Hugh visited Nantucket in 1986 while on vacation from Australia, to meet for just the second time his soon to be parents-in -law, and immediately fell in love with the island.

When Hugh and Beth moved to the US in 1991, the tradition of regular visits to the Nantucket began. If you ask Hugh’s children where they grew up, they will say Nantucket from all the summers they spent on the island.

After living in Connecticut and Virginia and travelling to Nantucket every summer, and at other times during the year, Hugh and Beth moved to Nantucket in 2018. Hugh started Discover Nantucket Tours in 2020 and purchased Nantucket Bike Tours in 2022.

Hugh has been referred to as “Mr. Nantucket.” “He knows EVERYTHING about Nantucket – quite incredible!!! ”  A “walking encyclopedia”. “Very professional, knowledgeable and fun”. “…(and the) best vacation tour we’ve ever experienced” by tour guests.

When Hugh is not taking guests on tours he can be found walking his dog Bogart on the beaches and the moors of the island, volunteering for the Marine Mammal Alliance Nantucket, and riding his bike around the beautiful island of Nantucket.

The beginning of the walking, biking and scenic driving tours includes a brief introduction to how the island was first formed, the history of the Wampanoag Native Americans, early European settlement, the development and decline of the whaling industry, island culture and heritage and the decline and rebirth of the island.

We did a chartered sunset cruise with our family. It was great! Captain, crew, and bartender were perfect for us. We had the whole Shearwater boat. We played music via Bluetooth. Had food from Bartlett’s Farm brought in. And we danced on the bow for almost the whole cruise.

We did this on the first night of our trip and it was the best way to kick off a great weekend. Justin Timberlake is “pressing forward” with his Forget Tomorrow World Tour after being arrested for drunk driving in Sag Harbor, NY, Page Six can confirm.

A music insider tells us that the pop star will “continue promotion for his album [ ‘Everything I Thought It Was’ ] as planned, which, of course, includes his tour dates.”

Timberlake, 43, is scheduled to resume the global trek Friday at the United Center in Chicago, where he will also perform Saturday.

The “Cry Me a River” singer will then return to New York for back-to-back shows at Madison Square Garden next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The tour, which began on April 29, is currently set to run through Dec. 20, including a European leg later this summer.

Timberlake’s rep did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

The Grammy winner was arrested early Tuesday and charged with one count of driving while intoxicated. He was also cited for two traffic violations: failure to stop a stop sign and failure to keep right.

Timberlake  posed for a mugshot  with visibly bloodshot eyes before being released without bail later that morning.

While the former *NSYNC member has yet to publicly address the bust, his lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., told Page Six exclusively Wednesday that he “looks forward to vigorously defending” his celebrity client in court.

The arrest came shortly after Timberlake left dinner with friends at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, where an eyewitness saw him looking “wasted” and drinking other people’s cocktails Monday night.

After being pulled over, the “Mirrors” crooner failed a field sobriety test and repeatedly refused to take a breathalyzer test .

A criminal complaint obtained by Page Six stated that Timberlake  claimed to have consumed only one martini  at the posh Hamptons hotel, but the arresting officer noticed he had “bloodshot and glassy eyes” in addition to “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath.

We also exclusively reported that the “Trolls” voice actor seemed concerned about the fate of his tour during the investigation.

“The cop didn’t know who he was at first,” a source told us. “Justin said under his breath, ‘This is going to ruin the tour.’ The cop replied, ‘What tour?’ Justin said, ‘The world tour.'”

After being released from custody, Timberlake had a driver take him from Long Island to New York City , where his wife, Jessica Biel, has been filming the Amazon Prime Video series “The Better Sister.”

A source told People Wednesday that the actress, 42, was “not happy” about her husband’s arrest but “loves” him and “will always be by his side.”

The couple, who married in 2012 , share two sons : Silas, 9, and Phineas, 3.

Boston-bred Lake Street Dive returns to its old territory

The band has upcoming dates on nantucket and at the levitate music festival.

There’s been a lot of marriage talk around the Boston-bred band Lake Street Dive in recent years. Singer Rachael Price wedded songwriter Taylor Ashton in 2019 and gave birth to the couple’s first child last year. Drummer Mike Calabrese is also married, with two children of his own.

And when the band invited keyboardist Akie Bermiss to join full-time a few years ago, they “proposed” to him in a Chicago restaurant by sprinkling his salad plate with plastic engagement rings.

“He was utterly humiliated,” recalls Calabrese with a laugh. But Bermiss said yes.

Most recently, the good-time band – known for its bright original songs and exuberant pop and Motown covers – has collectively agreed to “a recommitment of vows,” Calabrese says. Their eighth studio album, “Good Together,” released June 21, “doubles down,” he says, on Lake Street Dive’s determination to put some joy into the world with their music.

From the beginning, when they were four music students at New England Conservatory — Price, Calabrese, bassist Bridget Kearney, and multi-instrumentalist Mike “McDuck” Olson — the band had a few rules. Rule number one: no dating within the band.

“I forget the others,” Calabrese says.

They were well aware of the pitfalls of mixing intimacy with the business of making music. Two decades after meeting in school, 17 years after self-releasing their first album, the members of Lake Street Dive still really like and care for each other as people, Calabrese says, and they have grown together. When Olson, the one who assembled the band, announced in 2021 that he wanted to quit touring and leave the group, his colleagues were supportive.

“The reason the band has been together so long isn’t because of music,” Calabrese says. “It’s community more than anything. Music is just the lubricant.”

On “Good Together,” Lake Street Dive continue to polish the formula that has lifted them to headlining status. Following a couple of sold-out shows over the July 4 weekend at the Chicken Box on Nantucket, they’ll play the Levitate Music and Arts Festival in Marshfield on July 6. In mid-August, the band’s summer tour routes them back to New England, where they’ll play two nights on the waterfront at Thompson’s Point in Portland.

“Polish” is Calabrese’s word, and it fits. From the ‘80s neon of the new album’s bubbly title track to the heavy-duty, Rufus and Chaka Khan-style funk of “Get Around,” the band’s full range is on display.

The wistful ballad “Twenty-Five,” borne on Bermiss’s elegiac piano (“he plays like a composer,” gushes Calabrese), recalls a brief, unforgettable youthful romance. And the band members’ mutual love of the Beatles rings loud and clear on the album closer, “Set Sail (Prometheus & Eros),” a big, open-hearted ode to trusting in partnership, embellished with some very George-y slide guitar.

For the second consecutive album (beginning with 2021′s “Obviously” ), the band worked with veteran producer Mike Elizondo, who has applied his early apprenticeship with Dr. Dre to a diverse catalog, including music by Eminem, Maroon 5, and Gary Clark Jr.

“Another nerd,” Calabrese says affectionately of Elizondo, a few minutes after calling Bermiss the same thing. “He’s so knowledgeable. He has a room in his studio that’s literally wall-to-wall synthesizers.”

Unlike some big-name producers who bring a signature sound to every project — the ones that “make the same sandwich over and over,” Calabrese says — Elizondo willingly adapts his technique to suit the musicians in front of him.

“He has big ears,” Calabrese says. “We know it’s not going to sound the same as the last record, but it will sound as good in general, and maybe even better.”

Calabrese lives with his family near his wife’s parents in central Vermont, where he has built a home studio in the basement. Price, Kearney, and Bermiss all live in Brooklyn; fifth member James Cornelison, who joined on guitar after Olson’s departure, lives in Los Angeles.

The band is known for its pop precision and Price’s rich, supple vocal capacity. Raised in Tennessee, she trained as a jazz singer. Kearney, meanwhile, has written and/or performed with Ed Sheeran, Aiofe O’Donovan, Margaret Glaspy, and others, and she recently released her third solo album (“Comeback Kid”).

Surrounded by such talent, Calabrese says it took him some time to realize that he’d rather devote his energy to the band’s collaborative songwriting and his background singing, letting his drumming serve the needs of each song, than strive to be “the next Buddy Rich.” His role models, he says, have always been drummers who also sing and write songs — the late Levon Helm, Don Henley, longtime Elton John bandmate Nigel Olsson.

“What I’m practicing for now is non-injury,” he says with a laugh.

With the band’s core members approaching 40, Calabrese says they’re doing their best to stay in the moment.

“Most of the time things are going OK, things are continuing to work for us,” he says. “Why would we change? One of the things we’ve never done is asked what we should be doing five to 10 years from now.

“Sometimes I think, maybe we should,” he admits. “Things are getting a little more squirrely. I have a family now. Rachael has a kid.”

Though the band has surrounded itself with people of integrity — “our crew, our management, our booking agent, our lawyer, even” — investing your life in the music business can certainly have its drawbacks: “Yeah, AI scares us. The Spotify CEO is a putz.”

Instead of speaking out about such things, Calabrese says, the band chooses to amplify the exhilaration they share in making music together.

“ Joseph Campbell always said ‘follow your bliss.’” It is, the drummer believes, “the natural human condition. Every newborn baby at some point just wants to look at you and smile. And there’s a certain part of us that I don’t think should ever grow out of that.”
