Karol G Announces $trip Love Tour 2022: Here Are the Dates

The announcement comes on the heels of her Coachella performance, dropping a new single, and winning big at the 2022 Latin AMAs.

Just hours after officially wrapping her two-weekend performance at Coachella, Karol G announced she’ll be hitting the road once again with a new summer and fall tour.

Coined the $trip Love tour — which is produced by AEG Presents — the Colombian singer kicks off the trek on Sept. 6 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. She’ll make pit stops in New York, New York, Toronto, Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, Las Vegas, and more before wrapping on Oct. 29 at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena.

“There has never been a tour where they sing to love so nasty,” the singer wrote on Instagram, alongside a nearly one-minute video showing footage of her in a bed, and other scenes of professional pole dancers.

The announcement comes on the heels of a successful week for Karol, who not only performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, but also released her new single “Provenza” and won six awards at the 2022 Latin American Music Awards ,including the coveted artist of the year and album of the year for KG0516 . Additionally, her Becky G-assisted “Mamiii” continues to hold the No. 1 spot on the Hot Latin Songs chart.

$trip Love tour follows Karol’s 2021 Bichota tour, which grossed $10.9 million and sold 128,000 tickets across 24 shows according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore.

Tickets for the 2022 trek go on sale at noon local time on April 29 via KarolGMusic.com . Artist pre-sale will begin at noon local time on April 26 with code “AMOR.”

Colombian reggaeton star Karol G has achieved what a select few of her countrymen can lay claim to: she is a household name in the U.S. Credit the American teenagers who’ve embraced La Bichota as one of their own, with admiration and respect.

“I feel like a great part of my success so far has been that connection: it has taken me a lot of effort and sacrifice to get to where I am today,” she tells Variety . “Lots of people know that and I’m lucky enough that people are getting to know me and have tasked themselves with learning my story.”

Karol’s music, carefully crafted for rule-breaking femmes (“I’m not here for you to fall in love with me, baby”), paired with the large-scale spectacles built for arena stages make for the type of all-night affairs regularly followed-up with Bichota-themed afterparties. Fans of all ages in red wigs and stilettos make up the sea of concert-goers and on stage, Karol makes her grand entrance inside a floating barb-wired heart, backed by a team of pole dancers who compliment her every note with the ease of a booty pop.

Karol came up locally around her native Medellín. Alongside her father and former manager, Guillermo Giraldo, she performed at events and festivals and networked. That led to work as a backup singer for one of reggaeton’s earliest leaders, Reykon, and receiving major co-signs from budding male counterparts in the genre like J. Balvin and Nicky Jam.

“In Colombia, there’s so much local talent and honestly, we listen to our own music the most,” Karol says, highlighting her hometown shows at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium as “the most incredible and special experience I had in my life.” She continues, “I’m proud of the fact that my [home country] loves me, they feel proud of me because I have a great sense of belonging to my country. I love saying everywhere I go that I am Latin, that I am from Colombia.”

It was also her father’s taste in music, and his own goals as an aspiring musician and singer, that helped cultivate Karol’s unfettered method of music-making. “I specifically remember him listening to Yuri, Myriam Hernandez, Juan Gabriel, and he listened to classics — vallenatos, Colombian even Puerto Rican salsas and Cuban music. He loved Metallica, he listened to Nirvana, and would watch their live performances and music videos…”

This brings to mind the post-punk cover of her hallmark “Bichota” by Chilean band Friolento , which went viral earlier this summer. Says Karol with a squeal: “ O sea , just imagine my reaction when I first heard that song ! I was literally going insane. I am always listening to different versions people make of my songs, especially my favorite song. I thought it was super original and people do reggaeton or acoustic versions, but this one really, really truly fascinated me.”

In her own vault, Karol admits she’s got a few older songs that teeter between urban music and various other styles (“I tried one with tango, it was a song that never came out but I loved it”). And so long as a song or project doesn’t feel “forced,” she says she’s open to the crossover experience. She recalls being given the option to record the electro banger “Don’t Be Shy” with Tiësto in either English or Spanish and feeling inclined to take the opportunity to try English, not only as a personal challenge but to see where the song would land globally seeing the rise in popularity of Latin music and despite the fact that “Latinos don’t expect us to make music in English now that even English-speakers are enjoying songs in Spanish.”

Karol’s $trip Love Tour will wrap on Nov. 2 at TD Garden in Boston and in March 2023, Karol will bring the tour to Puerto Rico’s Hiram Bithorn Stadium.

KAROL G Announces Strip Love Tour

After two successful and memorable shows at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival KarolG announced that she’s once again going on tour. The multi-platinum global artist announced via her instagram account her new “$trip Love Tour”.

 The tour, produced by AEG Presents will visit 30 cities in North America. Starting at Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, on September 6 of this year, will make stops in New York, Toronto, Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, Las Vegas and more before wrapping in Vancouver, BC on October 29 th.

Fans can purchase tickets at www.karolgmusic.com on Friday, April 29 th  at 12:00 p.m. local time.

After breaking multiple sales records with her previous  “ Bichota To u r,” Karol G promises to make her new “$trip Love Tour” the most impressive shows in her career bringing to life all the greatest hits of her music repertoire.

In the past two weekends alone, KAROL G appeared on stage twice at the acclaimed Coachella Festival, adding another important milestone to her career. The singer-songwriter not only represented Latin America on a world-class stage, but also captivated the massive audience.

The AEG-produced tour will hit 30 North American cities in Sept. and Oct. 2022, including major cities like New York, Toronto, Miami, and Los Angeles. “After breaking multiple sales records with her previous ‘Bichota Tour,’ Karol G promises to make her new ‘$trip Love Tour’ some of the most impressive shows in her career where she will bring to life all the greatest hits of her music repertoire,” the new tour’s press release reads. We can then presume that the Colombian star will perform not only her new singles “PROVENZA” and “MAMIII,” but also now-classics like “200 Copas,” “Bichota,” and “Tusa.”

This tour announcement comes right after Karol captivated hundreds of thousands of fans during her Coachella’s main stage performances on April 17 and 24. For the second Coachella weekend, she performed her newest single, “ PROVENZA ,” for the first time, giving us a taste of this upcoming $trip Love Tour. The song is already becoming a hit, having reached the No. 1 spot on YouTube’s “Global Trending” chart only a couple of days after its release.

With that in mind, it’s clear that La Bichota is at her peak and embracing her moment by continuing her live performances: Bichota Tour Reloaded (in Latin America) and this newly announced tour in fall 2022.

Tickets for $trip Love Tour will be on sale this Friday, April 29, at 12 p.m. local time.

Inside Karol G's Sold-Out Brooklyn Show

The Colombian singer's $trip Love Tour marks the start of a new era.

Karol G brought a bit of Colombia to Brooklyn last week.

With her $trip Love Tour, the "Bichota" singer has been promoting her new album, KG0516, all over the world. She touched down at Brooklyn's Barclays Center for a sold-out show, and BAZAAR.com got an exclusive look behind the scenes. In a series of photos by Karol's tour photographer, Christopher Cornejo, fans can see the Colombian superstar get glammed up before the show, interact with fans, and perform her Latin Grammy Award-winning music.

The massive setlist for the night included hits and fan favorites like her most recent single, "Gatúbela"; her spring 2022 single, "Provenza"; and her smash hit, "Tusa." The show was all about the theatrics, with Karol making her entrance onstage in a giant thorny heart and taking a dance break in a flying Ferrari in front of an audience of almost 20,000 fans.

Her music video for "Gatúbela" and the $trip Love Tour are making it clear that the star is leaning into a more sultry and sensual image, with her music sure to follow suit.
