickets, according to travel website  Islands.com .

10. Vienna, Austria — total average cost: $1,089, safety score: 69.72

9. Cardiff, U.K. — total average cost: $1,061, safety score: 61.83

8. Lyon, France — total average cost: $1,047, safety score: 44.3

7. Lisbon, Portugal — total average cost: $1,028, safety score: 70.15

6. Munich, Germany — total average cost: $1,000, safety score: 78.88

5. Paris, France — total average cost: $971, safety score: 41.83

4. Stockholm, Sweden — total average cost: $935, safety score: 53.86

3. Hamburg, Germany — total average cost: $903, safety score: 57.51

2. Gelsenkirchen, Germany — total average cost: $749, safety score: 51.33

1. Warsaw, Poland — total average cost: $712, safety score: 72.98

Who are the opening acts?

Paramore launched the Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona, in March 2023, so it's fitting the American rock band is opening the tour's second year. The act will open for Swift for 51 shows across Europe . The band was dubbed the 2024 Record Store Day global ambassador and surprised fans in Nashville the weekend following the release of "The Tortured Poets Department."

When the tour comes back to North America in October , Swift's opening act will be Gracie Abrams.

Where can I watch if I don't have tickets?

The Eras Tour is one of the first tours that has been followed, globally, by thousands of fans on digital platforms. Fans dedicate part of their concert experience to livestreaming as Swift performs. A few Swifties have learned how to host their own shows over social media including Tess Bohne , known as the livestream queen. Bohne goes live for (almost) every show pulling streams from Instagram and TikTok. When a livestream goes down, she fills the time with banter.

On YouTube, user @TaylorSwiftHockeyBro also livestreams the three-hour show, and on Twitch, @folkleric , is a host fans follow.

There is also an app, Swift Alert , that notifies fans who only want to watch certain eras like the acoustic, surprise set. The app sends out push alerts if there are any major announcements.

What secret songs are left?

For the past 83 shows, Swift has played an acoustic set she customizes at each stop with a guitar and piano performance. In 2024, the Eras Tour star added mashups of her songs for each stop. Here are the songs she has yet to perform:

  • "Taylor Swift" (debut album): "Mary's Song" and "A Perfectly Good Heart"
  • "Fearless": "The Way I Loved You," "Change," "Superstar," "We Were Happy," "That's When," "Don't You" and "Bye Bye Baby"
  • "Red": "Girl At Home," "Ronan," "Forever Winter" and "Run"
  • "1989": "Sweeter Than Fiction"
  • "Reputation": "I Did Something Bad"
  • "Lover": "London Boy," "Soon You'll Get Better" and "It's Nice to Have a Friend"
  • "Folklore": "Hoax"
  • "Evermore": "Happiness" and "Closure"
  • "Midnights": "Paris" and "Glitch"
  • "The Tortured Poets Department": all 31 tracks

Will Taylor Swift perform in 2025?

There have been many rumors that Swift will continue her show in 2025, but they are only rumors. Nothing has been announced for next year, and as of now, the tour will end in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Dec. 8.

Fans are following Taylor Swift to Europe after finding Eras Tour tickets less costly there

Thousands of Taylor Swift fans are following her across the pond after missing out on her U.S. concert tour last year or being put off by marked-up ticket prices.

LONDON (AP) — Thousands of ride-or-die Taylor Swift fans who missed out on her U.S. concert tour last year or didn’t want to buy exorbitantly priced tickets to see her again found an out-of-the-way solution: Fly to Europe.

The pop star is scheduled to kick off the 18-city Europe leg of her record-setting Eras Tour in Paris on Thursday, and planeloads of Swifties plan to follow Miss Americana across the pond in the coming weeks. The arena where Swift is appearing said Americans bought 20% of the tickets for her four sold-out shows. Stockholm, the tour’s next stop, expects about 10,000 concertgoers from the U.S.

A concert might sound like an odd raison d’etre for visiting a foreign country, especially when fans can watch the Eras Tour from home via the documentary now streaming on Disney+. Yet online travel company Expedia says continent-hopping by Swift’s devotees is part of a larger trend it dubbed “tour tourism” while observing a pattern that emerged during Beyoncé's Renaissance world tour .

Some North American fans who plan to fly overseas for the Eras Tour said they justified the expense after noticing that tighter restrictions on ticket fees and resales in Europe made seeing Swift perform abroad no more costly — and potentially cheaper — than catching her closer to home .

“They said, ’Wait a minute, I can either spend $1,500 to go see my favorite artist in Miami, or I can take that $1,500 and buy a concert ticket, a round-trip plane ticket, and three nights in a hotel room,” Melanie Fish, an Expedia spokesperson and travel expert, said.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz beams while holding up the so-called Taylor Swift bill he signed into law as lawmakers, First Avenue employees and online ticket buyers clap Tuesday, May 7, 2024, inside the First Avenue concert venue in Minneapolis. The law, prompted by the frustration a legislator felt at not being able to buy tickets to Swift's 2023 concert in Minneapolis, will require ticket sellers to disclose all fees up front and prohibit resellers from selling more than one copy of a ticket for live events held in Minnesota, among other measures. (AP Photo/Trisha Ahmed)

That was the experience of Jennifer Warren, 43, who lives in St. Catharines, a city in the Niagara region of Ontario. She and her 11-year-old son love Swift but had no luck scoring what she considered as decently priced tickets in the U.S. Undeterred, Warren and her husband decided to plan a European vacation around wherever she managed to get seats. It turned out to be Hamburg, Germany.

AP AUDIO: Fans are following Taylor Swift to Europe after finding Eras Tour tickets less costly there

AP correspondent Jennifer King reports Taylor Swift is heading to Europe, and her U.S. fans are following.

“You get out, you get to see the world, and you get to see your favorite artist or performer at the same time, so there are a lot of wins to it,” said Warren, who works as the director of research and innovation for a mutual insurance company.

The three VIP tickets she secured close to the stage — “I would call it brute-force dumb luck” — cost 600 euros ($646) each. Swift subsequently announced six November tour dates in Toronto, within driving distance of Warren’s home. “Absolute nose-bleed seats” already are going for 3,000 Canadian dollars ($2,194) on secondary resale sites like Viagogo, Warren said.

TOUR TOURISM: IS IT REALLY A THING?

Hard-core fans trailing their favorite singer or band on tour is not a new phenomenon. “Groupie” emerged in the late 1960s as a somewhat derogatory word for the ardent followers of rock bands. Deadheads took to the road in the 1970s to pursue the Grateful Dead from city to city.

More recently, music festivals like California’s Coachella and England’s Glastonbury, and concert residencies in Las Vegas by the likes of Elton John, Lady Gaga and Adele, have attracted travelers to places they wouldn’t otherwise visit, Fish noted.

Travel and entertainment analysts have also spoken of a pent-up consumer demand for “experiences” over material objects since the coronavirus pandemic. Some think the willingness of music lovers to broaden their fandom horizons is part of the same mass cultural correction.

“It does seem like it’s more than a structural shift, maybe a personality transformation we all went through,” said Natalia Lechmanova, the chief Europe economist for the Mastercard Economics Institute.

As Swift hopscotches across Europe, Lechmanova expects restaurants and hotels to see the same boost that Mastercard observed within a 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) radius of concert venues in the U.S. cities she visited in 2023. The U.S. dollar’s strong value against the euro may also increase retail spending on apparel, memorabilia, beauty products and supplies for the friendship bracelets fans exchange as part of the Eras Tour experience, the economist said.

Former college roommates Lizzy Hale, 34, who lives in Los Angeles, and Mitch Goulding, 33, who lives in Austin, Texas, already had tickets to see the Eras Tour in L.A. last summer when they decided to try to get ones for Paris, London or Edinburgh, Scotland, too. They saw a Europe concert trip as a makeup for travel plans they had in May 2020 to celebrate Goulding’s birthday but had to cancel due to the pandemic.

Goulding managed to secure VIP tickets for one of Swift’s three Stockholm shows. He, Hale and two other friends scheduled a 10-day trip that also includes time in Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

“As people who enjoy traveling and enjoy music, if you can find an opportunity to combine the two, it’s really special,” said Hale, who is pregnant with her first child.

The local economic impact of what the zeitgeist has termed “Swiftonomics” and the “Swift lift” can be considerable . It’s no wonder the exclusive arrangement Singapore’s government made with Swift to make the city-state her only tour stop in Southeast Asia earlier this year aroused regional jealousy .

No European governments have complained of their countries not being among the dozen selected for the Europe leg of the Eras Tour, although some fans have expressed surprise that Gelsenkirchen, a city with a population of about 264,000 is one of the three cities in Germany that made the cut.

Airbnb reported Tuesday that searches on its platform for the U.K. cities where Swift is performing in June and August — Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and London — increased an average of 337% when tickets went on sale last summer.

Not to be outdone when it comes to trend-spotting, the property rentals company cited the demand as an example of “passion tourism,” or travel “driven by concerts, sports and other cultural events.”

In Stockholm , 120,000 out-of-towners from 130 countries -- among them 10,000 from the U.S. — are expected to swarm Sweden’s capital this month, Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Chief Economist Carl Bergqvist said. Stockholm is the only Scandinavian city on Swift’s tour, and airlines added extra flights from nearby Denmark, Finland and Norway to bring people to the May 17-19 shows, he said.

The city’s 40,000 hotel rooms are sold out even though prices skyrocketed for the tour dates, Bergqvist said. Concert visitors are expected to pump around 500 million Swedish kroner, or over $46 million, into the local economy over the course of their stays, an estimate that does not include what they paid for Swift tickets or to get to Sweden, he said.

“So this is going to be huge for the tourism sector in Sweden and Stockholm in particular,” Bergqvist said.

Nightclubs, restaurants and bars are seizing the opportunity to cater to fans with Taylor Swift-themed events, such as karaoke, quizzes and after-concert dance parties.

Houston resident Caroline Matlock, 29, saw Swift more than a year ago when the Eras Tour came to the Texas city. Now she’s making more friendship bracelets and trying to learn a few words of Swedish as she prepares to see the 3 1/2-hour show in Stockholm. The idea of seeing Swift in Europe was her friend’s, and Matlock needed some persuading at first.

“I was like, ‘I only want to go if it’s a country I haven’t been to. I’ve seen Taylor Swift,’” she said.

Visiting the Scandinavian cities of Oslo and Gothenburg is on their itinerary. The concert is the last night of the trip and Matlock looks forward to interacting with Swifties from other countries: “Americans tend to have a very obsessive culture, especially Taylor Swift-related, so I’m curious if the crowd will be more toned-down.”

WILL TOUR TOURISM ENDURE AFTER ERAS?

It remains to be seen if the music tourism trend has legs as long and strong as Swift’s and Beyoncé's, and if it will carry over to Billie Eilish, Usher and other artists with world tours scheduled next year. Expedia’s Fish thinks other big-name artists in Europe this summer will prove that booking a foreign trip around a concert is catching on.

Kat Morga, a travel consultant based in Nashville, isn’t so sure. Morga saw Swift perform in Nashville last year and helped two clients with school-aged children book European family vacations this summer that include seeing Swift in concert. But she thinks the difficulty of navigating ticket purchases through language barriers, currency conversions, international banking regulations and the risk of cancellations will limit the appeal of regular gig getaways.

“I think this is an anomaly,” Morga said. “People aren’t typically going to build their $20,000 huge family vacation only because Taylor Swift is there. She’s the one-off. She’s special.”

Booking Holdings CEO Glenn Fogel, whose company operates Booking.com, priceline.com, agoda.com, Kayak and OpenTable, is even less enthusiastic about concert tours as a tourism instigator. The Swift Effect causes a “little blip” when the superstar goes to smaller destinations, but for the worldwide travel industry, “one star touring around does not make a difference,” he said.

“It may just shift it a little bit. A person was going to go to the Caribbean for a week vacation. Instead that person (says), ‘Let’s travel to the Taylor Swift thing,’” Fogel said. “It doesn’t increase it. It just moves it from here to there.”

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour might be about to do for Europe what it did for America

  • The European leg of Taylor Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour kicked off on Thursday.
  • The Eras tour  is the first concert tour to gross over $1 billion, estimates showed.
  • She's crossing the Atlantic at a time when several of the continent's economies are struggling.

Insider Today

The European leg of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour kicked off in Paris on Thursday.

Last summer, the "Tortured Poets Department" singer's concerts helped boost the US economy, driving up spending on everything from restaurants to hotels across the country.

Estimates showed that the Eras tour is the first concert tour to gross over $1 billion.

In 2023, the research firm QuestionPro estimated that the Eras Tour would boost US consumer spending by an eye-popping $4.6 billion . Meanwhile, key business figurers ranging from Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi to policymakers at the Federal Reserve have noted the positive impact Swift's concerts have had on business.

Economists have even coined new phrases like " Swiftonomics " and " funflation " to refer to the idea that in the aftermath of the pandemic, Americans are more willing to splash the cash on live events that might lead to once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

Now, after quick pit stops in Singapore — where Swift's big-money shows made the country mountains of money and sparked concert envy among its Southeast Asian neighbors — and Australia , Swift is set to embark on an 18-city European tour.

Related stories

She could be set to give the continent's economy a similar boost.

Planeloads of American fans have followed her across the Atlantic, The Associated Press reported on Thursday, which is likely to fuel an uplift in spending.

When Beyoncé came to Sweden's capital, Stockholm, last summer, economists noted that her fans had spent so much on hotels and meals that they'd triggered a slight bump in inflation. This summer, the city is expecting 10,000 extra concertgoers to fly over from the US to see Swift.

Hotel booking statistics also help to capture the sense of how in-demand Eras Tour tickets are.

By August 2023, hotels in Cardiff and Liverpool in the UK — where Swift will be stopping in June — had already reached occupancy levels of more than 50% for her tour dates, hotel research firm STR reported, with rooms in Cardiff going for $230 more than they typically do.

In December, vacation rental data firm AirDNA found that demand for short-term rentals during Swift's tour dates in Vienna, Austria, and Warsaw, Poland, had already surged by around 2,000%.

The economies of Europe arguably need that boost in spending even more than the US did. The ongoing war in Ukraine has hammered the continent, with one country where Swift will play — Ireland — which was in a technical recession as of late last year — and several others, including the UK, having only just exited a period of negative growth.

Perhaps that means it's the perfect time to welcome back Miss Americana.

Taylor Swift's European Eras Tour leg kicked off in Paris with a new setlist. See which songs are in and out.

May 9, 2024 / 8:24 PM EDT / CBS/AFP

Taylor Swift fever struck Paris on Thursday as the highest-grossing tour in history finally arrived in Europe, with fans treated to the first-ever performance of songs from her latest album.

The Eras Tour began its European leg with four dates at the La Defense Arena in Paris.

"I wish I could have toured Europe more. This is a dream crowd," the 34-year-old megastar told the ecstatic audience.

There were deafening shrieks as images of typewriter sheets indicated that songs off the new album "The Tortured Poets Department" were starting late in the show.

Emerging in a lyrics-covered dress, she ran through several of the darker new tracks starting with "But Daddy I Love Him" and "Fortnight", a particularly furious rendition of "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" and an elaborate "I Can Do it with a Broken Heart," with a golden-era Hollywood dance routine.

Other "The Tortured Poets Department" songs performed included "So High School," "Down Bad" and "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," according to ETonline .

"You were the first crowd to see songs from 'The Tortured Poets Department'," she said, before adding: "Or, as I like to call it, 'Female Rage: the Musical.'"

That was a dream come true for many in the audience.

"I've been so excited for so long, I can't believe it's actually happening," said 11-year-old Emma, who had flown in with her mother from New York.

Adding songs from "The Tortured Poets Department" wasn't the only change to the show and its 45-song setlist.

Perhaps the biggest change, according to ETonline, is the "Folklore" and "Evermore" setlists were combined, cutting four songs across the two albums: "'Tis the Damn Season," "Tolerate It," "The 1" and "The Last Great American Dynasty."

"On the Eras Tour, we have now reunited the sisters, combined them into one chapter," Swift said, according to video posted to social media. "You can call it "Folklore, Evermore" or you can call it the Sister Albums! You can call it whatever you want as long as you promise to sing 'Champagne Problems' with me."

"The Archer" was removed from the "Lovers" portion of the show and "Long Live" was cut from the "Speak Now" era setlist, according to ETonline.

One of the secret songs was, fittingly, the "Midnights" bonus track "Paris."

Parts of the show were also rearranged to make room for the newest era. The "Red" era was moved from the fifth to the third slot, according to ETonline, and the newest album was introduced following the "1989" set.

The venue said a fifth of the crowd were from the United States — many attracted by Europe's rules against charging huge mark-ups on resale tickets that can save Americans thousands of dollars compared with shows at home.

Georg'Ann Daly decided to celebrate her 23rd birthday with the Paris show. It meant flying from Nashville to Chicago to London and catching the Eurostar to Paris.

"I've always been obsessed with Taylor Swift," she told AFP.

A handful of superfans camped out from Tuesday in Paris to ensure they got a prime spot.

"I didn't plan to, but I came to check it out and I saw the first tents and I panicked a little," said Chris, 30.

Noah, 20, is seeing all four Paris concerts — he used 22 email addresses to get through the lottery system and secure the tickets.

After wrapping up her run in Paris, Swift will head for dates in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria.

The Eras Tour has worked its way across North and South America and Asia since starting in March 2023.

By the end of the year, it had already become the first to sell more than $1 billion in tickets and is on track to more than double that by the time it concludes in Vancouver this December.

Swift's popularity shows no sign of dimming — the new album sold 1.4 million copies on its first day and broke every streaming record , reaching a billion streams on Spotify within five days.

Swift's tell-all dissections of her love stories have been the fuel powering her global domination, and fans have been poring over "The Tortured Poets Department" for cryptic clues about ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, her short-but-dramatic fling with Matty Healy (lead singer of The 1975), and her current partner, American football star Travis Kelce.

"Taylor talks about toxic relationships, impossible love, politics, mental health, and so much more," said Chris as she waited by her tent for the big moment. "I think we can all find a song that resonates with our experiences."

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour could boost Europe’s economy more than America’s, experts predict

taylor swift performing

There’s no disputing it—Taylor Swift is one of a kind.

The American pop icon filled a blank space the world didn’t know it had with her soulful music. And although her songs are impactful, Swift is an economic tour de force, too.

Her Eras Tour, which kicked off last year on the heels of a global pandemic, shattered records as the highest-grossing tour in history. Every city she performed at saw a boost in business, whether from retail, food and beverage, or hotel room sales.

Swift’s influence is so profound that the Eras Tour generated $5 billion in consumer spending in the U.S. in just six months, Nomura estimates suggest.

The singer is now applying her economic clout in Europe for this cruel summer—and experts think its benefits might exceed the U.S. leg of her tour.

What makes Europe different for Swift?

Swift is doing over 50 shows, including in the U.K., Switzerland and Poland.

While the timing and macroeconomic environments differ in each country compared to the U.S., Europe as a whole has some general advantages.

“[Europe has] stronger public transportation networks than the U.S., and so it’s easier to get to the venue from a wider region. And so, we think that the impact is likely to be more spread out than just within that two-and-a-half mile radius,” Natalia Lechmanova, chief Europe economist at Mastercard Economics Institute, told Fortune .

That means people don’t necessarily have to be close to concert locations before attending, as they can bet on the efficient transport system to get them where they need to go. It also helps that Swift’s tour dates are peppered over the summer when people are already looking to travel.

If that wasn’t reason enough, Swift is also set to perform new tracks from a double album she released last month in her upcoming shows. That bodes well for the pop star’s American fans, many of whom have flocked to Paris in higher numbers than for the Olympics to watch Swift perform. Others are traveling to different parts of Europe to catch a glimpse of their idol.

Caroline Babinski, a 26-year-old based in New York, is flying to Zurich to attend one of Swift’s gigs in July. She caught two of Eras Tour shows in the States but that hasn’t stopped her from going for yet another—but this time, it’ll be in Europe.

“It was much, much easier to book in Zurich. When I was trying to go to the U.S. shows I actually never got a pre-sale,” Babinski told Fortune , adding that tickets were also much cheaper compared to the show she went to in Philadelphia.

Babinski said she spent roughly $1,500 on the trip to Zurich, where she will stay with and attend Swift’s concert with her sister.

“I think it’s worth it,” she said. “The production of the show she’s doing right now is just unmatched.”

taylor swift performing

‘So it’s gonna be forever, or it’s gonna go down in flames?’

Lechmanova identified the strong U.S. dollar and the increasing trend towards people spending on experiences rather than material goods as other factors driving American Swifties to Europe.

Economies the world over have had a rough few years coping with interest rates. It’s taken a lot of work, but inflation has finally started to cool down in most major economies, even if it’s not as low as their central banks would like.

However, the sudden demand for hotel rooms and food and beverage services leading up to significant concerts can fuel inflation fleetingly. It happened in Sweden last July, during the “ Beyoncé blip ,” when core inflation slowed less than expected during the month of the singer’s Renaissance tour shows in Stockholm.

Could that be a cause for concern in Europe with Swift’s Eras Tour? Unlikely, Lechmanova said.

“It can lead to a blip on that day, but then it comes down. So when it comes to [the] impact on inflation trends in Europe, that is nothing to really rave about,” she said.

While Swift’s concerts will slip away like a moment in time, they’ll have a more considerable impact in smaller cities than bigger ones, Nomura’s analysts wrote in a March note. The reason is that behemoths like London and Paris can absorb large numbers of additional visitors in a way that Liverpool, for example, cannot.

In the U.K. alone, Barclays estimates a boost of £1 billion ($1.27 billion) for the economy, with concert ticket holders spending 12 times more than the average Brit does on a night out. Swifties are feeding the mania by splurging on concert-themed films and dressing up for the artist’s different “eras.”

A more localized impact can also be seen in Ireland, where Swift has three gigs lined up in June, George Moran, European economist at Nomura, told Fortune.

Still, there’s a risk of overestimating the economic impact, he warns.

“U.S. cities and their placement of large stadiums can be very different from the international cities Taylor Swift will visit in 2024,” Moran said, adding that any effects, as seen from the Beyoncé blip in Sweden, are more sector-based (such as in hospitality) rather than having a notable impact at a macroeconomic level.

“If the effect was not visible in a small economy like Sweden, it is very unlikely to have a sizable effect on larger economies,” he said.

In any case, Europe has already rolled out the red carpet for Swift and her string of performances through to August.

With fans swarming her at different venues, waiting with bated breath to watch her live, it looks like Swift already owns the summer.

Taylor Swift has had a number of prominent features on her recent albums, but it hasn’t often gone the other way. But she’s gracing one of her favorite tourmates with a guest appearance on an upcoming album. Gracie Abrams revealed the track list Monday morning for her “The Secret of Us” album, and in what may almost count as a title track, the fifth song on the record is “us.” (lower-case U, with a period), with Swift listed as the featured artist.

“June 21. Screaming so loud,” Abrams wrote on Instagram in announcing the track list via an image of the back cover.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gracie Abrams (@gracieabrams)

Popular on Variety

“us.” is track 5 on Abrams’ album, which will inevitably lead to conjecture about whether Abrams places as much value on the heightened heartbreak value of a track 5 as much as Swift notoriously does.

Other titles listed for the release include “Felt Good About You,” “Blowing Smoke,” “I Love You, I’m Sorry,” “Let It Happen,” “Tough Love,” “I Knew It, I Know You,” “Normal Thing,” “Good Luck Charlie,” “Free Now” and “Close to You,” the last of which is listed as a “P.S.” track following track 12 — maybe because it’s a true postscript or maybe because Abrams doesn’t want to get unlucky by following in Swift’s footsteps with a true 13-track album.

This will mark Abrams’ second official full-length album release, following 2023’s “Good Riddance.” Although 2021’s “This Is What It Feels Like,” which was billed as an EP or “project,” ran to album length at 12 tracks, and was preceded by another EP, 2020’s “Minor,” Abrams said she considered “Good Riddance,” which was her first effort to have Dessner working with her on its entirety, to be her true album debut.

Abrams was on “The Today Show” last week to talk about the new single and spoke about her time opening on the Eras Tour in 2023. “I watched every single one of her shows that I was lucky enough to open — I think I did 31 and I watched from every place possible in every stadium, just trying to pick up on how she’s able to do what she does. And she’s such a one-of-a-kind person, friend, artist, all the things.”

At the Cincinnati stop of last year’s tour, weather prevented Abrams from being able to do her customary opening set, so Swift invited Abrams to perform “I Miss You, I’m Sorry” as a duet in the middle of her headlining set, after running through it one time in a dressing room beforehand.

Swift’s features on other artists’ recordings have been rare, but not unheard of. She showed her continuing affinity for Dessner and his team by featuring on a recent album by the National (as well as participating in their collaborative Big Red Machine project). Other features include Haim’s “Gasoline” remix, “Highway Don’t Care” by Tim McGraw and “The Joker and the Queen” by Ed Sheeran.
