I had a fabulous trip to Israel going on the Roots of Your Faith tour. Life changing and so amazing. Yeshay, also known as Jessie, my tour guide, was so knowledgeable, organized, funny, and kind. He was very attentive to everyone on the tour. I learned so much from him about life in Israel, its people, culture, and most importantly all of the significant biblical history at each holy site we visited. Aaron, our driver, was charming, jovial, and professional to make sure he got everyone to each destination with ease. The hotel accommodations were lovely with wonderful food, shout out to all the great chefs, and pleasant hotel staff. Thank you AIT!

Roots of Your Faith Oct 2022

An AMAZING experience from start to finish with AIT! I booked the Roots of our Faith tour to travel with my Father since Israel was on the top of his list to see in life. It turned out to be the most memorable trip of our lives for both of us!! Our tour guide Barak Berkovich was beyond phenomenal!! We are so incredibly fortunate to have had a guide so unbelievably knowledgeable, with a great sense of humor, along with possessing the rare ability to make us feel safe and secure the entire time! I have traveled extensively around the world, taking many tours, and I have never had a better guide than Barak! He was absolutely captivating (even after our 8-10 hour days of sightseeing) he kept us wanting to see and hear more!! If you are considering traveling to Israel, dont wait! Call them to book today! The process was flawless. Skyler in booking took care of every detail for us, including flight suggestions that worked out perfectly. We were picked up as soon as we landed at the airport and received the red carpet treatment the remainder of the trip. The food and hotels provided were wonderful. Our fellow group travelers were some of the most loving and faithful people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting! The itinerary was everything we could have ever hoped to see and more!!! Thank you AIT for the most extraordinary pilgrimage of a lifetime!! The memories will live on for the rest of our lives!

Roots of Your Faith Nov 2022

Our tour guide, Bruce, was wonderful, very knowledgeable and helpful. Hearing about the Biblical events from a Jewish perspective was enlightening for me. This tour was a whirlwind of sights and history for a solid week, but I highly recommend it.

The trip was worth the wait after Covid. Skylar & Regan from AIT answered all questions & sent pertinent paperwork as needed to get us started on a memorable journey. The first week is the Roots tour with Jordan as an extension. Forty-one started with 18 going on to Jordan. If you get Yair as a tour guide in Israel, you are getting the best guide. Not only is he knowledgeable & very personable, but also funny making each stop memorable. Menahem, the bus driver, uses his driving skills in difficult situations. If women had short sleeve tops, a shawl was not necessary, but definitely needed for sleeveless tops. No need to change dollars which were accepted when credit cards couldn't be used. Have plenty of $1 bills especially for water which was sold everywhere. Crossing the border to Jordan for 2 extra nights was definitely worthwhile. Jerash ruins show a huge ancient city, but Petra is a true wonder of the world. There is a lot of walking, sometimes on uneven surfaces & uphill. An electric cart (for a fee) can be taken between the Visitors Center & the Treasury if you are unable to walk long distances. You can ride a horse part way which is included in the ticket price, but the handler will expect a tip. Once reaching the Treasury, a very short camel ride can be taken (about $5). Our guide Saleh was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. This trip not only enriched my faith as so many others have said, but I got to see different cultures and met a lot of great people.

Roots of Your Faith Sep 2022

Only day three of our Roots of Your Faith tour with Jordon and Egypt extension and AIT has provided service beyond expectations. As we travel the remainder of our nearly three week trip I am confident the experience will continue to be exceptional. Yair, our tour guide, is knowledgeable not only of the historic perspective but also biblically and delivers the information with clarity.

We booked our 10 Day "Roots of Your Faith " with AIT Since 2020. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we could not travel. We finally got cleared and traveled at end of August! AIT staff especially Skyler and Raegan always communicated with us and kept us informed about everything that was happening! Words cannot express our experience because it was that amazing. Well planned and executed in all apsects. Great hotels, sightseeing opportunities and great local spots to visit. Our tour guide Yoram was very knowledgable, passionate and lead us on our journey from day 1. We got to see so many of the Holy Sights and learned so much during our trip. I would definitely recommend this company and travel with them again!

Roots of Your Faith Aug 2022

Recently returned from an AIT “Roots of Your Faith” tour with visits to both sides of the Jordan. WOW! It was amazing! Both the California and Israeli based administrative teams who planned and organized the trip did so with precision and made our way comfortable and easy. We wanted to see “everything” and we did. Yair, our tour guide in Israel, made historical sites and Biblical events come alive with his knowledge, insight and presentation; and he did so in a way that faded the hectic atmosphere of some crowded sites. Our guide in Bethlehem and Emdad in Jordan enhanced our visits as well. The accommodations and hospitality at our hotels and dining rooms was excellent, particularly in Jerusalem and in Aman. Would I go with AIT again? Absolutely, in a heartbeat!

Roots of Your Faith Oct 2019

Early November is a fabulous time to visit Israel with the wonderful AIT crew. They looked after us the whole way through. They don’t talk up the Isrotel Hotel at the Dead Sea enough. That has to be the finest hotel on the water. It’s 5 stars by any standard! The peace and the beauty of the land is surprising... from the news you’d think this place is going to kick off at any moment. Our experience has been fantastic so far. If you’ve not been to Israel... you are missing a unique corner of the world... Come to Israel!!!

Roots of Your Faith Nov 2019

We had a really amazing tour From Old Jaffa to the Old city of Jerusalem Hotel and food accommodations were great , Our tour guide Yoram was really Informative and always willing to answer questions , Our experienced Driver Moshe always made us feel safe on the road . This tour will always be memorable to my heart and I totally recommend it . Zaida Humphrey

My husband & I have been enjoying our first visit to Israel on the America Israel Tour (AIT) company's "Roots of your Faith” tour. It has been a surprise to see so many other tours operating at the same time, and of course, all wanting to visit the same sites. We believe what make our tour special is our guide: Yoram Black. He has been professional, knowledgeable, accommodating, efficient, analytical, thoughtful and courteous. We have been on other tours in other countries and Yoram seems to be the hardest working and most prepared guide we have had the pleasure of touring with. I don’t know if it is Yoram or AIT that coordinates the timing of each day, but our itinerary seems to help us avoid the worst of the crowds. The company’s “Whisper” system of communication helps us all hear every word and feel like we are next to the guide, even if we are wandering the site, and regardless of the other tours. The tour is highly recommended. Karen and Indy from Sanibel Island, FL

Pilgriamge Information

Know Before You Go

Day 1: Depart for the Holy Land

Make your way to your local airport, where you will board your overnight flight. Your meals will be served on board.

Day 2: Arrive in Tel Aviv - Tiberias

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, make your way to the baggage claim area and collect your luggage. Proceed to the Arrival’s Hall, where you will be greeted by your tour guide and/or driver and transfer to Tiberias. You may have some free time to spend at your own leisure. In the evening, you will attend Mass, followed by dinner at the hotel. Return to your room for a restful night’s sleep.

Day 3: Sea of Galilee Theme: The Ministry of Christ in the Galilee

This morning we are on a boat on the beautiful Sea of Galilee, where Jesus spent much of His Ministry (Luke 5:1). At the Mount of Beatitudes we remember the Sermon on the Mount (Luke 6:20-49). At Tabgha is the Church of Multiplication where, with just five loaves of bread and two fish (Luke 9:10-17), He fed the crowd of 5,000. Nearby is St. Peter’s Primacy, where Peter confirmed his Love of Jesus (John 21). In this very place, Jesus anointed Peter to lead the Church and was to become the first Pope. Then to Capernaum, the town of Jesus. Here Jesus lived, in Peter’s House, and launched the ministry that was to change our lives and the world. We celebrate Mass at this holy church. End the day with a stop at the Valley of the Doves. This is located at the foot of the steep cliffs of Mt Arbel and was part of the ancient Via Maris trade route linking Mesopotamia and Egypt. This route also linked Nazareth to the Sea of Galilee and would have been the path that Jesus walked when travelling between the two places. Today the valley is still undeveloped and we can imagine Jesus walking along this ancient way and resting by the stream. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Nazareth & Cana Theme: The Annunciation

This morning we drive to Nazareth to visit the Church of the Annunciation and St. Joseph’s workshop, now a church. Within the Church of the Annunciation, we will make our way down to the Grotto to see the remains of the house of the Blessed Mother, and where the Angel of the Lord announced the good news to Mary. Celebrate Mass in this church then continue to Cana. It was here that Jesus performed His first miracle, changing water into wine (John 2.). During your time at the Wedding Church, married couples will have the chance to take part in a ceremony to renew their wedding vows to each other. At the end of the day we return to the Sea of Galilee region for a wonderful dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 5: Mt. Tabor – Caesarea - Jerusalem Theme: The Transfiguration

This morning we ascend Mt Tabor (Matthew 17:1-50). At this site, Christ’s Divinity was revealed. We celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the Transfiguration. From the top of Mt Tabor, enjoy a dramatic view the Valley of Armageddon, before driving to Caesarea Maritima located on the shores of the Mediterranean. Built by Herod the Great, Caesarea was where St. Peter baptized the first gentile convert, Cornelius (Acts 10). We will see the Roman theatre Herod’s Palace, view the Hippodrome, and the harbor from which St. Paul sailed on his journeys to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the ancient world. Continue the drive up to the Judean Hills where you enjoy your first view of holy, complicated, Jerusalem from Mt Scopus. At the end of day, dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 6: Jerusalem: Ein Karem & Bethlehem Theme: The Visitation and Nativity

This morning we go the village of Ein Karem to visit the Church of St John the Baptist, which marks his birthplace (Luke 1.5). Nearby is Church of Visitation that commemorates the visit of our Blessed Mother to her cousin, Elizabeth, staying with her for 3 months (Luke 1.39). Many people pray the Mystery of the Rosary as they walk up the hill to the Church. Later drive to Bethlehem to visit the fields where the Angel appeared to the shepherds to proclaim the birth of Jesus Christ, (Luke 2:8). We enter the caves where shepherds took shelter in ancient times and see the soot marks of the fires they lit to keep warm. Continue to Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity. We enter the church through the door of humility and proceed down to the Grotto of the Nativity, which marks the place of Our Savior’s birth (Matthew 2:1-18). Beneath the altar, there is a silver star and a Latin inscription that states: HIC DE VIRGINE MARIA JESUS CHRISTUS NATUS (Here Jesus Christ was born to the Virgin Mary). Following Mass in Bethlehem, return to the hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and an overnight.

Day 7: Jordan River, Jericho & the Dead Sea Theme: The Judean Wilderness & The Baptism of Jesus.

Following breakfast, we will travel down the Jordan Valley through the Judean wilderness, where Jesus spent 40 days of fasting. We arrive at the Jordan River where He was baptized (Matthew 3:13-17). After renewing our Baptismal Promises, we continue to the oldest inhabited city in the world, Jericho (Joshua 6:12-25). Here, we will celebrate Mass and view the Mount of Temptation, where the Devil tempted Jesus during his forty-day fast (Luke 4:1). South of Jericho is the ancient site of Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were written and discovered (Ezekiel 47:8-10). These writings have helped further the understanding of the Jewish background to Christianity. Time and weather permitting, you will have the opportunity to take a float in the Dead Sea, the lowest and saltiest place on Earth. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Jerusalem: Mt. Of Olives - Gethsemane - Mt. Zion - Upper Room Theme: Palm Sunday and the Agony in the Garden

We start the day on the Mount of Olives with a breathtaking panoramic view of Jerusalem. Visit the Pater Noster Shrine where Jesus taught His disciples the Lord’s Prayer (Pater Noster) (Luke 11:1-4). Then we walk down the Palm Sunday Road, which reminds us of Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Along this route there stands Dominus Flevit which marks the place where Jesus wept over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41). Continue down to Gethsemane; it was here that Jesus brought His disciples to pray the night before He was crucified (Luke 22:29-53). The Garden still contains trees with roots that date back to the time of Jesus. Next to the garden is the Church of All Nations, built over the “Rock of Agony”, where Jesus prayed alone before His arrest. From Gethsemane Jesus was taken to the house of the High Priest Caiaphas on Mt Zion, where we see the dungeons in which He was imprisoned. Also at this place, marked by the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, is where Peter denied Christ three times and wept bitterly (John 18:15-18), repented and was forgiven. On the upper part of Mt Zion, we visit the Upper Room, where Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with His disciples, (Matthew 26:17-30). Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Jerusalem: Via Dolorosa - Holy Sepulcher – The empty Tomb of Christ Theme: The Way of the Cross, The Crucifixion, The Resurrection

Very early this morning we walk together in prayerful procession along the Via Dolorosa (The Way of the Cross). We start at the Antonia Fortress, where Jesus was condemned to death by Pontius Pilate (John 18:28-19:16) and receives His cross. We end at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, which marks the place of the Crucifixion & the Resurrection, (Luke 23:26-33). After Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher we return to the hotel for breakfast. Later we return to the Old City to visit to the Church of St. Anne’s, the traditional birthplace of the Virgin Mary. Nearby is the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the crippled man (John 5:1-9). End the day with a visit the Western Wall, which is the last remnant of the Jewish Temple destroyed in 70 A.D. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Jerusalem - Return Home

This morning you will pack your bags and leave them outside your room for the Porters to collect and place on your Bus. Following breakfast, you will meet in the lobby and then board your transfer that will bring you from your hotel to Tel Aviv Airport for your return flights home.

THE UNIVERSITY Of THE HOLY LAND

...where the bible comes alive.

The University of the Holy Land  is an internationally accredited, Christian-run, Bible-based, Graduate University that provides students of the Bible,  like you , the opportunity to earn their Master’s or Doctoral Degree  in  the Land of the Bible.

We do this so  students and researchers can see the lessons and history of the Bible come to life as they study among the physical, social, and cultural milieu the Bible was written in. We also do it so the students’ own faith will come to life in ways they never experienced before and equip them to share this knowledge and experience with others.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY

I spent 5 semesters studying at UHL between 2012 and 2014, and the class subjects, the depth of coverage of each subject, the quality of the teaching, and the classroom interaction was outstanding. I anticipated receiving a greater understanding of the Bible from the Jewish perspective, a broad understanding of Judaism itself, the cultural issues facing the emerging New Testament church, a deeper understanding of the Middle East conflict now and in the past, and the historical and archaeological background for many of the events of the Bible and the sites that are still visible in Israel itself. I was definitely not disappointed. Much of what I learned has been useful in providing context and perspective to believers I encounter, and in sermons and Bible studies I teach. My time at UHL was certainly a blessing to me, and I encourage anyone and everyone who can, to undertake study in Jerusalem with UHL.

Dorie Demicell

Studying at the University of Holy Land was a great privilege and is one of the major highlights of my life up to this point. The caliber of professors and classes offered at UHL are rich and superior to other experiences in my academic career. I am now better equipped to teach the Word of God and able to bring the stories and lessons of the Bible to life for others by incorporating the Jewish and general backgrounds contexts the Bible was originally written within.

The University of the Holy Land is the best school to study the Bible in Israel. Israel is also the best place to dive into God’s word. No other place on earth gives you the richness and depth of experience that Israel does. The land breathes God’s story, and UHL professors offer insight into every piece of the drama. I would recommend studying with UHL in Israel to anyone. It greatly enriched my life and the life of my family.

I graduated from UHL in 2011 with an MA in Intercultural Studies. During my time as a student, I was able to study the languages and cultures of the Bible in the land of the Bible. What a privilege to sit under Bible scholars and professors who make the Bible come alive and where our classroom was more than just the four walls in a university building, but often the rocks and hills where the Biblical events took place. The tools and skills that I received from UHL have served me well in ministry since my graduation.

QUICK FACTS

35+ years experience.

We have lived and worked with students in Israel for 30 years, and so we know what YOU want and need as an international student studying here for the first time! Let us use our experience to give you the best educational, spiritual, and personal experience you can get while in Israel.

40 Biblical Sites Visited

Love Abraham? Visit the well he dug in Beersheba. Mesmerized by God’s glory filling the Temple? Walk on the Temple Mount where the Temple stood. Wish you could have heard Jesus preach? Pray and meditate in the spots he preached with His disciples. Whatever your favorite story in the Bible, see it come to life at University of the Holy Land because the Land of the Bible is our classroom.

Variety of Degree Options

Every degree and program at UHL is designed to make students an expert in their chosen field! Study at UHL and gain the tools, real world experience, and knowledge needed to help you succeed in your chosen careers be it teaching, full-time ministry, writing, or research. Plus, add context to your knowledge of the Bible and be prepared to share these experiences with others and cherish them for all time.

A Truly International Student Body

UHL’s specialty is giving international students the ability to study the Bible in the Land of the Bible, where the events themselves took place. As such, we have students from around the world come to study with us. U.S.A., South Korea, Germany, Hungary, Argentina, and many more!

Christian AND Jewish Bible Professors

The next best thing to studying in the locations the Biblical events took place, is studying with Christian AND Jewish Professors. Study solidly Christian theology, beliefs, and history, yet gain the extremely valuable, unique, and often neglected perspective of our Jewish brothers and sisters.

Hometown of Biblical Greats!

Study at UHL and do more than just read about the Bible; LIVE in the very city heroes of the Bible such as David, Solomon, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and more called home.
