Let Laos' gentle culture and stunning countryside captivate you
Landlocked Laos is the least visited out of its Southeast Asian neighbours, but its small, enchanting cities, gentle culture, and lush, unspoiled scenery should definitely not be overlooked. Let us take you there with all the style, luxury and local expertise that Jacada can bring; your bespoke itinerary can feature as much or as little as you like, and you can easily combine Laos with Cambodia , Vietnam , Thailand , and beyond for a well-rounded trip.
Tranquil Luang Prabang is set on the banks of the Mekong River and captures the heart of every traveller that visits the old French-influenced city; visit its gilded, picturesque Buddhist temples and rise early to witness the daily procession of saffron-clad monks collecting alms from the local residents. Venture out into the jungle on an elephant trek, and head off the beaten track into the north to stay in one of our favourite rainforest lodges, set in a village by some hot springs. In the sleepy capital Vientiane , spend time wandering past French colonial mansions and watch a fiery sunset over the Mekong. Pre-Angkor ruins draw travellers to Don Daeng and Champasak in southern Laos, while the Four Thousand Islands of the Mekong offer the ideal setting in which to truly unwind and maybe spot the rare pink dolphin.
Witness the daily procession of saffron-clad monks collecting alms from the local residents at Luang Prabang.
Head to Oudomxay to discover lush rain-forests and unearth the traditional Lao lifestyle in friendly tribal villages.
Steal views of water buffalo’s bathing and fishermen flinging nets in Don Daeng.
Soothe your muscles at Baw Nam Hawn hot springs in Muang La.
Attempt to catch a glimpse of the rare Irrawaddy river dolphin on the Mekong river.

Laos is a real hidden gem where ancient Buddhist temples sit alongside elegant colonial buildings, all set against a backdrop of breathtaking natural beauty. Kayak up the Mekong River and trek to spectacular waterfalls one day, then while away the hours sipping the superb local coffee and watching the world go by the next. I truly recommend Laos for a laidback, rural adventure.

Explore Laos
The former capital city of Luang Prabang boasts a multitude of attractions, including vividly-coloured temples, cascading waterfalls, and French-colonial architecture. Wander down the busy streets and discover the ancient monasteries, hunt for bargains in the night markets, and cycle anywhere between the old quarter to the rugged mountains beyond the city limits.
This island is part of the 4,000 islands that make up the picturesque riverine archipelago. Here you can venture out on foot or bicycle and take the time to witness the natural beauty and unspoilt charm of the island, or travel to the nearby town of Champasak to traipse around the pretty wooden houses and small restaurants along the waterfront.
Vientiane retains a laid-back charm bereft of most capital cities, and its compact size makes it easy to explore on foot. There’s a pleasing lack of traffic as a result. Climb atop a replica of Paris’s Arc de Triomphe and enjoy the views from the deck or visit Ho Phra Keo, a scenic temple complex set in immaculate gardens.
Nestled within the fertile rainforest, this region is home to over 500 villages where traditional life still prevails, all waiting to educate you on their languages and customs. Some of our favourite sights around the region include the tranquil Huay Nam Kat Waterfall and the expansive, cathedral-like Chom Ong Cave, from which the Nam Kaeng River flows.
