Princess cruise dining FAQ

princess cruises suite breakfast

Is food on Princess Cruises included?

Sit-down meals in the main dining room, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, are always included on a Princess cruise, and the menu varies somewhat daily. Also included is a buffet, either called World Fresh Marketplace or Horizon Court, depending on the ship, as well as fast casual and grab-and-go spots on board that serve pizza, tacos, burgers, pastries and ice cream.

Specialty restaurants including Crown Grill, Princess's steak and seafood house, and Sabatini's, the signature Italian restaurant, require a surcharge that's priced at a flat rate per adult or child; some menu items also require an additional surcharge no matter the age of the guest.

Are drinks included on Princess cruise ships?

Select beverages are always included: iced tea, hot tea, brewed coffee, hot chocolate, milk, fruit juice, lemonade and tap water. Everything else, including soft drinks, wine, beer, cocktails, spirits and specialty coffees, must either be purchased a la carte or through one of the cruise line's beverage packages .

Do I need reservations?

Reservations are encouraged for the main dining room and the specialty restaurants, and it's best to make them as early as possible ; walk-in parties will be accommodated on a space-available basis. Guests can make reservations via the Princess MedallionClass app or at guest services once you're on board. If you wish to eat at the same time every night, you can do so by reserving your tables in advance.

Platinum and Elite Captain's Circle members have early access to reservations. Passengers booked in a Full Suite or Reserve Collection Mini-Suite don't need to make dining reservations as they will always be accommodated; they also have access to a dedicated space in the main dining room with expedited seating and an expanded menu.

Does Princess Cruises have an evening dress code?

"Smart casual" attire will be appropriate for the main dining room, buffet and fast-casual restaurants. You might want to pack something dressier for the specialty restaurants or one of the more upscale dining experiences like Chef's Table, 360 or a winemaker dinner.

On sailings that are five nights or longer, there will be one or more formal nights, which do require adhering to a dress code in the dining venues . Cocktail dresses, evening gowns or dressy pantsuits are appropriate for women, while dark suits, tuxedos or dinner jackets and slacks are required for men , along with dressy footwear. If you don't want to dress up or forgot appropriate attire, you're welcome to dine at the buffet or any of the other casual dining options on board during formal night.

Is there assigned seating in the main dining room?

There is currently no assigned seating at any dining venues on board Princess ships; however, that is changing for cruises departing on or after September 14. For those sailings, guests can choose between traditional seating (with assigned dining times, tables, tablemates and waiters in the main dining room) or flexible seating. Within flexible seating, passengers can either make reservations to dine at a specific time on any given night or walk in when they're hungry to access the first available table.

Until September, Princess will not offer assigned seating, and guests can choose to make reservations or not for the main dining room. If you are a solo diner or part of a couple or small group, your host might ask if you would like to sit with another party of a similar size in the main dining room; the choice is up to you.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

You can use the Cruise Personalizer to indicate your dietary preferences, including requests for low-sodium, low-fat, low-sugar and vegetarian diets. Kosher meals and baby food are available with advanced written requests. If you have allergies or medical needs related to food, you must inform Princess in writing — check the line's website for more details. Princess Cruises also recently introduced a series of vegan menus for dinner in the main dining room, including starters, soups, salads, pastas and main dishes.

Where can I get snacks on board?

princess cruises suite breakfast

You'll find lots of spots to grab a quick bite, dessert or coffee, including Coffee & Cones, Patisserie, Swirls Ice Cream Bar, The Pastry Shop, International Cafe and Gelateria — options vary depending on the ship. Food at these venues is included, but there is a charge for specialty coffees and teas unless you have a beverage package.

Is room service included on Princess Cruises?

Guests can use the designated button on their cabin's phone to order room service 24 hours a day; each order incurs a $5 delivery fee, which is waived for those with Princess Plus or Princess Premier status.

You can also use the OceanNow feature in the Princess Medallion Class app to order food to be delivered to your cabin or anywhere else on the ship, like the pool deck. This feature is included with Princess Plus and Princess Premium; otherwise, there is a one-time access fee of $14.99 per person per voyage and a $5 delivery fee per order. Food and beverage surcharges may apply for some items ordered via room service.

Princess cruise breakfast room service?! + door hanger menu ⚓ cruise food ⚓ cruise tips ⚓ How to get coffee and tea in your room first thing in the morning!

If you want coffee or tea first thing in the morning during your Princess cruise without leaving your cabin, then you can do room service for breakfast in the form of the “stateroom breakfast”!

It’s free to get breakfast delivered to your room if you use the classic door hanger menu!

princess cruise breakfast food room service delivery. stateroom breakfast cruise ship

Here are the basics of how to get breakfast room service to your cabin during your Princess cruise:

  • You will receive a breakfast card in your cabin.
  • Fill out the breakfast card with your requested items and time, and place it on your door handle before you go to bed.
  • In the morning, breakfast will be served at the time you requested!
  • In the evening, your room steward will give you another breakfast card, so you can repeat the process!

princess breakfast room service order. stateroom breakfast

The stateroom breakfast isn’t anything glamorous, but I don’t like to eat a lot first thing in the morning anyway, so I found it to be perfect.

I ordered a few light items to get be started in the morning.

princess breakfast fruit. room service breakfast

Most importantly, I requested a pot of hot water so I could start making my TEA immediately upon waking up!

I literally wrote “pot of hot water” on the breakfast card, and that’s what they brought!

princess cruise breakfast food room service delivery. stateroom breakfast cruise ship

There is no coffee maker in the cabins of Princess cruise ships.

So the stateroom breakfast room service is also how you can have coffee first thing in the morning without leaving your room.

If you want something more filling, you can go to the free buffet for breakfast every morning. And although I never went, the main dining room also serves free breakfast, although I’m not sure if that is every day or just sea days. Lunch in the main dining room only seemed to be available on sea days. I also never went for lunch.

Anyone staying in any type of cabin can get free breakfast delivered to your cabin.

So you can get breakfast room service even if you are staying in a measly inside cabin!

I can call it a measly inside cabin because I was staying in a measly inside cabin during the cruise I got breakfast room service every port day! 😆

I finally tried the stateroom breakfast room service on my third Princess cruise.

I really wanted hot water so I could make tea first thing in the morning, and having morning excursions meant limited time in the morning to prepare said tea on my own.

Getting hot water on my own would mean waking up even earlier and immediately making my way to the buffet area to get hot water.

Well, it’s so much easier if you have your hot water delivered to your stateroom first thing in the morning!

How convenient!

So room service would mean that I could have my tea almost immediately without having to get dressed, walk down the hall, walk through the buffet, etc etc!

I did get myself a cabin just below the lido deck to make access to the buffet area easier! The buffet is on lido deck. aka you can get hot water (and basic coffee and tea) on your own on lido deck, for free.

So the room service at breakfast also turned into my wake-up call.

princess breakfast delivery room service early morning. princess cruise breakfast room service

There was even one breakfast I decided I didn’t want milk with my cereal so I didn’t request milk.

Well, they brought me milk anyway thinking I had just forgotten to request it with the cereal.

How thoughtful! I decided to use the milk after all!

What time can you get breakfast?

You can request breakfast to arrive to your cabin between 6:30am and 10:30am.

princess breakfast time room service order. stateroom breakfast

Now, I did not pay attention to the breakfast delivery timings that closely to know how on-time the deliveries were.

I had just woken up, after all.

But I do think the day I selected a later time, the breakfast came a little past the time I indicated. This was not a problem, just an observation.

And one the day I selected an early time, it did come either on time or early.

So perhaps the later the time you select, the more of a chance there is for them to get backed up… ?! 🤔

Just something to keep in mind if the time you receive your breakfast is important to you!

Suite Breakfast Question

Cool Cruiser

I read over and over again that one can ask for “anything within reason” when having the suite breakfast and how the suite breakfast is “one of the best perks included with a suite”.  Sounds like a neat perk.

Perhaps a silly question but what is it that one can order that elevates a breakfast to a point that’s so special?

Aren’t ham and eggs and French toast and pancakes and waffles and whatever else pretty much the same anywhere? There is clearly something I’m missing.

What is it that those who have been there are ordering that makes it so special?

They have their own waffle iron.  The eggs Benedict is fresh and nicely presented.  You can request salsa for breakfast.  Omelettes with whatever you want (within reason/crab/avocado).  They have their own espresso machine.  Fresh squeezed orange juice.  No pancakes.  Choice of fresh fruit.  Custom order your breakfast (to pick and chose).  No rush to get you out.

How about steak and eggs, or pork chops and eggs?

I've asked for the cowboy breakfast steak they sometimes have in the MDR.  That's the best I could do for a steak.  At least I didn't have to plan ahead.  If it was in the MDR, I'd have it for breakfast.  Never tried to ask for pork chops or other meats.  I'm guessing you could ask for a hamburger patty???

Try ordering an omelette with crab meat in the main dining room.

Plus, your food is cooked to order, versus stuff that's been cooked and held warm.

2 minutes ago, CineGraphic said:     Try ordering an omelette with crab meat in the main dining room. Plus, your food is cooked to order, versus stuff that's been cooked and held warm.

I think that's the key, cooked to order, isn't everything, even the most pedestrian, better when fresh?

I'm an avocado omelette guy which I agree isn't all that special, but as CineGraphic said, try ordering one in the MDR.

There's a level of attentiveness of the staff that just isn't possible in a mass setting.  If you're the sort who "always" has a latte for breakfast, within a couple of days, you'll hear the machine start working when you appear in the doorway, if you like a particular pastry (DW likes chocolate croissants) they will be there waiting for you without a second request.

Small things can make for a really special experience.

I often say to non-cruising friends that cruise food isn't the best meal I've ever had, but it is the best 21 consecutive meals I've ever had.  Similarly, Princess suite breakfast isn't the best breakfast of my life, but is absolutely the best 7, 10, 14 or more consecutive breakfasts of my life.

I have ordered steak and eggs before. Got a nice little filet and 2 perfectly cooked over easy eggs.

You can't get pancakes?  This feels like such a standard breakfast offering.  I knew they weren't on the menu, but I did assume that one could probably ask for them and they'd arrange it since they are not particularly difficult to make and the batter is just a slightly different composition from the waffles.

I think its the "cooked to order" aspect and the service.  The suite breakfast menu on Princess isn't that creative, kind of like the dinner menu in the Crown Grill.  We did try something new to us off the breakfast menu that the server said he'd never had anyone order before - the "fruit milk".  Tasted like the milk leftover from a bowl of cereal, I still need to research that and find out who came up with it.  I also like that the toast, english muffins, etc. are always HOT, never had any hot breakfast breads in the main dining room or from room service.  TIM - my favorite breakfast place on Princess is the International Cafe.

The last time we were in a suite, the maitre’d made sure we could order steak and eggs if we wanted to.  Now, maybe things have changed and we never took him up on that … but, we did get special made omelets with fresh salsa just for asking.  Also, I know there is turkey sausage onboard but they won’t get it for you in the MDR.  I just told the maitre’d I like that in the morning and it was there for me whenever I ordered it.   Oh, and we also got mimosas and specialty coffees with our breakfast in the mornings, regardless of whether or not you have the Princess Plus.

I agree with all of the above.  I like that it is in one of the specialty restaurants like the Crown Grill.  Relaxing quiet atmosphere, excellent service and they keep bringing the mimosas (or in my case a Cranmosa).

Haha

The french toast is different than what you get from the main dining room.  Eggs Benedict are also a step above.  Great service since there are fewer passengers.  I don't recall seeing more than 4 tables being used on any of the 5 cruises I enjoyed the suite experience.  Nice Mimosas too.

Sea Hag

We have a suite coming up, and I've got fairly modest plans for suite breakfast. I plan to ask for a plate of fresh pineapple every morning (I've done that in regular dining), and I plan to ask for eggs benedict made with smoked salmon instead of Canadian bacon one morning. That's the entire agenda.

Had the suite breakfast all last week. The service is what's so special. I must tell you that the orange juice is from concentrate not fresh.

You can ask for any fruit and any combo of breakfast items. I ask for James Beard french toast which isn't on the menu and they make it. Everything is hot and served right away.

NavyVeteran

If they have it on the ship, you can probably have it for breakfast. They may not have it available that morning, but they will have it by the next morning.

Every time we've been, it has Been fresh squeezed (at least ten cruises in the last 5 years).  Maybe a supply issue?  We have seen the back of the house crew preparing it for regular servings as well as mimosa use.  Most recently on the Grand 9\25 and 10\4 cruises.

Definitely fresh squeezed on this cruise. 😃

It has been so long I cannot remember if suite breakfast in the specialty restaurants is everyday or just on sea days.  For some reason we remember it only on sea days due to early tours on port days.  Anyone that is not having a senior moment and that has stayed in a full suite know?

On our last several cruises, the suite breakfast was available every day except disembarkation day. On disembarkation day, we ate in Club Class for breakfast.

It is lunch in Club Class and in the Main Dining Room that was available only on sea days.

HaveDogWillTravel

Real poached eggs are served in the suite breakfast vs the eggs cooked in a cup to look like they were poached served in MDR. See photos below. Also actual potatoes cubed and fried not the reconstituted potato triangles served in MDR.  Once DH was chatting with our server and mentioned he enjoyed Nutella crepes. With his breakfast he was served one made special by our server as a surprise.  The oj has always been fresh squeezed and you can have your mimosa without the oj.  No limit on # of glasses and does not count towards the 15 drinks on your drink package. Not that I can drink that much but just sayin’.

Best ever service and food is hot!

Just off the Grand and got an upgrade to a suite.  Breakfast was special.  My husband asked for sourdough toast.  Lots of discussion among the staff and the Matre D came over and apologized that they didn’t have any but to the bakery would make him some for the next day.  This was the last day of the cruise so didn’t get to test that out but thought that was incredible service.

On 10/15/2021 at 4:22 PM, Sea Hag said: We have a suite coming up, and I've got fairly modest plans for suite breakfast. I plan to ask for a plate of fresh pineapple every morning (I've done that in regular dining), and I plan to ask for eggs benedict made with smoked salmon instead of Canadian bacon one morning. That's the entire agenda.

Well that certainly would not be eggs Benedict.

New dining experience for Princess Cruises’ Suite guests

Invitation-only '360' to engage all the senses, aboard select ships only.

Go back to the e-newsletter

Princess Cruises has revealed a new dining experience for guests booked in suite accommodation aboard two of its newest ships that will replicate the Mediterranean, engaging all the senses.

Dubbed “360: An Extraordinary Experience” and available now aboard Discovery Princess and on Enchanted Princess from late January 2023, Princess Cruises says the new product will be its “most epic experience ever offered”.

The invitation-only experience transports guests nightly to the Mediterranean – no matter where they’re actually sailing – engaging all of their senses with the tastes, sights, sounds, touches and fragrances of the Mediterranean.

Subscribe to LATTE Cruise’s free eNewsletter to keep up to date with everything in the luxury cruise space.

Guests booked in suite accommodations are invited to embark on a six senses journey showcasing the spectacular hilltops of Santorini, Amalfi Coast, Barcelona and Provence. Through synchronised authentic storytelling, imagery, music, scents, cuisine and visual film, guests are introduced to local ingredients, artisans, passionate purveyors, and culinary methods simultaneously mirrored with a seven-course gourmet experience including wines that emerge from the story of each destination.

“360 is a fusion of master storytelling, world-class cuisine, visual entertainment and ground-breaking technology that manifests in what can only be described as an Extraordinary Experience,” said John Padgett, President of Princess Cruises.

“360 is a remarkable adventure that immerses our guests into the compelling cultures and flavours of the Mediterranean in a 90-minute celebration of the senses.”

With two seatings nightly, the cloaked venue accommodates 20 guests surrounded by LED walls in a circular format that places guests into featured destinations using stunning 4K cinematography. The Mediterranean takes centre stage as guests are drawn into the memories of a fellow traveller who relives her adventures and local connections made in each destination as her travel journal comes to life. Actress and model Brooke Shields is the voice of Bethany, the voyager who takes guests on the sensory journey.

360: An Extraordinary Experience is configurable and adaptable, with the Mediterranean taking the debut spotlight. Each guest participating in the experience receives a unique and limited “360” Princess Medallion.

Ultimate Guide to Princess Cruises Drinks Prices & Menus

In this post you’ll find the  Princess Cruises drinks menus and prices , correct as of 2022. Is a drinks package worth it? Making a decision about purchasing a drinks package can be difficult, so this post is designed to help you.

I was fortunate to sail on Sky Princess in August 2021 and April 2022. I took photos of the Princess Cruises drinks menus with prices whilst onboard to help you to plan your budget.

Princess Cruises Drinks Guide

On Princess, drinks can be purchased individually or with a drinks package. Princess Cruises drinks packages can be purchased in advance or within the first two days of getting onboard. If you decide to wait until you get onboard, the beverage package price is added to your onboard account and paid at the end of your cruise.

Take a look at my Complete Guide the Princess Cruises Drinks Packages 2022

There are no advantages to waiting until you get on your cruise to buy the drinks package. The price is the same whether you purchase in advance or on embarkation day.

Instead of a beverage package, you may want to consider Princess Plus or Princess Premier. In almost all cases, Princess Plus offers the best value to cruisers as it includes a drinks package along with WiFi and crew gratuities/incentives.

Take a look at my guide to Princess Plus to find out when it might not be the best choice.

Princess Premier is a new package that has been introduced in 2022 so I’d recommend taking a look at my breakdown of what’s included in the Princess Premier Package to see if it’s worth it.

This Princess Cruises drinks guide provides you with the individual prices, sourced from bar menus onboard. Although these prices are from Sky Princess, the prices seem to be the same across all Princess Cruises’ ships.

The Plus Beverage Package includes all drinks up to $12, the Premier Beverage Package includes all drinks up to $18. all alcoholic drinks by the glass
If you choose a drink that is greater than the beverage package limit, you must pay the individual drink’s price in full (new change to package rules).

Beer on Princess Cruises

There’s only one non-alcoholic lager available – Heineken 0.0 at $5.50.

Princess Cruises Drinks Menu: Ciders

There are only two ciders available on Princess ships. There are no berry fruit ciders at present on any of the menus.

White Wine List on Princess Cruises

Most of the wine on Princess Cruises can be purchased from the bars by the glass or by the bottle. If you have the Plus or Premier Beverage Packages, wine by the glass is included but you can only get a 25% discount when buying a bottle.

Princess Cruises Drinks Menu: Red Wine List

The best place to enjoy wine on Princess ships is at Vines Wine Bar, usually located on Deck 5 of the Piazza. Here you have access to wines you cannot find anywhere else on the ship.

Red wine prices range from $9 to $21 per glass.

Princess Wine List: Rose Wine

Wine flights from vines wine bar.

If you like to taste a range of different wines, wine flights are available from Vines Wine Bar in the Piazza. Wine flights are not part of the exclusions from the beverage packages are therefore are included in the Plus Package (up to $12) and Premier Package (up to $18).

The Norman Love Wine Flight pairs wine with chocolate for those who love both!

Champagne and Sparkling Wines

Champagne Cocktails

In certain bars you will be able to order Champagne cocktails. It’s more likely the inside bars will do these such as Take Five, Bellini’s and Vines.

Remember, the Plus Beverage Package covers drinks up to $12 and the Premier Beverage Package covers drinks up to $18.

Coffee and Tea Prices on Princess Cruises

The biggest selection of coffee and tea can be found at the International Cafe in the Piazza. There is a small choice of coffee and tea in the buffet.

These can be ordered in small or large sizes.

Final Thoughts on Princess Cruises Drinks

These  Princess Cruises drinks menus and prices , will hopefully give you a useful way to calculate whether a drinks package is needed.

The majority of the drinks are covered in the Plus Beverage Package and the cheapest option is purchase the Princess Plus add-on package , which includes drinks up to $12, unlimited WiFi and crew appreciation (tips) for $50 / £40 per person per day.

If you don’t plan to drink more than 5 or 6 alcoholic drinks a day you may be better off paying for drinks individually – it all depends on what you like to drink.

The 12 Best All-Inclusive Cruises for 2024

When it comes to all-inclusive cruises, there are a few different options:

  • Luxury cruise lines: All-inclusive cruise rates are available on luxury lines like Regent Seven Seas and Silversea. While more expensive than traditional cruise rates , the fares cover nearly everything, including door-to-door transfers, luxurious suite accommodations, specialty dining , premium alcoholic beverages and excursions. Plus, you don't need to show your cruise card every time you order a latte or a pre-dinner cocktail. You'll disembark the ship with very few, if any, additional charges on your final bill.
  • Cruise lines with inclusive pricing: Alternatively, you can consider an upscale cruise line like Viking, which offers fares with more-inclusive pricing and some of the amenities found on board the fully inclusive lines. However, you'll still have to budget for a few expenses, such as immersive excursions and alcoholic beverages beyond wine or beer at lunch and dinner.
  • Packages and add-ons: Other cruise lines like Oceania, Windstar and Norwegian offer add-on drink packages and other promos so you can create a more all-inclusive experience.

After comparing the costs between a truly all-inclusive cruise and a sailing with package pricing for the extras, the total price may be closer than you think.

All-Inclusive Cruises

Regent seven seas cruises.

Regent Seven Seas touts its six ships – with the newest vessel, Seven Seas Grandeur , which debuted in late 2023 – as "the world's most luxurious fleet." The line's intimate ships accommodate up to 750 guests. They feature all ocean-view suites, prestigious museum-quality art collections (including a prized Fabergé egg on the new Grandeur), and itineraries that call on more than 500 destinations around the world.

With Regent's "every luxury included" philosophy and 2-for-1 all-inclusive fares, passengers receive round-trip airfare and transfers between the airport and ship, as well as unlimited shore excursions, two- or three-night land programs (based on the itinerary), and a complimentary pre-cruise hotel package for concierge suites and higher. On the ship, enjoy a fully stocked in-suite minibar; specialty dining; unlimited fine wines, spirits and other beverages; prepaid gratuities; unlimited Wi-Fi; and free valet laundry service.

On top of personalized service, guests sailing on Regent Seven Seas cruises will enjoy immersive exploration ashore – with overnights in some ports of call – and enrichment programs. Top-notch dining includes French cuisine at Chartreuse (on select ships), Pan-Asian fare at Pacific Rim (also on select ships) and Italian fare at Sette Mari at La Veranda.

Cooking classes in the Culinary Arts Kitchen (available on Grandeur, Splendor and Explorer ), some tours and bespoke excursions, spa treatments, unique offerings, and certain wines and top-shelf liquors come with an additional cost.

Silversea Cruises

Sailing on board one of Silversea's 13 ultra-luxury cruise or expedition ships commences with the line's new chauffeur experience. This door-to-door service transports guests from home to the airport and back home on the return trip. The line's all-inclusive pricing also encompasses international or domestic flights (with business class upgrades in certain destinations), pre- and post-cruise hotel accommodations, butler service in every suite, all gratuities, gourmet dining, and complimentary alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, including Champagne.

Guests will also enjoy a staff-to-guest ratio of nearly 1-to-1 – and with no more than 728 guests. Other all-inclusive perks include at least one shore excursion in each port plus onboard lectures and programming. On expedition sailings in destinations like Antarctica , all guided Zodiac tours and landings are included in the fare.

When it comes to dining on Silversea ships, gourmet options feature French, Asian and Italian cuisine along with other international fare. For a special evening, S.A.L.T. Kitchen is a new destination-focused concept on Silver Ray, Nova , Moon and Dawn . This immersive dining experience, Sea And Land Taste, was developed in partnership with the former editor-in-chief of "Saveur Magazine," Adam Sachs. The culinary offerings with S.A.L.T. also include shore excursions, where guests can tour a 500-year-old family winery and vineyard in Croatia, visit an organic farm in Denmark, or learn to make gelato in Sicily.

Expenses not covered in Silversea's fare include salon and spa services, personal training sessions, select excursions, upgraded internet packages, and special bottles of wine or liquors.

Seabourn Cruise Line

Seabourn's seven purpose-built expedition vessels and intimate luxury cruise ships accommodate between 264 and 600 guests. The club-like atmosphere on board its ships comes with highly intuitive and personalized service with about a 1-to-1 staff-to-guest ratio. Each suite also has a dedicated personal suite host and a suite attendant that will cater to your every whim.

All-inclusive fares include oceanfront suites with walk-in closets, living areas and luxurious bathrooms. All Seabourn Encore and Ovation accommodations feature private verandas, while 90% of the suites on Seabourn Odyssey , Sojourn and Quest have balconies. Premium and penthouse suites offer additional amenities and perks.

While aboard Seabourn Cruise Line , guests will enjoy complimentary fine wines and premium spirits, welcome Champagne, and a fully stocked in-suite bar with your personalized selections. Dining is a real treat, with several venues in partnership with renowned chef Thomas Keller, such as the line's signature restaurant, The Grill by Thomas Keller. Seabourn is also a member of the prestigious Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an international association of gastronomy.

Other complimentary amenities on Seabourn's cruise ships include special evenings with dinner and live entertainment; a marina and complimentary water sports; "Caviar in the Surf" on select voyages; movie nights; a chance to shop with the chef at local markets; personal valet luggage shipping service; enrichment lectures; and more.

Additional expenses include a wide selection of epicurean, mindfulness and wellness excursions as well as cultural and historical bespoke tours. You can also book the ultimate underwater adventure on one of the line's high-tech submarines on the two expedition vessels, Seabourn Venture and Pursuit. Programs and treatments at Seabourn's Spa & Wellness are also at an additional cost.

Atlas Ocean Voyages

Atlas Ocean Voyages features "always included" cruise fares on its two purpose-built yachts, World Navigator and World Traveller. The line recently welcomed a third ship to its fleet for the 2023-24 Antarctica season, World Voyager. Atlas' high-end boutique ships cater to just 198 passengers and feature spacious staterooms and suites with panoramic windows or private balconies and beautiful public spaces and lounges. These small ships also have several options for dining, depending on the sailing and destination.

The all-inclusive fares cover complimentary dining; unlimited wines, craft beers and spirits; 24-hour bar service with canapes; a free in-room minibar; afternoon high tea; fresh-pressed juices and specialty teas and coffees; butler service; 24-hour room service; prepaid gratuities; cultural immersion in every port; and other perks.

Polar expedition fares cover private charter jet service, group transfers from the airport to the yacht, an Atlas Ocean Voyages parka and vest to take home, Zodiac sightseeing safaris, expert guided shore landings, and destination lectures and briefings.

If you're on one of the line's Epicurean Expeditions, the cultural immersion program offers complimentary special tastings, market visits and cooking demonstrations. In addition to use of the marina's water toys (on select sailings, weather permitting), guests can enjoy an authentic Portuguese dinner and an alfresco Josper Grill dining experience at 7-AFT Grill. On select voyages, culinary presentations, wine tastings and other special events are hosted by an expert.

More-Inclusive Cruises

Cruise fares with these lines include many of the amenities and perks that you'll find with the all-inclusive cruises. However, you'll still need to budget for some expenses, such as alcoholic beverages, excursions and specialty dining, depending on the line.

Viking's ocean fleet of nine 930-passenger all-veranda ships offers a nearly all-inclusive experience for guests. The upscale Scandinavian-inspired ships feature king-bed staterooms and suites with many amenities, including luxurious linens and plush robes, 24-hour room service, and free Wi-Fi – plus an in-room minibar with soft drinks, water and snacks. Higher-category staterooms on Viking Ocean Cruises come with additional perks like priority dinner and spa reservations, early stateroom access, and a welcome bottle of Champagne.

Cruise fares also include complimentary dining at all the venues; one free shore excursion in every port; beer, wine and soft drinks at lunch and dinner; specialty teas, coffee and bottled water; access to the spa; lectures and performances; port taxes and fees; and more.

Viking also has two 378-passenger Polar Class 6 expedition vessels, Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris. These ships also offer a mostly all-inclusive experience with the same amenities as their oceangoing vessels. Pricing on the expedition sailings includes Zodiac safaris, the use of kayaks, a keepsake Viking jacket, and essential gear for excursions and landings.

Select excursions, pre- or post-dinner cocktails, spa treatments, special bottles of wine, and other optional purchases come at an additional expense.

Azamara's four upscale boutique ships carry a maximum of 702 guests and offer immersive experiences around the world, calling on many smaller, lesser-known ports. The line also boasts more than 380 overnights and 850 late nights in port, so guests can have dinner in town and experience more of the destination's local culture and cuisine.

Azamara's cruise fares include all meals (other than the specialty dining restaurants) with water, tea and coffee. A selection of complimentary wine, sparkling wine, beer and spirits is available throughout the voyage. Cultural evenings ashore or on board the ship and gratuities are also included in the basic cruise fare.

If you'd like to enhance your onboard experience, Azamara offers inclusive "Experience More" packages that are discounted and based on the length of the voyage.

For example, on a seven-day or shorter sailing, solo travelers can add a package for $799 that's valued at $1,114 (a savings of 28%). This value-add bundle includes $350 of onboard credit to use for shore excursions; unlimited Wi-Fi for one device; a drinks package featuring premium wines, spirits and bottled water; a $150 spa credit; and a dinner at the Chef's Table or a total of three nights of specialty dining at Prime C or Aqualina. Three bags of laundry are also included.

Guests can book similar packages for double occupancy staterooms and longer voyages. You can also choose individual beverage, dining or internet packages if you don't need the extra amenities or features of the bundled options.

Virgin Voyages

Virgin Voyages' four superyacht-inspired ships are designed with adults in mind and feature 1,330 cabins (most with balconies) and 78 RockStar Quarters suites, where guests have access to Richard's Rooftop, an exclusive outdoor deck space. Pricing with the adults-only cruise line includes stateroom or suite accommodations and meals at more than 20 eateries serving up international cuisine and dishes created by Michelin-starred chefs. Guests also have access to complimentary Wi-Fi; unlimited group exercise classes; nonalcoholic drinks such as water, tea and coffee; and plenty of lively entertainment.

Virgin does not offer beverage packages, but the line at times advertises special promotions that include voyage credits to cover expenses like airfare and drinks. Shore excursions and spa treatments – including skin care offerings on board Scarlet Lady in partnership with Jennifer Lopez, Virgin's chief entertainment and lifestyle officer – are some of the additional expenses not covered in the base fare.

Find a Virgin Voyages deal on GoToSea.

Add-on Packages and All-Inclusive Fares

These five cruise lines offer basic cruise fares that cover accommodations and some amenities – and you can typically find special pricing and promotional deals throughout the year.

With the optional packages, guests can create a mostly all-inclusive voyage with bundles of add-on extras, such as shore excursions, beverage packages, specialty dining, Wi-Fi, gratuities or shipboard credit to cover miscellaneous personal expenses such as spa treatments or a bottle of wine for a special celebration.

Oceania Cruises

Oceania's eight small luxury ships carry between 648 and 1,238 guests. The line's newest ship – Vista , the first Allura Class vessel – debuted in Rome in May 2023. The beautifully appointed vessel features four new dining concepts, spacious standard staterooms at 290-plus square feet in size, new Concierge Level veranda accommodations for solo cruisers, an elevated mixology program and more.

Oceania's culinary program is touted by the line as "The Finest Cuisine at Sea" under the tutelage of Jacques Pépin, executive culinary director and master chef. Complimentary specialty dining is included in cruise fares on Oceania sailings. Pricing also covers airfare, still and sparkling water, specialty teas and coffees, soft drinks, and Wi-Fi on the ship.

Oceania's "OLife Choice" package provides additional value to your cruise with 2-for-1 cruise fares, free round-trip airfare and airport transfers – plus one free amenity you'll choose out of eight complimentary shore excursions, a beverage package or up to $800 in shipboard credit.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity offers special rates and packages throughout the year that save money over a la carte pricing – and elevate your onboard experience to be more inclusive. You'll be able to access the best deal on the added perks if you book the upgraded package before you sail, saving up to 40 to 50 percent of the actual cost.

The line's "All-Included" package bundles the most popular add-ons for cruisers: a standard beverage package for alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, unlimited basic Wi-Fi, and gratuities for the staff and crew. Pricing depends on the stateroom or suite category and sailing.

There are other options when booking a cruise with Celebrity to create a more upscale and all-inclusive experience. Guests staying in all-suite The Retreat have exclusive access to a sundeck (on select ships), a lounge and Luminae – a private restaurant that features Global Culinary Ambassador Daniel Boulud at the helm. Guests of The Retreat booking the "All-Included" package receive a premium beverage package, premium unlimited Wi-Fi, gratuities and an onboard credit.

If you book AquaClass accommodations, you'll also have access to complimentary amenities and perks, such as unlimited access to the SEA Thermal Suite, discounts on spa treatment packages and complimentary fitness classes. In addition, you'll also find a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival (by request) and two bottles of water refreshed daily in your room. AquaClass guests also have exclusive access to the restaurant Blu. You can add the "All-Included" package to your booking, which will include the Classic Drinks Package, basic Wi-Fi and gratuities.

Passengers who want to book this "All-Included" package and are sharing a stateroom or suite will need to book the same package.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian also offers promotional fares and special deals throughout the year that feature similar amenities and perks to what you'll find on an all-inclusive cruise. The "Free at Sea" deal bundles discounts on the cruise, free specialty dining, unlimited open bar privileges, shore excursion credits, savings on Wi-Fi access, discounts on the third and fourth guests in the stateroom, and a 2-for-1 deal on airfare.

"Free at Sea Plus" takes the package up a notch with a more comprehensive beverage selection, including top-shelf cocktails, Champagne by the glass, bottles of select premium wines at dinner and signature Starbucks coffee drinks. This option also includes unlimited Wi-Fi, additional nights of specialty dining and shore excursions.

Prices for both packages on Norwegian Cruise Line will depend on the dates, length and destination of the cruise.

Holland America Line

Holland America Line's "Have It All Premium Cruise Package" is available to book for cruises six days or longer, excluding the line's Grand Voyages. The benefits vary depending on the length of the trip but include credits for shore excursions; the Signature Beverage Package; specialty dining at Tamarind, Pinnacle Grill or Canaletto; and a Wi-Fi Surf Package. The cost starts at $50 a day per person.

An early booking bonus for this package includes an Elite Beverage Package upgrade, covered crew appreciation charges and a premium Wi-Fi upgrade. Holland America has other special promotions throughout the year. One of these is an early booking bonus of up to $400 in onboard credit per stateroom for Mariner Society members.

Princess Cruises

"Princess Plus" and "Princess Premier" packages offer guests two options to upgrade their onboard amenities from the standard Princess Cruises plan, which covers accommodations, dining, entertainment and the line's signature MedallionClass experience.

"Princess Plus" perks include a beverage package with drinks up to $15 each, Wi-Fi on one device per guest, gratuities for the crew, two premium desserts a day (think hazelnut gelato at the onboard gelateria), two fitness classes per cruise (such as Pure Barre or YogaSix) and unlimited trips to the juice bar. The cost is $60 per day per person for this middle-tier package.

Additional benefits of the highest-tier option, at $80 per person per day, include the Premier Beverage Package, which covers drinks up to $20 each, and Wi-Fi for up to four devices per guest. Other features of the "Princess Premier" upgrade are two specialty meals, a photo package, Princess Prizes, reserved theater seating and a Medallion accessory.

  • The onboard entertainment is incredible. The "Awaken" show combines popular music with acrobatics and lasers, while Ascent After Dark: Shine the Night invites cruisers to don metallic or sequin outfits for a deck party under the stars.
  • The Solarium adults-only pool area is a relaxing spot with comfortable lounge chairs, a pool and hot tubs; head to Eden for delightful cocktails and optimal sunset views.

You can think of Celebrity Cruises as the more adult cousin of Royal Caribbean International – which makes sense, considering both cruise lines are owned by Royal Caribbean Group. With all of the recent buzz around both brands, I was excited to sail on Celebrity Cruises' newest ship, Celebrity Ascent, in its debut month. I embarked out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in December 2023.

The 17-deck, 141,420-ton ship has 1,646 staterooms and can carry 3,260 guests at double occupancy. At 1,073 feet long and 128 feet wide, the ship has plenty of space for upscale amenities, edgy entertainment and incredible dining venues. The Edge Series ship also has more than 1,400 crew members who hail from 60 different countries around the world.

As an avid cruiser who has taken more than 50 ocean and river voyages on almost a dozen cruise lines, I found Celebrity Ascent lived up to the hype. The ship itself is stunning, and each area has a distinct vibe. I loved the ample amount of food and drink opportunities – there are 32 different venues – and the standout onboard entertainment was like nothing I had seen before on a cruise ship.

Celebrity Ascent itineraries

Thermal suite heated loungers on the Celebrity Ascent.

Celebrity Ascent sails around the Mediterranean and the Caribbean over the next few years. Summer 2024 brings Ascent to Mediterranean ports of call in Greece, Turkey, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. The Mediterranean season ends in October 2024, with a 13-night transatlantic sailing departing from Barcelona, Spain.

Late fall and winter sailings depart from Fort Lauderdale. The Caribbean season runs between November 2024 and April 2025. It includes seven- to nine-night voyages calling on ports like Aruba , Bonaire and Curacao ; Bimini, Bahamas ; Labadee, Haiti; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands ; Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic ; and St. Maarten and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In late April 2025, it's back to the Mediterranean for the 2025 season between May and October. Ascent then returns to the Caribbean for sailings in late 2025; destinations include southern Caribbean locales, plus the Panama Canal and Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay. Similar Caribbean sailings are also on sale for early 2026.

Who should sail on Celebrity Ascent?

Sunset Bar on the Celebrity Ascent.

Celebrity Ascent, like its Edge Series sister ships, caters to adults traveling together. The overall vibe of the ship is upscale and modern, with plenty of places to grab a drink, enjoy a meal and watch a show. Couples can enjoy an elevated date night in Le Grand Bistro, while the aptly named Sunset Bar – which overlooks the rear of the ship – is the spot to be with a cocktail in hand as the sun sets into the horizon. This bar was easily my favorite spot on board; I spent most afternoons here enjoying a cocktail.

The deck parties, of which Ascent After Dark: Shine the Night is the premier event, are a fun time – but they aren't so loud that guests can hear the bass thumping in the staterooms below. Shows at The Theatre are fully immersive, with incredible technology and great music that had me dancing in my seat.

If you are traveling with children, know that there aren't many places on board for kids to just hang out and be kids. The Camp at Sea kids club is crammed into a small area on Deck 3, away from the main Grand Plaza and The Martini Bar.

Cruises on Ascent can be expensive, but Celebrity often runs deals on sailings. Without any promotions, sailings around the Mediterranean in 2024 and 2025 may run between about $1,000 and $5,600 per person. In comparison, 2024 and 2025 Caribbean voyages may cost between about $2,000 and $4,400 per person before discounts. (Note: Cruise rates can change frequently, based on demand and availability.)

The stateroom

Stateroom interior on the Celebrity Ascent.

There are over two dozen different stateroom styles on Celebrity Ascent. The smallest (and usually cheapest) rooms are the Inside Staterooms, which offer between 181 and 202 square feet of space. For solo travelers, the Single Inside Staterooms offer the same amenities as a double occupancy room, but with a smaller 103-square-foot layout and no single supplement fee at booking.

Ocean View Staterooms are slightly larger, at 200 to 242 square feet. There are three different room styles; the main difference among them is the size of the window. Options range from small windows in the middle of the wall to large, floor-to-ceiling picture windows.

Ascent's balcony cabins are quite varied, but the majority are Infinite Veranda Staterooms, where the balcony is actually a uniquely designed window that can be opened to let the ocean breeze in. There is a set of glass doors that can be drawn to make this space more private, as well.

Concierge Staterooms allow guests access to a dedicated concierge staff and exclusive onboard events. AquaClass cabins all feature the infinite balcony design, plus unlimited access to the SEA Thermal Suite, complimentary dining at Blu restaurant, fitness classes and a spa concierge.

Celebrity Ascent's suites are all part of The Retreat, the line's ship-within-a-ship concept where cruisers have access to an exclusive restaurant, a sun deck with a pool, a lounge and a dedicated crew. Suites range in size and style, from smaller 319-square-foot studios to massive two-bedroom suites offering more than 2,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor space.

When I sailed on Celebrity Ascent, I stayed in an AquaClass stateroom. The main living space had a king-size bed, which was cozy after long days of exploring the ship and nights spent on the dance floor. I found the cabin's couch a bit uncomfortable, but there was plenty of storage space in the large closet and drawers. Conveniently, the bed was high enough to fit my suitcases under.

Because this was my first time in an Infinite Veranda room, I was interested to see how the balcony actually worked. After pressing a button for the window to roll down, my room instantly filled with humid air – not the sea breeze I was expecting. The air conditioner also turns off when the window is down, so it takes a long time for the room to cool off again. I only opened the window once because of this. For me, the extra veranda space served as more of a sitting area to take in the views than a spot to enjoy the ocean breeze.

My stateroom's bathroom was spacious, with a larger-than-usual standup rain shower. I also loved the eco-friendly bath amenities, which smelled divine. I used the in-room bathrobes and slippers every day of the cruise.

I loved that my AquaClass stateroom came with some amenities that are not included in other Infinite Veranda rooms. There were two yoga mats, two bottles of water that were refreshed daily, a welcome bottle of sparkling wine, an umbrella, binoculars, complimentary shoeshine service and a pillow menu. AquaClass guests also have unlimited access to the spa's thermal suite, complimentary fitness classes and a dedicated spa concierge. I went to the thermal suite daily to enjoy the heated loungers and steam rooms.

Best amenities on Celebrity Ascent

Theater show on the Celebrity Ascent.

On Celebrity Ascent, you'll never be bored. Over just a few days, I was able to participate in game shows and dance parties, sit back and enjoy live music, and spend some time by the pool. While I don't gamble, the casino always seemed to be full when I walked by, and someone was always cheering about hitting the jackpot.

For live entertainment, be sure to catch Flash Flair Fusion, the nightly bartending performance at the Martini Bar. Meanwhile, the Theatre hosted three main shows during my sailing: "Residency," "Awaken" and "Bridges." (Based on my experience, "Awaken" is the production to prioritize.)

Additionally, The Club hosts most of the ship's game shows and some smaller live music events. I loved hanging out at this venue; it was never overly packed with people, and the games were pure fun. I even got called up on stage to participate in one of the games and ended up winning a Celebrity Cruises-branded hat.

For some outdoor fun, hit the onboard pickleball court. Or, head to the Rooftop Garden, where float pools face the ocean and plenty of comfy seating awaits. I loved how lush this space felt, thanks to all of the live plants surrounding the seating areas. This is also the spot to catch movies at night.

If you're looking for an even more unique place to hang out, head to The Magic Carpet. This bright orange, glass-encased bar hangs out over the side of the ship and is the perfect spot for an after-dinner drink. The Magic Carpet can move up and down the side of the ship, docking at select decks for a set amount of time. I loved hanging here at night as the ship was pulling out of port to see the islands light up and watch other ships pass by.

When planning out your evenings, keep in mind that it can be a trek to get from one onboard activity to the next – especially when there is very little time between many of the major scheduled events. One night, I started in The Club to watch a game show, then immediately had to get to the Theatre. After the theater performance, I had to walk the entire length of the ship and take the stairs to get to the night show in Eden. Then, after Eden, it was time for the Shine the Night deck party. By the time I got back to my stateroom, I was exhausted.

Best dining venues on Celebrity Ascent

Pastries at Le Grand Bistro on the Celebrity Ascent.

There are 32 different spots for food and drinks on Celebrity Ascent, including four main dining rooms; four casual complimentary eateries; eight specialty restaurants; 14 cafes, lounges and bars; and two exclusive venues.

Included with the base fare are meals at the four main dining rooms, all of which serve the same menus every day, plus a small exclusive menu that's tailored to the theme of each restaurant. (For example, if you're dining in Cyprus, there is a small list of Cyprus-exclusive dishes that highlight Mediterranean cuisine, while the Normandie restaurant serves up French favorites.)

Other restaurants included in the cruise rate are Eden Cafe & Bar, which serves light bites and sweets; Mast Grill, offering burgers and salads; and Oceanview Cafe, a buffet open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For an additional cost, head to specialty dining venues like the stunning Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud, which is great for date night; Le Grand Bistro, a fun take on a classic French Bistro; or Eden Restaurant, which features an entirely plant-based menu.

My favorite specialty dining option – and overall favorite restaurant on the ship – was Raw on 5. It features stunning chilled seafood towers, fresh sashimi and hot dishes like fresh lobster and shrimp wontons. Each dish was prepared beautifully, the service was top-notch and our table next to the window offered great views.

However, one restaurant I would skip is Fine Cut Steakhouse. It is a pretty standard steakhouse, and nothing on the menu really stood out to me. The upscale ambiance was also diminished by music floating in from the nearby Grand Plaza and Martini Bar (think: everything from One Direction to Cher). While both artists are great to hear while sipping a martini in a public space, I don't want to hear them while dining at an expensive restaurant.

Best excursions on Celebrity Ascent

Outdoor sundeck on the Celebrity Ascent.

Travelers cruising to the Caribbean should book a beach outing. There are abundant excursion options in St. Maarten and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands . If you're into local brews, try the Small Group: Brewery & Beach Tour Philipsburg, St. Maarten .

On a past Mediterranean cruise, I explored both Florence and Pisa, Italy, while docked in the Italian city of Livorno. Celebrity offers a similar excursion aboard the Ascent. The day trip includes a scenic drive through the Tuscan countryside; exploring Florence and seeing the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo; and a trip to Pisa to see the iconic learning tower. In Rome , consider doing an all-day tour where you can see the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and St. Peter's Square.

Regardless of where your cruise is headed, you may choose to explore ports on your own instead. If that's the case, be sure to give yourself enough time to get back to the ship. I always try to return at least an hour before the scheduled sail away time.

Overall impressions of Celebrity Ascent

Rooftop Garden on the Celebrity Ascent.

When it comes to ships that cater to a mostly adult audience, Celebrity Ascent really has it all. From stunning common areas to incredible dining and entertainment, I was never bored on this ship. What I loved most was the wide range of entertainment, from pop-up music around the ship to full-blown experiences that need to be seen to be believed. The food on the ship is a step above most other major cruise lines, and the number of dining options is great, especially for longer sailings.

While I loved my room's location and amenities as a whole, I found the Infinite Veranda design to be a bit of a waste. When I did use it, my room got hot quickly and took a while to cool back down. I would consider booking a traditional veranda cabin next time, or a stateroom with a large picture window to save some money without sacrificing the ocean views.

News Release

Carnival corporation to strategically align portfolio and absorb p&o cruises australia into carnival cruise line.

Carnival Cruise Line to boost its capacity by absorbing P&O Cruises Australia in 2025, further optimizing the company's brand portfolio creating operational efficiencies

MIAMI and SYDNEY , June 3, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Carnival Corporation & plc  (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK), the world's largest cruise company, today announced that in March 2025 , the company will sunset the P&O Cruises Australia brand and fold the Australia operations into Carnival Cruise Line , the most popular cruise line in the world.

This change is the latest in a series of strategic moves designed to increase guest capacity for Carnival Cruise Line , the company's flagship brand and the highest-returning brand in Carnival Corporation's global portfolio. This will result in the addition of eight new ships to Carnival Cruise Line's fleet since 2021, including the successful shift of three vessels from sister brand Costa Cruises . In addition, the company recently placed its first new ship order in half a decade for two new Excel-class cruise ships to join Carnival Cruise Line in 2027 and 2028.

Josh Weinstein , chief executive officer of Carnival Corporation & plc. "In 2019, Carnival Cruise Line was 29% of our total capacity, and when we complete this move early next year, Carnival Cruise Line – our highest-returning brand – will make up approximately 35% of our total global capacity. While our company's overall growth between 2019 – 2028 is projected to be less than 2% (CAGR), the majority will be for Carnival Cruise Line , which will grow by approximately 50% over that time period."

In addition to further optimizing the composition of Carnival Corporation's global brand portfolio, the realignment will strengthen the company's performance in the South Pacific through numerous operational efficiencies.

"P&O Cruises Australia is a storied brand with an amazing team, and we are extremely proud of everything we have accomplished together in Australia and the broader region," said Weinstein. "However, given the strategic reality of the South Pacific 's small population and significantly higher operating and regulatory costs, we're adjusting our approach to give us the efficiencies we need to continue delivering an incredible cruise experience year-round to our guests in the region. Carnival Corporation & plc remains committed to Australia and we will continue to be the largest cruise operator in the region with 19 ships calling on 78 destinations and representing almost 60% of the market."

Building on Shared Legacy in the Region  As the P&O Cruises Australia brand retires early next year, the Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure ships will be rebranded and operated by Carnival Cruise Line brand. Pacific Explorer will exit the fleet in February of 2025. Current itineraries will operate business as usual, and guests will be notified in the coming days of any changes to future bookings as a result of this announcement.

When the transition is complete next year, Carnival Cruise Line – which has served the South Pacific since 2013 – will have four ships in the market, including Sydney -based Carnival Splendor and Carnival Luminosa sailing seasonally from Brisbane , in addition to their new sister ships Encounter and Adventure.

Christine Duffy , president of Carnival Cruise Line . "While we plan to make some technology upgrades and other small changes to the two P&O Cruises Australia ships, they will continue to be geared to the unique Australian market with a familiar feel and much of the same experiences for P&O Cruises Australia guests. The most notable change will be the availability of our popular HubApp, enabling guests to make online dining and excursion reservations, request food and beverage delivery, and chat with other guests, among other features. P&O Cruises Australia guests will also be invited to participate in Carnival's loyalty program and promotional offerings specific to Carnival ships sailing in the region."

"Over the coming months, we will find ways to celebrate and honor P&O Cruises Australia – a valued part of our legacy and an important contributor to the tourism industry in the South Pacific ," said Weinstein. "We value the connection our P&O Cruises Australia guests, employees, travel advisor partners, public officials and destinations have with our company and are committed to building on this association moving forward as Carnival."

Crown Princess Owners Suite Photos

Cool Cruiser

Finally! I spent a year trying to get a feel for this room before my AUG 10 cruise and couldn't find anything. For all interested here they are:

http://good-times.webshots.com/album/560422090yRydno

The room was amazing! Was it worth all the money? I'll say this, if you are looking for a private cruising experience and have some money to throw around- go for it! Overall, it was smaller than I thought it would be- after seeing the owners on Caribbean, Star and Grand but it was a nice space. I think next time I'll go with a mini-suite since there isn't $3000 difference between the two (my opinion). My parents stayed in the penthouse suite next door (A751) and that room was disappointingly small. There is no reason to go with the penthouse over a mini on the crown! Unless you can nab both the penthouse and owners and open the balconies- WOW! I'll have a review up in a few days, but overall I'm not happy with the direction Princess is taking with the newer ships. That is, taking public space and turning it into pay for use areas and restaurants. I felt fellow passengers much more on the Crown than i have on the Caribbean and Star and the new $$$ deckplan is to blame - my opinion. My heart is still with the Caribbean Princess. I hope the Emerald gives us some public space back......doubt it!

FYI, A751 is not a penthouse suite...it is a PS category. I know because we have A751 booked for the Oct 6 sailing. The PH category are all on Riviera deck, midship.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed in that cabin...yours is the first I've seen where A751 (or A750, its "twin") were not raved over. This will be my second cruise (hubby's first cruise), and my first in a suite (prior was a balcony cabin on Sea Princess)...so I'll have a different perspective and will probably think A751 is great. Everything is relative to one's own prior experiences.

My travel agent refered to both the PS and PH staterooms as penthouse suites. Anyway, A751 (PS or Penthouse or Grand Cayman Suite) is a lovely room, in my opinion, for the $$, when you see a mini-suite and PS suite in person the difference is hard to justify. In my previous two Princess cruises I had oceanview staterooms, so I think I have a pretty grounded view on things. You'll love the room, i had the opportunity to see and stay in both A751 and A753 on this trip and since i know how much these rooms cost, I just want to give anyone debating a full suite over a mini some information. If you're celebrating something wonderful or have family members cruising with you, the full suite does give you some gathering space away from the crowds, but if it's just you and your husband/wife, you'll get more bang for the buck out of a mini- i think this sentiment has been echoed on this and other message boards before.

discus220...Thanks for the photos, they were great.

Honestly, the suite itself didn't wow me at all.

Thanks so much for the pictures. We have that exact suite on the Crown sailing on 9/6 and have been looking for pictures. Yours are great.

One question. How many electrical outlets are there? I am debating whether we need to bring a power strip for such things as laptop, camera, cell phone power cords.

You're welcome Madeline! To be truthfull, I wasn't wowed either. Compared to the grand and owners suites on Crowns sister ships, this room is smaller and very toned down. The points that I really did love were: Dining with family almost every night, you can order dining room meals to the suite to enjoy with family and friends at your leasure! This was a huge perk! We had some big eaters stop by and you can order as many meals as you'd like straight from the dining room, not just the 24hr room service menu (I'm talking two or three orders of the lobster tail here). The bathtub and shower were amazing! Although the tub is standard sized (I was hoping for slightly larger), it was amazing just relaxing in your room, jacuzi tub, then on the the plentyful supply of Lotus Spa goodies (refilled daily! hint, hint). The in room DVD menu was nice, plenty of recent hints, it is particulary fun watching Pirates of the Caribbean while you sail the Caribbean! Complementary mini bar setup was top notch- Courvoisier, Beefeater, Canadian Club to name a few. First time is free, next setup will cost you. Oh how could I forget! As a suite passenger you get complimentary use of the Thermal Spa! WOW!! Wonderful area with wet saunas, hot tile beds, and some fun showers-tropical rain and cool mist- and almost always empty! We had the whole area to ourselves 4 or 5 times! Daily canapes were always wonderful- chocolate covered strawberries are my one true weakness! You do get priority embarkation/dismbarkation. I had a hard time finding info on this prior to my cruise as well. We arrived at 1:00pm, with about a 1000 other people, and with priority embarkation we were in our stateroom in 10 minutes! I did hear that NYC does a great job with general embarkation as well. Priority disembarkation was smooth as well, tea, coffee and pasteries in club fusion until your color is called- we had express walk off so we only waited 15 minutes......more later!

Thanks so much for the pictures. We have that exact suite on the Crown sailing on 9/6 and have been looking for pictures. Yours are great.   One question. How many electrical outlets are there? I am debating whether we need to bring a power strip for such things as laptop, camera, cell phone power cords.   Abby

Abby, there are plenty of outlets. No need for the power strip. Plenty of plugs by the dining table (4 outlets total i think there), then there were some mid room, one in the bathroom, and 2 or 4 outlets in the bedroom area. Have a great time and do take advantage of the in room dining- just be patient when getting through to room service- we had up to 15minute wait to get through! Trick is to order early in the day and schedule delivery for later- keep the menu handy becuase they sometimes don't have the dining room menu available when you call- just tell them what's on it and you'll get it. Tell Apolonio (room steward) hello from the Rodens! He was a great help early on as we were in the dark with all the suite perks. Do make the most of the comp. Lotus Spa goodies in the bathroom! ENJOY!

Picture's are great!!! I believe that if we had that cabin, we would think we died and went to heaven!!! To each his own, I guess. I'm wondering how much more you could want, to be "wowed"?? I was "wowed" just by the pictures!! I hope that we might be able to see the difference in "good and bad" suites someday!!!

Enjoying your review! I have the Owner's Suite for my upcoming CB Cruise on 9-9-07. Did your room steward bring you a copy of the menu everyday? We had a PH Suite last yr and didn't get menus. THanks!

The dinning room breakfast, lunch and dinner menus for the next day are delivered each night at turndown. It ending up being a little event each night, the next days menu and canapes.

Believe me, this room was a once in a lifetime experience for me (and my new wife, this was our honeymoon). We are very much the the find a quiet place and unwind cruisers, so having a room of this size was amazing. There was a day or two that we hardly left the room! (Not just because it was our honeymoon). Your really can spend all day in the suite, ordering in, entertaining friends, enjoying the tub, sunbathing or relaxing in the privacy of the huge balcony. I guess the "wow" factor i was talking about in the previous post is in regards to this suite compared to sister ship OS's and the bang for the buck factor. THis was our honeymoon and my family gave us this room as a gift, but I know how much it cost and i found myself having a hard time justifying the HUGE difference in this suite compared to a mini. I think i said earlier, if you have $$$$$$$ to spend on a cruise, go for it- you may be better served on a higher end cruiseline, but the space, the privacy, the experience was amazing.

Yes, that is true that all the category PH are on Riviera deck, but the only difference between the 2 categories is location. No size difference to speak of.

Maybe I should have been more clear (as info for others, as you pointed ouy). PS is Premium Suite. PH is Penthouse Suite. I know it may seem trivial, but they are different categories/prices/locations. I didn't want others to confuse A751 as a PH, when it is a PS. Was not intended sarcastically, was just trying to clarify. :)

After reading your other posts on this thread, it is clear that you really enjoyed the suite experience, and I know you will agree that, although it is not the bang for the buck of a mini-suite, there are a number of perks only available to suite passengers (some great, some not a big deal). I never disagreed that other categories are indeed a better value. All I was pointing out was that for me personally (vs. you having been in other suites & having those as points of reference), A751 will be leaps and bounds over the balcony room I had previously. Similarly, someone who has only sailed in an inside cabin would likely think a balcony room was fabulous.

Because you mentioned "celebrating something wonderful"...as a matter of fact, that is exactly the reason for our trip. As for the $$$ aspect, yes, other lines may be better suited...but itinerary (dates, length, departure/arrival ports, etc.) made this particular sailing the best choice for us at this time...and we are the type to only vacation now and then, and really go all-out, so the $$$ was not a big deal. I am sure that is not the case for most people, and that a mini would suit them wonderfully. We also wanted the aft area for more privacy & large balcony, which I know you can relate to. :D

Believe me, this room was a once in a lifetime experience for me (and my new wife, this was our honeymoon). We are very much the the find a quiet place and unwind cruisers, so having a room of this size was amazing.

Hey! Sorry to hear you didn't get "wowed" on your honeymoon.

But hey, thank God for the baked Alaska, right?

Great pictures.

We will be on Saphire for our 35Th. We thought we would try a Visa Suite on the Aft of ship. The rooms seem alike accept the Visa suite has no Table and Chairs inside. Not sure how this work's for 30 days.

Did your room have a curtain to devide?

Any comments in comparing would be helpful.

Still free internet and laundry?

Yes, the room did have a curtain to divide the bedroom and sitting area, and all suite passengers get the free internet (does not include wireless) and laundry. I forgot about the laundry thing, they do a great job, if you get your room steward the laundry before 9:00am they have it back to you by 5:00pm. Think about that when packing- you don't have to bring nearly as much as you think you do!

Yeah, the perks are wonderful! Your balcony is actually nicer that the OS! THe owners balcony tapers in at the edge of the ship and has a few pillars and supports that jut down into it, also people at the Terrace pool can look down into the OS balcony. Your balcony is full and unobstructed and riviera deck actually covers your balcony giving you all the privacy in the world! THe perks are wonderful, the spa products and in room DVD service are great. DO take advantage of the Thermal Spa privileges- great area!

discus. thanks for the pics and the lowdown on the suite perks. differant ship for me but jease i'm looking forward to it

    Princess Cruises.
