Pre-tour activity [ ]

Prior to the launch of the tour, Swift played three shows in the US, including a sold-out performance in front of nearly 71,000 fans at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in March 2009. Swift also played several dates in the UK and Australia, including two shows at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London. [1]

Also, in the midst of her own tour, Swift began opening shows in select cities for Keith Urban on his Escape Together World Tour 2009.

About the tour [ ]

The tour was announced on January 29, 2009, via her official website. [2] The initial press release announced that Swift would visit 54 cities in 39 states and provinces in the United States and Canada. Joining her on the tour would be a new country music group, Gloriana, as well as former American Idol contestant, Kellie Pickler .

The tour kicked off in Evansville, Indiana, on April 23, 2009, at Roberts Stadium. In honor of the kickoff of the sold-out tour, Swift was presented the key to the city of Evansville and the City Council President declared Wednesday, April 23, 2009, Taylor Swift Day. [3]

The tour features a theatrical presentation of graphics, sets and visual elements all designed by Swift herself. The show runs more than 90 minutes and showcases Swift playing five different guitars as well as the piano. The show features multiple costume changes and a fairy-tale castle illuminated by more than a million lumens of light.

In late June, a new tour date was announced for November 23 at the Wembley Arena in London. However it has become apparent that neither Kellie Pickler nor Gloriana will be joining her on the UK part of the tour. Taylor Swift announced another date in the UK at the Manchester Evening News Arena on November 24. [4] This was the final and second tour date in the UK. The shows at Wembley and Manchester will be the only two concerts for the Fearless Tour in Europe. It was announced later that singer Justin Bieber would join Swift on the two UK dates [5] While performing at Wembley Arena, Bieber broke his foot while he performed the opening lines of "One Time", but still finished the song. Despite his injury, Bieber confirmed that he would still perform in Manchester with Swift the following day, although the Wembley concert was cut short as he could not perform the encore. Bieber then went on to perform at the Manchester performance with an encore, he sang 'With You' a cover of the original version from Chris Brown. Following a 10 minute applause after she had sung Tim McGraw, Swift told the Manchester audience 'Everytime I hear the word Manchester, I won't be able to stop smiling... I love you!'. [6] According to a German magazine, Swift was supposed to play three shows in Germany. However, tickets for those concerts never went on sale.

On September 30, it was announced that Swift would return to Australia in February 2010 to play another series of concerts, but now in arenas. [7] On October 8, it was announced that the tour would be extended through June 2, 2010, to include 37 additional shows in North America. [8] It has been confirmed that Justin Bieber will be performing at the Gillette Stadium on June 5, 2010, with Swift. [9]

Tour activity [ ]

In a recent interview with US teen magazine Twist , Taylor stated that she was writing songs for her next album while touring, saying that she was 'addicted to recording'. While touring, she released the single ' American Girl ', which was recorded on Verizon's Mobile Recording Studio Bus. It is a cover of the original song by Tom Petty. It is now available via Rhapsody, iTunes Music Store or the Verizon Wireless Download Store.

Tour dates [ ], record sellouts [ ].

Tickets for the first shows for the Fearless Tour went on sale in early February 2009 and sold-out almost instantly. On February 6, 2009, tickets went on sale for the May 22 date at Los Angeles Staples Center and sold out in two minutes. [11] Tickets for several dates and venues, including Madison Square Garden, went on sale the following week and sold out in a record of one minute. Taylor Swift's reign continues as she ramps up for the next leg of The Eras Tour. The singer-songwriter will kick off the European portion of her world tour in Paris in May, which will continue throughout the summer. From there, she'll return to North America to tour Canada and a few remaining US cities in the fall. If you're hoping to attend, we've compiled all of the details of The Eras Tour, including how to get Taylor Swift tour tickets.

Swift's Eras Tour has taken the world by storm since March 2023. The three-plus-hour tour features hits from each of Swift's album eras, from "Lover" to her Grammy Award-winning "Midnights." Each show also features surprise songs and occasional guests, so fans never quite know what they're in for. Swift released her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," in April, so the Swiftie hype will continue through the summer.

Getting tickets has become its own battle and many fans have waited hours in the Ticketmaster queue to hopefully snag some seats, if they could get a presale ticket code in the first place. While Swift continues to extend the tour, including new US dates, tickets remain hard to come by.

Below, we've put together a guide on everything to know about The Eras Tour, including the tour schedule, ticket purchasing details, resale ticket prices, and the concert film streaming options . You can also peruse resale vendors like StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.

Taylor Swift international tour dates

The Eras Tour international dates resumed on May 9 in Paris. The European tour will run until August 20 in London. UK prices are listed in pounds, and start times vary from city to city. Multiple shows have age restrictions for younger kids and specifics on seating and adult accompaniment. A few venues check that a ticketholder's ID matches the name on the tickets. US dates start in October and can be found under the following table.

Taylor Swift North American tour dates

The Eras tour will return to the US on October 18 in Miami. In addition to the Miami shows, Swift will perform multiple dates in New Orleans and Indianapolis. On November 14, Swift will head to Canada for several shows in Toronto and Vancouver. All North American shows start at 7 p.m. local time.

How to buy tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 tour

Original standard tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 sold out long ago for both international and domestic dates. All US tickets and many international tickets were sold through Ticketmaster , although select international locations used different services.

Tickets for most dates are available on resale websites like StubHub and Vivid Seats . These are generally higher-priced than the originals, which are no longer available. Keep in mind that some countries have rules regarding reselling tickets.

On StubHub, UK tour dates come with a note that ticket terms don't permit resale through unauthorized channels and might not be valid for entry. If this ends up being the case, StubHub notes that its FanProtect Guarantee will cover purchasers.

How much are Taylor Swift tickets?

Ticket prices vary by date and location. International resale tickets tend to be a bit cheaper than US resale tickets. It's worth noting that some of the cheapest tickets have restricted views.

StubHub's cheapest European tickets ranged from $190 (Madrid, Spain, on May 29) to £954 (London, England on August 19). The latter is around $1,200 in USD. The lowest prices for most shows are around $200 to $1,000. On Vivid Seats , the cheapest tickets for these dates go for $278 and $963, respectively.

When it comes to North American shows, the cheapest StubHub tickets range from $1,447 (Vancouver, Canada, on December 7) to $2,520 (Indianapolis, Indiana on November 2). Most of the cheapest tickets are priced between $1,500 and $2,250. On Vivid Seats, the cheapest Taylor Swift tickets on these dates start at $1,368 and $2,227, respectively. The two resale vendors generally have similarly priced offerings, but this varies from show to show.

Who is opening for Taylor Swift's tour?

Taylor Swift has a variety of opening acts, from up-and-coming singers to established groups. Opening acts vary by date. For the European leg of the tour, Paramore will open for Swift. In the US and Canada, Gracie Abrams will be the opening act.

Will Taylor Swift add more dates to the Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift has already added additional stops to her tour due to popular demand, including her US tour dates this fall. She also added additional dates to some of her European city stops, including bonus performances in France and the United Kingdom, among other locations. It's unknown whether Swift will end up adding even more tour dates, but by the end of the upcoming US leg she will have been touring for almost two years, so fans shouldn't be surprised if she takes a break.

Will The Tortured Poets Department be a part of the Eras Tour?

It's good news for fans of "The Tortured Poets Department," Swift's new album that dropped on April 19, 2024. Swift is incorporating several of the new tracks into the Eras Tour, as evidenced by the first shows of her European leg. "The Tortured Poets Department" songs currently featured on tour include "But Daddy I Love Him," "So High School," "Down Bad," "Fortnight," "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart."

Since the Eras Tour is already pretty long, this means that Swift is also cutting down a few songs from past Eras that previously made the tour setlist. The songs that were removed from the setlist include "The Archer," "Long Live," "The 1," "The Last Great American Dynasty," "'Tis the Damn Season," and "Tolerate It."

Where can I stream The Eras Tour concert film?

Note: Certain services and regions prohibit the resale of tickets. Business Insider does not endorse or condone the illegal reselling of tickets, and entry into an event is at the venue's discretion.

A survivor's guide to Taylor Swift floor tickets: Lessons from an Eras Tour veteran

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

STOCKHOLM — Thousands of fans line up each morning ahead of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows hoping to get one of the coveted spots on the open, first-come, first-served arena floor.

In America, fans buy designated seats. Abroad, the floor is like a Southwest flight. There are no assigned seats, and those with VIP tickets nab the best spots since they are let into the arena an hour early.

Unless fans have VIP tickets, they'll probably end up in the mid-to-back sections of the floor, no matter how early they line up. After getting two floor tickets to two shows — one in Paris and one in Sweden — here are my tips for navigating the magic and madness of the ground level.

Like we were in Paris

An hour before Swift's last show in Paris, I and a friend of mine made a last-minute decision to buy $150 floor tickets off StubHub. We went to the arena 10 minutes before the opening act, Paramore, took the stage. At intermission, we stood by the VIP tent. I was able to say hi to "Grey’s Anatomy" star Jessica Capshaw . Twenty feet away, singer Christina Milian sat in a director's chair.

Up above fans noticed Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce , his best friend Ross Travis, actor Bradley Cooper, supermodel Gigi Hadid and rock star Lenny Kravitz in a suite. I could understand why Kelce was in a box. The chaos of fans zooming in on their phone cameras to get grainy shots of his every reaction and waving arm dance moves was nonstop. But I get it, I got one for Instagram when Swift punctuated her 87th — his jersey number — show with a mashup of love songs including one that he inspired: “The Alchemy,” “Treacherous,” “Begin Again” and “Paris.”

Walking along the back rim of the floor and following Swift as she performed from different parts of the massive catwalk, I felt carefree and untethered. It was liberating not to fear losing a spot. Several fans danced in the less congested area similar to the thousands who danced in theater aisles during the blockbuster release of the concert movie.

Predicting Kelce would come down near the stage during “Karma,” I walked over to the guardrail and waved during the “Midnights” song. He and Swift took a different exit than her dancers, singers and bandmates. My friend had been to the Eras Tour a few times before and said that was his favorite show.

It’s nice to have a friend

In Sweden, I bought a floor seat on the right side of the stage. Hoping to get a closer spot, I camped out. The long wait created a mini community that exchanged friendship bracelets and the latest clown theories while posting videos to Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok. My favorite costumes in the Y entrance line were two Reputation clowns wearing scaly dresses and snaky blue boas paired with bright-red clown wigs that made everyone smile. (The joke is Swifties incessantly “clown” the singer will announce the rerelease of her sixth album and she has yet to.)

The shade from Friends Arena blocked the Swedish sun with temperatures in the 70s. The less-than-long merch lines allowed fans to save each other’s spaces to buy $75 hoodies and $45 T-shirts.

With no bags allowed in the arena , fans filled their pockets with only essentials like external battery chargers, wallets, passports and chapsticks.

Patient line waiters drank water early. Two Finnish fans by me said they stopped hydrating a couple hours before doors opened for fear of getting a good place and having to use the restroom.

Thousands of VIP fans entered an hour early, and any hope of getting a stage-side dominion was lost for general admission.

I staked a claim near the railing on the side of the stage base (by the corner of the back screen). Guitarist Paul Sidoti threw guitar picks to fans. Back-up vocalists Kamilah Marshall and Eliotte Woodford waved to admirers between running backstage for wardrobe changes and joining Swift center-stage. Pianist Karina DePiano stayed at the keys the whole concert but danced and sang to every tune. The other bandmates and vocalists were on the opposite, left corner.

Security guards who bordered the stage between the fan barricade and catwalk had stacks of cups and multiple, liter-sized water bottles. They frequently asked if anyone needed hydration. Around the “1989” set two-thirds of the way into the show, Swifties took the guards up on the offer.

At least four times on Swift's third night in Stockholm, fans were escorted by a guard along the stage to an area where they would get medical attention. One of the four was carried by a guard who asked his cohorts to get the girl water. Outside, the night chill hovered at 54 degrees and inside the arena’s temperature was tepid at best.

Several water stations on the floor included disposable cups with multiple faucets over a bathtub where fans could fill up.

At one point during the acoustic set, Swift paused to ask fans , “Someone in the front row, can you tell me yes or no to this question: When you guys are putting a bunch of flashlights up in a group, does that mean people need help?”

Best seat in the house?

There are advantages to each section of the floor. The diamond part of the stage is the premier spot for the most close interactions with Swift. It gets the rising platform, smoke shooters and bulk of the performances.

The two base corners by the back screen and the catwalk between the back screen and diamond allow fans to see “The Man” set, “Folklore” cottage and famous “Enchanted” look back as Swift exits the “Speak Now” era. It’s also the space where most entrances and exits happen.

The far end of the catwalk is where the “22" hat is given out, where “Love Story” culminates as flashing lights shoot across the entire arena and where Swift begins “The Tortured Poets Department” era with “But Daddy I Love Him.”

After being to multiple shows, I would vie for a seat looking directly at the stage, perpendicular to the back screen. You get the chance to give your legs and back a rest between eras. You have a designated spot, and you can see the entire show including animations.

The open floor offers two options. For the VIP ticket holder, you get a front row vantage of the record-breaking show along with the best photo and video opportunities. But if you’re not in VIP and on the floor, succumb to not getting the best media and dance in your best dress, fearless.

Taylor Swift concert cost breakdown: Fans say price of Toronto trip is worth it

If you get Global News from Instagram or Facebook - that will be changing. Find out how you can still connect with us .

Canadian fans who managed to score tickets for one of Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated six shows in Toronto have already spent a good chunk of money.

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

Those who live outside the Toronto area are now also budgeting for the cost of travel and accommodation in November 2024.

The Canadian Press spoke to several Swifties about how much they’re expecting to spend.

WINNING THE GOLDEN TICKET

Ashley Stewart, 24, saw Taylor Swift during her Fearless tour when it made a stop in her home province of Prince Edward Island back in 2010. This time around, she knew the pop star wouldn’t be stopping anywhere east of Toronto.

“Being from the Atlantic provinces, we fully knew that we would have to travel somewhere if we wanted to see her. So, we were expecting that if we wanted to go to the Eras Tour, we would have to pay to travel,” the longtime Swifty said.

Stewart said getting the presale code for Swift tickets felt like a scene straight out of a movie.

“I feel like we’re in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’ and I just opened my golden ticket,” she told her grandmother when she opened the email with the code from Ticketmaster.

On Friday morning, Stewart secured two tickets, costing her and her best friend just over $150 each.

Since flights and hotels can’t be booked so far in advance, Stewart is using available November 2023 prices to estimate that a round-trip flight from Charlottetown will cost around $500 per person, before taxes.

“The flight will definitely be the most expensive part,” she said, adding that she’s still not sure about hotel prices.

“If it had been this year, I definitely would not have been able to do it, but saving for 14 months is making it better.”

Estimated total cost, including tickets and transportation: $650 per person.

SAVING A YEAR IN ADVANCE

Augine Mendita, a 28-year-old longtime fan from Edmonton, was hoping Swift would come to her city’s large football stadium. With a capacity of 56,400, Commonwealth Stadium is the the largest open-air stadium in Canada.

But Mendita wasn’t surprised Toronto was chosen — now it will be her first time visiting.

One of her friends received a Ticketmaster presale code and together they opted for the cheaper tickets. In tears of joy, they secured the maximum four tickets at $169 each.

“Flying within Canada is not cheap. It’s probably like cheaper to go to America even, than flying to Toronto.” Tweet This Click to share quote on Twitter: "Flying within Canada is not cheap. It's probably like cheaper to go to America even, than flying to Toronto."

Mendita couldn’t find accommodations so far in advance, but estimates flights and hotels or Airbnb rentals will cost each person around $500.

She said it’s a good thing accommodations can at least be shared by four people.

“I think it’s for sure worth it and also I like that we can save a year in advance,” she said.

The next step for Mendita is to figure out which of her eight friends will be taking the four tickets.

Estimated total cost, including tickets, accommodations and transportation: $795 per person.

‘ONCE IN A LIFETIME’

Melissa Gunn cried four times during the process of getting Swift concert tickets for her and her 10-year-old daughter.

“I’m overwhelmed and there’s just sheer excitement for both me and Violet because she’s such a good kid. And she really deserves this,” the 44-year-old from Nova Scotia said.

Gunn will be tucking away “fun money” from every paycheque between now and November 2024.

“As soon as I can, I’m going to set some Google Alerts so I can track these flight prices, and then likely talk to some of my family and friends to see if I can stay (with them) for at least a portion of the trip,” she said.

Hoping to surprise her daughter with a hotel in the vicinity of the concert venue, Gunn estimates the trip will cost the pair $5,000 including tickets, hotels and food.

“If this trip was solely for me, I probably would question the price of all this. But because it’s like a once-in-a-lifetime big thing for my daughter in her preteen years, it doesn’t matter,” she said.

Estimated total cost, including tickets, accommodations and transportation: $2,500 per person.

This is How Much It Costs to See Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour

For some, forking over four digits for a concert is just too much, but for others, the experience is worth the money.

Gabrielle Lask isn’t normally a big spender, but when she had an opportunity to purchase two tickets to Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour for $4,000, the Swiftie just couldn’t “shake off” the chance to see the singer with her mom.

“It’s so much money,” Lask says. “I honestly don’t think I’ve ever spent that much money on anything in my life, but I was dying to go to that show. My mom surprised me with tickets for my 11th birthday for the Fearless tour, and this would be a full-circle moment for us to go back together.”

How Lask Covered the Cost

Lask, 24, and her mother first tried purchasing tickets through the presale program for Capital One cardholders , which reportedly offered ticket prices as low as $49.

When that didn’t work out, Lask says they tried several avenues to get tickets before connecting with a ticket broker who could get them the unobstructed, 300-level tickets for $2,000 each.

To cover the cost, Lask says she took $3,000 out of her savings account to pay for the tickets. Her mom paid the other $1,000 and paid for Lask’s flight from Florida to St. Louis, where they met and drove to Chicago together for the concert. Her mother also paid for the hotel room after the concert.

Resale Ticket Prices Have Gone Through the Ceiling

Lask wasn’t the only fan spending thousands on tickets to The Eras Tour – resale ticket prices have skyrocketed, even as the singer has continued to add more tour dates. Earlier this month, Swift unveiled a schedule for previously unannounced North American shows running through November in Miami, New Orleans, Indiana and Canada. After that, she'll take the show abroad.

The average resale ticket sold for the concert at the time of publications is $1,619, according to SeatGeek. By comparison, the average resale concert ticket this year is about $245.

“What makes (Swift’s ticket sales) even more impressive is that she is drawing this level of demand while playing at the largest venues in the country,” says Chris Leyden, director of growth marketing at SeatGeek. “Taylor nearly broke the internet during her Eras Tour tickets sales, and the demand has not subsided.”

Fans Went Way Over Budget

Even fans who managed to get their tickets during the presale at lower prices often spent more than they expected.

Swift may have competition when it comes to fans spending on concert tickets, however. A recent InvestorsObserver survey found that fans of Beyonce were laying out an average of $1,800 each to see Queen Bey perform, about $300 more than the average spend by Swifties.

For some, however, forking over four digits for a concert is just too much. More than 70% of consumers recently told LendingTree that they've opted out of seeing their favorite performers because prices were too high.

But for Lask, who has seen Swift in concert four times, the experience was worth the money.

“She is my favorite artist, and she has released so much new music since her last tour, I couldn’t miss it,” Lask says. “It was so amazing, I cried multiple times. It was surreal being there after the battle and uncertainty of getting tickets. I just couldn’t believe I was there.”

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift  transformed the renovated Santiago Bernabéu Stadium into a musical party on Wednesday (May 29), performing to a euphoric crowd of approximately 65,000 fans. It wasn’t only a night full of music and excitement but a triumphant return for Swift, who had not played in Madrid since 2011, with only about 4,000 people in attendance at the WiZink Center. Much has changed since then, and now Swift hangs the “sold out” sign at each of her concerts.

From the first moment she stepped on stage, Swift made it clear how special this night was for her. “It’s an honor to be able to say this so many years later,” she said in English before exclaiming in Spanish, “ Madrid, ¡bienvenidos al Eras Tour! ” Thus began a show of more than three hours where the audience sang non-stop, dancing and vibing with every note. The stadium’s energy was electrifying from the first chord to the last applause.

Swift opened her first of two dates in Madrid with an impressive 45-song set list, organized into 10 sections representing each of her musical eras: Lover , Fearless , Red , Speak Now , Reputation , Folklore/Evermore , 1989 , The Tortured Poets Department , and a surprise set of songs from 2022’s Midnights to close the night. Each era was a journey through time, remembering and celebrating the evolution of one of the world’s most beloved artists.

The singer was visibly moved by the audience’s support and did not miss the opportunity to refer to those 13 years of waiting, promising that “it will never be that long again” until she returns to Spain. With another show scheduled at the Bernabéu Stadium on May 30, Swift’s magic continues to ignite hearts in the Spanish capital. Here are our favorite moments from the special night.

Speaking in Spanish

The artist began the night by greeting the audience in Spanish, demonstrating her effort to connect with local fans. “ Buenas tardes, encantada de veros ,” Swift said after performing the first two tracks from the album Lover , translating to “Good afternoon, nice to see you all.” Throughout the night, she continued to use Spanish phrases, including, “ Madrid, bienvenidos a The Eras Tour ” (“Madrid, welcome to The Eras Tour”).

One of the most applauded moments occurred during the song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”, when the singer surprised the audience by passing the microphone to one of the dancers, who completed the phrase with an emphatic “ ni de coña ,” which is local slang that roughly translates to “no way.”

Another exciting moment came when Swift performed songs from her 1989 era, wearing an outfit designed by Roberto Cavalli that made a clear nod to the flag of Spain. The star emerged with a red strapless top and a yellow skirt , leading the whole Bernabéu to cheer in approval at the top of their lungs.

Throughout The Eras Tour, Swift has been combining tops and skirts in different colors, from pink and green to yellow and blue at one of her concerts in Sweden. During the Folklore era in Madrid, she wore an Alberta Ferretti dress for the first time in blue, having previously worn it in green and in yellow.

Celebrities in Attendance

Among the thousands in attendance were multiple local and international celebrities, from singers Aitana and Manuel Carrasco (both soon to perform at the same stadium) to the Haim sisters, and Hollywood actors Blake Lively  and Ryan Reynolds with their children.

Aitana arrived at the concert a few minutes after Swift jumped on stage, being greeted with screams and applause from the audience. The “Alpha” singer, who will also fill the Bernabéu for two nights in December, expressed her excitement on Instagram: “Taylor, we LOVE YOU. This is being a dream. I can’t believe that in less than 7 months I’m going to be singing here. December 28 (sold out) and 29 (last tickets left).”

One of the most touching moments occurred before Swift performed “Betty,” when she smiled at Lively and Reynolds’ three children, mentioning that her favorite Folklore characters are James, Ines and Betty. The family enjoyed the concert with special poignancy, given that the children’s names inspired the song. These details underscored Swift’s ability to create an intimate and personal atmosphere in a stadium filled with thousands of people.

The Surprise Songs

Taylor Swift always takes advantage of the acoustic segment of each of her shows to perform unexpected songs, and Madrid was no exception. For her first night in the capital, she chose “Sparks Fly” and “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” to play on guitar, and “I Look in People’s Windows” and “Snow On The Beach” on piano. It was a special and intimate moment in which the audience sang every lyric along with her.

During the performance of “Snow On The Beach,” a trap door on stage opened, causing a surge of excitement among the audience. With her trademark sense of humor, Swift quickly interjected, “I’m sorry, but it’s not Lana [del Rey],” sparking laughter and applause from the audience.

A Sweet Gesture to a Fan

Among the most memorable moments of the night, Swift gave her hat to a young girl in the audience during the song “22.” The star approached her and spoke to her for a few seconds, as cheers from the audience filled the stadium. It’s not something she hasn’t done in the past, but still, the gesture was touching and surely unforgettable for the young fan.

Who are Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour opening acts?

Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour opening acts include Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers, Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, and more. Two of Swift’s The Eras Tour opening acts have been featured on her songs: Haim, who was featured on the “No Body, No Crime” from Swift’s 2020 album Evermore; and Phoebe Bridgers, who was featured on “Nothing New” from her 2021 album Red (Taylor’s Version) . “I got this random text from Aaron Dessner that was really weirdly worded for him,” she said. “And I was like, ‘What the fuck is this?’ And as I was reading it, I [realised], ‘Oh, my God, it’s from Taylor Swift,'” Bridgers told Billboard in 2022. “We started texting about all kinds of stuff. It was just a total high. It felt like when you meet someone at a party and you’re in the corner all night being like, ‘Me too!’”.

Taylor Swift poses on the red carpet.

It’s back to France for Taylor Swift .

On June 2-3, Time Magazine’s 2023 Person Of The Year will play back-to-back ‘Eras Tour’ concerts at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium with special guest Paramore.

These gigs come on the heels of Swift’s four nights at Paris’ La Defense Arena in early May.

The biggest difference between those shows and the upcoming pair in Lyon is the price.

While tickets started at $246 USD before fees for the Paris concerts, they’re much, much cheaper should you go to Groupama Stadium .

Case in point, there are tickets going for as low as $69 USD before fees on Vivid Seats for the Monday, June 3 show at the time of publication.

Not bad at all considering tix to see Tay Tay in the U.S. typically cost over $1,000 last year.

Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ news

Our team has been following the ‘Eras Tour’ closely over the past year.

Over the past few months, we spoke to a Swiftie who  shared some helpful tips  about seeing Taylor live, reported on  dropping ticket prices  and  came up with a list of all the most exciting fan trends .

Taylor Swift new music

Swift’s  “The Tortured Poets Department”  was released at midnight (and subsequently at 2 a.m.) on Friday, April 19.

While every listener will likely come away with their own favorites, we particularly enjoyed the sleek, synthy “Fortnight,” icy “So Long, London,” anthemic “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” a bombastic slow build of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and gorgeously arranged “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus.”

If you want to give it a spin — if you haven’t already, that is — you can find “The Tortured Poets Department”  here .

The Hayley Williams-fronted pop-punk rockers are opening for Swift from May through August this year. This may come as a bit of a surprise to some fans considering that the group mounted a successful arena tour of their own in 2023.

That tour, came on the heels of Paramore’s 2022 reunion; prior to that, the band had been on a five-year hiatus.

For fans who want to check out their latest, their 2023 album “This Is Why” can be heard  here .

Huge stars on tour in 2024

Although it will cost an arm and a leg (sometimes more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable — likely stateside — concerts you can attend this year.

Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.

•  Olivia Rodrigo

•  Kacey Musgraves

•  Pink

•  Chappell Roan

•  Billie Eilish

Who else is on the road this year? Check out our list of the  50 biggest concert tours in 2024  to find out.

I Went To Taylor Swift's Eras Tour On Opening Night To Ask Real Life Fans How Much They Actually Paid For Tickets And How They Even Afforded Them

Only three fans I met were able to buy tickets through the original sale. Everyone else got theirs through resale — the average price paid was almost $700.

Pernell Quilon

BuzzFeed Staff

As I drove to Taylor Swift's Eras tour in Arizona, the thousands of fans who were not able to buy tickets to the sold-out tour flooded my mind — the official sale was poorly-handled by Ticketmaster , forcing fans to either buy from scalpers at exorbitant prices or simply decide to not go at all. I fell in the former category, and I was very curious how much money other Swifties spent to be among the 70,000 people who attended the opening night . So, I decided to ask them.

taylor swift performing

I was inspired by my recent journeys of uncovering random New Yorkers' monthly rent and real life Erewhon customers' most priciest grocery purchase.

Out of the 30 people I approached before and after the show, 25 of them were down to get candid about the cash they dropped for their Eras tickets and how they afforded it.

Before getting into their answers, here's a seating chart of State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona to help visualize where folks were sitting and put their ticket costs into context.

The stage and its catwalk is highlighted yellow on the map above. For context, I was at floor section F row 2 in an aisle seat — the first picture at the top of this post was the view of the end of the catwalk from where I was.

Now, here are 25 Taylor Swift fans' confessions of how much money they actually spent on tickets, the jobs they work to even afford the concert, where their seat was, what song they were most excited to hear, and the anonymous doodles I drew of them in exchange for their honesty:

Note: Some names have been changed to honor anonymity.

"This is my first of five nights I'm going for this tour. I'm right in front of the catwalk. I wanted to be as close as possible to celebrate this milestone with Taylor."

"My group has been serious fans since seeing her at the 2007 Christmas tree lighting in New York. We snagged seats together for tonight during the second chance Ticketmaster sale .

And picking one song is impossible...I'll go with 'Bejeweled' since my top is, too."

"I got my tickets last night, which is so last minute. Sure, I paid a lot. But my ass belongs here in that floor seat."

"I'm really hoping I can get in. I've been on my phone for the past hour refreshing the Stubhub ticket page. I'm waiting for a price I can actually afford."

[Author's note: Legend has it that Carolina continues to wait outside of State Farm stadium to this day.]

"My wife has really gotten me into Taylor Swift, and this her first time back to one of her shows in years. We're so high up, but we're one of the lucky ones who actually made the original pre-sale."

"We live in the States now, and we're all from India. It's incredible to be here because of how much each of us have grown, and how long Taylor's music has been a part of our journeys."

"Today is extra special because it's my birthday. I'm really excited to be here, maybe even more so than my high school students I bumped into."

"We did spend a lot of money on our tickets, but we never got our Lover fest. That album means a lot to us, so honestly, it's worth the $3,000 we spent to be here."

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

"This might be the last time I'll be able to see Taylor in concert. I have a really serious chronic illness, sickle cell anemia. So I'm just really cherishing this night.

I came all the way from Boston, and I got my ticket during the pre-sale."

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

"I made this jacket myself. Hearing 'Tim McGraw' was truly emotional for me. Being here tonight meant everything to me. I'm glad I got to be here."

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

"I'm actually really high right now."

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

"I work in retail as a second job. I really put effort into my willow tree costume, so I was screaming when Taylor called it out on stage."

[Note: Taylor Swift mused to the audience how great it was to see fans in "outfits inspired by specific lyrics, really deep inside jokes between us, and even someone dressed up as a literal willow tree."]

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

"I missed the reputation  tour in 2018 when I moved from Boston to here, so I've been waiting for this concert for a very, very long time. And he's my best friend."

"Her fiancé bought our tickets."

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

"I'm coming again tomorrow. I'm an admin for a Taylor Swift ticket resale group, too. A couple of us are here actually! It's a cool community, and we help each other out."

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

"Both of us on the left side are reputation  stans. The right two? Team  Lover . Kayla even named her cat Archer. Seriously. It was huge for us to be here.

Our tickets were resale. We're happy with what we paid for the view we got."

how much were taylor swift fearless tour tickets

"This was my first Taylor Swift concert. A long time coming, and it was damn special. Now I'm just trying to get an Uber like everybody else."

My takeaway: Of all the Taylor Swift fans I spoke to that night, the average ticket price paid was $691.74 — objectively ridiculous. Almost all bought their tickets via resale. Only three fans I met were able to buy tickets through the original sale, and only one group got seats through the second chance ticket sale that occurred after the Senate hearing involving Ticketmaster , which has still led to no meaningful action. Every fan I met had a special reason to be there and were willing to pay the overwhelming amount of money they did, but they shouldn't have had to.

That said, the opening night of the Eras tour was an epically beautiful experience masterfully curated by Taylor. I'm excited for all other fans to experience it, even if it's through all the  recap footage thankfully floating around on social media.

Being honest empowers others to do the same —  there's nothing shameful about money you spend to attend an event that's meaningful to you.

Taylor Swift Asks Security in French to Help Fan at Lyon Eras Tour Stop

Taylor Swift to the rescue -- again! The pop star took a moment during her latest Eras Tour stop i n Lyon, France to help a fan in need, issuing a call-to-action in expertly-articulated French.

While sitting at her moss-covered piano during the Evermore portion of her live show, Swift directed her attention to an audience member in apparent distress.

"Do you need help? Yeah?" Swift asked the individual before asking for help from venue security.

"Aidez-les, s'il vous plaît," she said twice into her microphone. The French phrase translates to, "Help them, please."

Then, Swift elaborated in English, "Can we get someone to go over there? They're right in the front. There we go! Awesome."

This is not the first time Swift has paused her performance to get help for fans. She has done the same thing in a number of cities -- including Madrid, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; and Stockholm, Sweden -- in the last month alone.

"We have to take care of these crowds because you're just the best, and you just dance so wildly and sing so loudly, and the way that you just, like, are so in the moment, I never could have imagined we would have this much fun on the European Tour," she said in Lyon, according to a fan-captured video on social media. "It's just been crazy, you guys, and I appreciate it so much."

At another point in the show, she showed off her French skills again while telling the crowd, "Je vous aime tous. Merci beaucoup." ("I love you all. Thank you very much.")

Last week, Swift spoke in Spanish to say "Ayuda por favor" ("Help, please") in Madrid, Spain. The week before that, it was a mid-song "Ajuda por favor" in Lisbon, Portugal .

While performing in Stockholm, Sweden, in May, she noticed fans wielding flashlights and checked to see if they were asking for assistance.

"When you guys are holding a bunch of flashlights up in a group does that mean people need help? Say yes if it means [that]," the singer asked the group. "OK, if I see that again I’m gonna try to put it out."

Last year, she deescalated a tense confrontation between a fan and a security guard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

"She's fine," Swift could be heard saying in a video pointing off stage during the chorus of "Bad Blood." "She wasn't doing anything. Hey, stop! Stop."

Swift continued to urge security to stop and waited for the situation to calm before heading to the other side of the stage, all while singing the hit track.

In November, Swift's pal Maren Morris shed light on the star's "kind and generous" ethos when it comes to the treatment of Swifties at her shows.

After the collaborators took the stage together during Swift's Eras concert in Chicago, Illinois -- singing their  Fearless (Taylor's Version)   vault track, "You All Over Me"  -- Morris said she was hugely impressed by a tiny gesture with a significant impact.

"There was these signs on the inside of the barricades of her stadium shows and it says -- basically to the local security, like -- 'Fan-friendly show. Be kind,'" Morris shared on  The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon .  "So even to, like, the local security, her team saying, like, 'Don't mess with the fans. They're here to have fun.' And everyone's really respectful and I was like, 'Oh, I loved that.'"

Morris also admitted, "She's setting a high bar."

Fan safety is undoubtedly top of mind for Swift, following the tragic November death of Ana Clara Benevides Machado . The 23-year-old college student  died hours before Swift's concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Nov. 17  due to cardiac arrest, likely as a result of an extreme heat wave.

"I can't believe I'm writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show," Swift said in a handwritten note shared on her Instagram Story at the time. "I can't even tell you how devastated I am by this. There's very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young."

While performing in Rio, Swift did her best to make sure to help the crowds stayed hydrated . In fan-captured videos, singer could be seen grabbing a bottle of water from someone in the crowd and throwing it to a fan in need of water. There's  another video  on social media showing Swift, along with fans, chant "water" in an effort to get security and staff's attention to help a fan in need.
