Giants Live World Tour Finals 2023

Glasgow prepares for a climactic clash – the world tour finals.

World’s Strongest Man Mitchell Hooper, the defending champion, is set to renew his keen rivalry with the two-time WSM winner, Tom Stoltman. Hooper dethroned the Invergordon man in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, earlier this year, and the pair clashed again at the Strongman Classic at London’s Royal Albert Hall, with Stoltman getting the better of the Canadian on that occasion. Hooper prevailed at their most recent head-to head at the Shaw Classic, so predicting the result in Glasgow will be anything but easy!

World Log Lift Challenge 2023

If the Hooper vs Stoltman showdown isn’t enough, then perhaps the prospect of Iron Biby attempting to re-write his own Log Lift world record will suffice! No other human has ever pressed more overhead than Cheick Sanou – more commonly known as Iron Biby – and on his last visit to Glasgow he eclipsed Žydrūnas Savickas’s world record with a stunning 229kg (504lb) press.

Scotland’s Own Tom Stoltman Takes Home Title at 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals With Dominant Performance

Two-time World's Strongest Man adds another title to his resume.

Squaring off against a stacked lineup of strongman competitors that included Mitchell Hooper , current World’s Strongest man and winner of the 2022 Giants Live World Tour , Tom “The Albatross” Stoltman cemented his case as the best of the bunch by winning the 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals.

Showcasing his range of skills across five grueling events, the two-time World’s Strongest Man captured the coveted title on Oct. 21, 2023, in front of a gregarious Glasgow crowd that proudly cheered on both Tom and his older brother, Luke Stoltman , who were born and raised roughly 200 miles north in Invergordon, Scotland. Although New Zealand’s Mathew Ragg came agonizingly close to besting the younger Stoltman brother, Ragg ultimately finished three points behind the champion for a hard-fought second-place finish.

Here are the final standings from the 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals:

Event Breakdown

Tom Stoltman undoubtedly stole the show with a dominant all-around outing that saw him secure victories in three of the five events. However, he certainly wasn’t the only strongman who shined.

Here’s a detailed event-by-event breakdown of the 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals.

Event One: Max Log Lift

The competition kicked off with a classic strongman event that tested the athletes’ upper-body strength and power. To little surprise, Tom Stoltman took home top honors in the Max Log Lift, becoming the only man to successfully overhead press a 463-pound (210-kilogram) log. Meanwhile, Mitchell Hooper, Pavlo Kordiyaka, Luke Stoltman, and Tyler Cotton each earned 9.5 points by locking out 440.9 pounds (200 kilograms).

Although he did not participate in the overall competition, Cheick “Iron Biby” Sanou delivered the most impressive rep of them all by pressing 507.1 pounds (230 kilograms) to set the Log Lift World Record. Sanou also held the previous record, 504.8 pounds (229 kilograms), which he set at the 2021 edition of the contest.

  • Tom Stoltman — 463 pounds (210 kilograms)
  • Mitchell Hooper — 440.9 pounds (200 kilograms)
  • Pavlo Kordiyaka — 440.9 pounds (200 kilograms)
  • Luke Stoltman — 440.9 pounds (200 kilograms)
  • Tyler Cotton — 440.9 pounds (200 kilograms)
  • Mathew Ragg — 410.1 pounds (186 kilograms)
  • Ondřej Fojtů — 410.1 pounds (186 kilograms)
  • Gavin Bilton — 374.8 pounds (170 kilograms)
  • Eddie Williams — 374.8 pounds (170 kilograms)
  • Evans Aryee — 374.8 pounds (170 kilograms)
  • Pa O’Dwyer — No Lift
  • Conor Curran — No Lift

Event Two: Sandbag Steeplechase

A staple in Giants Live competitions, the second event required the athletes to pick up, carry, and throw two 330.7-pound (150-kilogram) sandbags over a waist-high pole. As if that wasn’t challenging enough, they then had to go around to the other side of the pole, lift the sandbags again, and load them onto a platform.

Proving he had the right combination of brute strength and fleet feet, Tom Stoltman took home his second straight victory by completing the course in just under 30 seconds . He narrowly edged out 2023 Europe’s Strongest Man Pavlo Kordiyaka, who finished in second place by just over half a second.

  • Tom Stoltman — 29.92 seconds
  • Pavlo Kordiyaka — 30.48 seconds
  • Mathew Ragg — 31.41 seconds
  • Luke Stoltman — 33.62 seconds
  • Ondřej Fojtů — 34.44 seconds
  • Mitchell Hooper — 34.63 seconds
  • Conor Curran — 35.30 seconds
  • Gavin Bilton — 36.81 seconds
  • Pa O’Dwyer — 36.84 seconds
  • Tyler Cotton — 37.76 seconds
  • Evans Aryee — 38.22 seconds
  • Eddie Williams — 42.16 seconds

Event Three: Axle Deadlift

The third event revolved around the good ol’ deadlift . Only in this case, the weight was loaded onto an axle — a thicker, stiffer, and more difficult implement to utilize compared to a standard barbell. Competitors had to perform as many repetitions as possible with 771.6 pounds (350 kilograms), and for the first time on the day, Tom Stoltman didn’t finish ahead of the pack.

Six-time New Zealand’s Strongest Man Mathew Ragg starred in this deadlift challenge , pulling off eight reps and securing the maximum amount of points. Overall, only four of the 12 competitors completed at least five reps.

  • Mathew Ragg — Eight reps
  • Tom Stoltman — Seven reps
  • Mitchell Hooper — Seven reps
  • Gavin Bilton — Five reps
  • Pavlo Kordiyaka — Four reps
  • Luke Stoltman — Four reps
  • Ondřej Fojtů — Four reps
  • Pa O’Dwyer — Four reps
  • Eddie Williams — Four reps
  • Tyler Cotton — Three reps
  • Conor Curran — Three reps
  • Evans Aryee — Withdrew

Event Four: Conan’s Wheel

The penultimate event proved to be the most challenging for the eventual champion. Conan’s Wheel required the strongmen to pick up a metal beam fixed to a center point and spin it around as far as possible without letting it hit the floor. After finishing in first in two of the first three events, Tom Stoltman slipped to fifth.

On the other hand, Mathew Ragg continued to build momentum from the Axle Deadlift , completing almost two and a half revolutions (845 degrees) before bowing out. The New Zealand native needed every step to secure a narrow victory, as Mitchell Hooper came within four degrees of a first-place tie, settling for second with 841 degrees. Pavlo Kordiyaka (820 degrees) and Ireland’s Pa O’Dwyer (756 degrees) were the only other competitors who surpassed two full revolutions.

  • Mathew Ragg — 845 degrees
  • Mitchell Hooper — 841 degrees
  • Pavlo Kordiyaka — 820 degrees
  • Pa O’Dwyer — 756 degrees
  • Tom Stoltman — 618 degrees
  • Gavin Bilton — 608 degrees
  • Luke Stoltman — 562 degrees
  • Ondřej Fojtů — 553 degrees
  • Conor Curran — 506 degrees
  • Eddie Williams — 471 degrees
  • Tyler Cotton — 425 degrees

Event Five: Castle Stones

The final event featured five gargantuan stones ranging from 264.6 pounds (120 kilograms) to 440.9 pounds (200 kilograms). In a test of both strength and coordination, the athletes had to pick each one up and load it onto a platform in the fastest time possible. Four of the five strongmen completed the circuit, but Tom Stoltman shockingly needed less than 20 seconds to secure his spot atop the podium.

While Mathew Ragg did well to load all five Atlas stones in 28.81 seconds, he finished nearly 10 seconds behind. Luke Stoltman and Gavin Bilton also succeeded in getting that 440.9-pound stone onto the platform. However, the former took nearly double the time as his brother to accomplish that feat.

  • Tom Stoltman — Five in 19.23 seconds
  • Mathew Ragg — Five in 28.81 seconds
  • Luke Stoltman — Five in 37.56 seconds
  • Gavin Bilton — Five in 41.64 seconds
  • Mitchell Hooper — Four in 19.32 seconds
  • Eddie Williams — Four in 23.71 seconds
  • Pavlo Kordiyaka — Four in 25.94 seconds
  • Tyler Cotton — Four in 29.13 seconds
  • Pa O’Dwyer — Four in 50.11 seconds
  • Ondřej Fojtů — Three in 42.16 seconds

By winning three of the five events — including one in exceedingly dominant fashion — Tom Stoltman left no doubt about who deserved to stand atop the podium at the 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals. Still, it’s safe to say that Mathew Ragg raised some eyebrows by pushing the champion to the brink in what essentially amounted to a two-man race for the title. With the 2023 Rogue Strongman Invitational right around the corner on Oct. 27-28, let’s see if Stoltman keeps the train rolling.

2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals Roster Confirmed

2023 world's strongest man mitchell hooper will compete in glasgow..

Phil Blechman

The 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals are scheduled for Oct. 21, 2021, in Glasgow, Scotland, and will feature the 2023 World Log Lift Championships. Among the athletes on the confirmed roster are 2023 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) champion Mitchell Hooper , former two-time WSM champion Tom Stoltman , and current log lift world record holder Chieck “Iron Biby” Sanou .

Hooper is the defending World Tour Finals champion, having scored 52 of a possible 60 points in 2022. Check out a breakdown of the roster in the video below, courtesy of 2016 Europe’s Strongest Man (ESM) champion Laurence Shahlaei ‘s YouTube channel, followed by the full 13-athlete roster.

To place a bet against anyone other than the reigning WSM champion Hooper or two-time former WSM champion Tom Stoltman would typically be for those boldly looking to lose their shirt. However, the field might be a bit more flat in Glasgow than it reads on paper. The weekend after the 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals is the 2023 Rogue Strongman Invitational , a two-day event, as opposed to a single-day event like the World Tour Finals, boasting a much higher prize purse.

Hooper and both Stoltman brothers are confirmed for the 2023 Rogue Strongman Invitational roster. Therefore, it wouldn’t be out of left field to expect Tom Stoltman, Luke Stoltman, and Hooper not to go all out for the win in Glasgow to ensure they have enough in the tank to compete at the top of their games in Round Rock, TX, where the Dell Diamond Stadium that hosts the Rogue Invitational resides.

Additionally, for Hooper, the Rogue Strongman Invitational is one of the few remaining premier strongman contests he doesn’t have on the gold side of his resume — he’s the reigning Arnold Strongman Classic and WSM champion. The events for the World Tour Finals have not been released yet at the time of this article’s publication, other than a max log lift for the World Log Lift Championships. So it isn’t currently clear if the contest will bias athletes who excel in dynamic strength versus static strength.

If the events reward the former, Kordiyaka and O’Dwyer will have juicy podium chances on their hands. If the events reward the latter, perhaps Bilton and Ragg are the athletes likeliest to contend for gold. In Glasgow, the looming presence of the Rogue Invitational is likely to play a factor. If that proves true, the question becomes which athlete will take advantage?

2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals Unveils Exciting Strongman Events

The 2023 world tour finals will showcase five thrilling events, as announced by giants live..

Blake Trudustein

Glasgow, a city renowned for its rich history and vibrant culture, is on the cusp of adding another spectacle to its calendar. As the fall season brings about its chilly embrace, there’s an undercurrent of excitement heating up the streets. The reason? The 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals. Scheduled for October 21st, this Strongman competition promises to be not just a test of sheer strength, but also a celebration of human endurance and spirit.

The Evolution of Giants Live

The Giants Live World Tour Finals, over the years, has grown from a modest gathering of strength enthusiasts to an event that draws global attention. Its journey mirrors the evolution of strongman competitions, from niche events in remote Scandinavian towns to global telecasts attracting millions of viewers. Every year, it seems, the competition outdoes itself, and 2023 is set to continue this legacy.

Events that Test the Limits

This year, the Giants Live committee has chosen an eclectic mix of traditional and innovative challenges for the participants:

Often considered the litmus test for any aspiring strongman, the Log Lift will see competitors pushing their limits, attempting to overhead press logs of monumental weights. With Cheick “Iron Biby” Sanou , the reigning Log Lift World Record holder in the lineup, sparks are guaranteed to fly.

Agility meets brute strength in this event. Athletes will have to demonstrate quick reflexes and immense power as they hoist hefty sandbags over beams and race around to place them on platforms, all against the ticking clock.

The Enigma of the Axle Deadlift

Deadlifts are foundational in strength training . But this isn’t your ordinary deadlift. Using an Axle barbell adds a complex twist, challenging grip strength and lifting technique. While the precise format remains a mystery, it’s bound to be a crowd-pleaser.

Inspired by the cinematic classic, “Conan the Barbarian”, this event is as brutal as it sounds. Athletes must channel their inner warriors, bearing the weight of a mammoth metal beam while taking it for a dizzying spin around a pivot.

In a fitting end to the competition, participants will grapple with a sequence of spherical boulders, each heavier than the last. Precision, strategy, and raw strength converge as competitors race to place each stone on its altar.

Roster of Giants: The Titans of 2023

  • Tom Stoltman: The Scottish Hercules, home-turf favorite.
  • Luke Stoltman : The older Stoltman, known for his unparalleled grip strength.
  • Mitchell Hooper: The Australian dynamo, a rising star.
  • Luke Richardson: Britain’s young prodigy with several records to his name.
  • Eddie Williams: Known as the “Singing Strongman” from Down Under.
  • Mathew Ragg: New Zealand’s powerhouse with a reputation for surprises.
  • Pavlo Kordiyaka: Ukraine’s pride, a formidable force.
  • Gavin Bilton: The Welsh giant, consistently impressive.
  • Pa O’Dwyer: Ireland’s strongest, a perfect blend of power and technique.
  • Evans Nana: Ghana’s beacon in the strongman arena.
  • Tyler Cotton: Canada’s newest sensation.
  • Iron Biby: Burkina Faso’s legend, always the one to watch.
  • Conor Curran: Northern Ireland’s prodigious talent, a technical genius.

The 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals is not just another competition on the strongman circuit. It’s a culmination of months of rigorous training, years of dedication, and a lifetime of passion for all involved. As the city of Glasgow prepares to host this colossal event, the world watches with bated breath. With champions and challengers converging on one stage, the air is thick with anticipation. The question on everyone’s mind: Who will emerge as the ultimate titan of strength? Only time, and perhaps the weight of a few boulders, will tell.

giants live world tour finals 2023

The first match of the evening sees reigning World Champion Nour ElSherbini take on US No.1 Olivia Weaver for a place in the title decider.

The semi-final clash will be a first for Weaver, having previously only reached the third round. The American reached the semi-finals after defeated Egypt’s Fayrouz Aboelkheir in an exciting quarter-final clash.

The World No.1 reached her 11th World Championship semi-final with a third-round win over compatriot Amina Orfi and a quarter-final victory over Belgium’s Tinne Gilis. The World Champion has never lost a World Championship semi-final match to date.

In the six previous encounters between the two players, the ‘Warrior Princess’ has won on all occasions. In that time, Weaver has taken just one game of the top seed, at the 2023 US Open semi-final.

Ali Farag v Diego Elias

giants live world tour finals 2023

In a clash with plenty of recent history, World No.1 Ali Farag faces World No.4 Diego Elias for the fifth time in the 2023/24 season. The encounter is the first time the two have met this season outside of a final.

The ‘Peruvian Puma’ reached the semi-final with strong performances over Qatar’s Abdulla Al-Tamimi, Spain’s Iker Pajares, Egypt’s Youssef Ibrahim and Egypt’s Karim Abdel Gawad. Elias has yet to lose a game so far in his tournament run.

The top seed defeated Scotland’s Greg Lobban, Argentina’s Leandro Romiglio and Egypt’s Tarek Momen on his route to reclaim the World Championships for a fifth consecutive year.

Farag has a convincing head-to-head record over his South American rival, winning 22 of the 25 previous meetings, most recently winning in the final of the Tournament of Championships earlier this year.

Nouran Gohar v Hania El Hammamy

giants live world tour finals 2023

In another classic bout, World No.2 Nouran Gohar faces World No.3 Hania El Hammamy for a place in the final.

Gohar came out victorious in clashes against Finland’s Emilia Soini, Egypt’s Hana Moataz, USA’ Sabrina Sobhy and Egypt’s Nour El Tayeb to reach the semi-final stage.

El Hammamy overcame Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in the third round, who she has lost to in April’s London Classic final, before beating compatriot Rowan Elaraby in an exciting quarter-final encounter.

In their 22 previous clashes, Gohar has been the better off, winning 14 matches. Their most recent encounter came in the London Classic semi-final, where El Hammamy won 3-1 in a 62-minute clash.

Mostafa Asal v Paul Coll

giants live world tour finals 2023

In the final match of the evening, former World No.1s Mostafa Asal and Paul Coll face each other for the sixth time this season.

The Egyptian faced a difficult route to the semi-final, defeating Wales’ Joel Makin in the third round and World No.6 Mazen Hesham in the quarter-finals.

The New Zealander reached his fourth World Championships semi-final after a third-round win over Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng and England’s Mohamed ElShorbagy.

Asal narrowly leads the head-to-head record between the pair, winning on seven of the 13 meetings. Most recently, the two players met in the London Classic final, where Coll won due to a retirement from his opponent.

Giants Live 2023 World’s Strongest Man Tour Season Preview!

Barely has the festive season drawn to a close, and Britain’s Strongest Man – the first of six Giants Live contests scheduled for 2023 – is just three weeks away!

With Tom Stoltman’s incredible triumph at World’s Strongest Man still fresh in the mind, having been aired on Channel 5 on New Year’s Day, strongman fans need not wait long for their next dose of strength action.

giants live world tour finals 2023

In truth, World’s Strongest Man was held back in May, and the British strongmen who will be vying for victory in Sheffield’s Utilta Arena on January 28 th have been preparing for many weeks now, fine-tuning their preparations in readiness for their bid to capture the UK’s premier domestic title.

With Britain’s just round the corner, Giants Live have announced all six of their show dates. Tickets are now on sale for what promises to be another phenomenal year for the World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour.

giants live world tour finals 2023

As well as shattering a plethora of world records, the 2022 contests witnessed some exhilarating competition, including the emergence of some exciting new talent, as athletes such as Mitchell Hooper and Pavlo Nakonechnyy heralded the arrival of the next generation of strength superstars.

2023 promises to be no less entertaining and it will be fascinating to see how the more established athletes respond to the challenges laid down by the younger show winners of 2022.

World records will once again be under threat with both the Deadlift World Championships and the World Log lift Challenge being contested. In addition, it’s highly likely that revisions to the records in events such as the Nicol Stones, Axle Deadlift and Power Stairs will be made, amongst others!

And to finish off the 2023 season in style, The World’s Strongest Nation team showdown will return to Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, following the enormous success of the last year’s inaugural UK and USA head-to-head, which saw the Brits emerge victorious.

World's Strongest Nation 2022 results

If any further whetting of the appetite for strongman is needed, here is a short preview of what Giants Live have in store for each of 2023’s upcoming shows:

Britain’s Strongest Man 2023

  • When: 28 th January 2023
  • Where: Utilita Arena, Sheffield

The British Championships will be returning to the Steel City where it has resided since 2018 and three former champions will be hoping to claim their second title. 2020 victor, Adam Bishop, will be hoping to illustrate his full return to fitness following his triceps rupture, whilst 2019 winner, Graham Hicks will be many peoples favourite for the title following his 1,000lb deadlift in Cardiff last year.

giants live world tour finals 2023

Coming out of retirement at the ripe age of 42 will be Terry Hollands – the 2007 champion. Big Tel has been competing in bodybuilding over the last couple of years so has not strayed far from the weight room and feels he still has plenty to offer.

Also making his long-anticipated return to competition is Luke Richardson, the 2020 Europe’s Strongest Man winner. Luke ruptured his biceps tendon at the 2021 World’s Strongest Man finals and then re-tore the same tendon during his rehabilitation. Luke has experienced a great deal of frustration on his road to recovery and everyone in the sport will be wishing him well in his return to full competitive action.

giants live world tour finals 2023

Other competitors include UK’s Strongest Man, the pocket Hercules, Paul Smith, as well as Scotland’s Strongest Man, Louis Jack, Wales’s Strongest Man, Gavin “The Welsh Bull” Bilton and making his Giants Live debut, England’s Strongest Man, Ryan Bennett. Also making his debut will be Zale Muluzi, the “Malawian Monster” who will be representing Scotland and who finished runner-up in last year’s Scotland’s Strongest Man contest.

In recent days Ireland’s Pa O’Dwyer, last year’s runner-up, has been forced to withdraw due to injury, whilst Scotland’s Andy “The Bulldozer” Black has been confirmed to attend.

Europe’s Strongest Man 2023

  • When: 1 st April 2023
  • Where: First Direct Arena, Leeds

In what will be the 44 th edition of Europe’s Strongest Man, defending champion Oleksii Novikov will be returning to Leeds to attempt to retain his title. Hoping to upstage his fellow-countryman will be the 2022 Strongman Open champion, Pavlo Nakonechnyy of the Ukraine. The pair claimed three Giants Live titles between them last year and will take some beating at the First Direct Arena in April.

giants live world tour finals 2023

Former champion Luke Richardson will be leading the British charge and his chances of claiming a second title will hinge on his performance at Britain’s Strongest Man in late January.

Other notable confirmed attendees include Latvia’s Aivars Šmaukstelis who took his first Giants Live podium place at the 2022 World Tour Finals, finishing second behind winner Mitchell Hooper of Canada. Aivars is the current Strongman Champions League title holder and was also a 2020 World’s Strongest Man finalist, placing 8 th in Bradenton, Florida.

The Strongman Classic 2023

  • When: 8 th July 2023
  • Where: Royal Albert Hall, London

Seen as the jewel in the Giants Live crown, The Strongman Classic will be returning to its most iconic of venues – The Royal Albert Hall – for the third time in 2023. For sheer atmosphere and crowd proximity, this show cannot be topped!

Having twice podiumed in London, placing second in 2021 and third Last year, Evan Singleton will be hoping to complete his set of trophies with a win this year. The T-Rex suffered a few ups and downs in 2022, with injuries and health issues plaguing him in multiple contests and putting the breaks on what has otherwise been a tremendous upward trajectory in his progression in strongman since switching over from professional wrestling.

giants live world tour finals 2023

Fellow countryman Kevin Faires will also be flying the Stars and Stripes and will hope to record a third successive world record in an event that should perhaps be re-named the Faires Stones, rather than the Nicol Stones.

Standing in both their paths, from just across the US border will be “The Moose” Mitchell Hooper – arguably the most exciting new face in strongman, having exploded onto the scene in 2022, making the World’s Strongest Man final on his debut and winning the World Tour Finals, as well as taking second places at the World Open and Strongman Classic.

giants live world tour finals 2023

From much farther afield will be New Zealand’s Maori Warrior, Rongo Keene, who will be making his Giants Live debut. Rongo was the 2021 Magnús Ver Magnússon Strongman Classic winner and is a former Australia’s Strongest Man.

The Strongman Open 2023 & World Deadlift Championships

  • When: 2 nd September 2023
  • Where: Cardiff International Arena, Cardiff

Returning to Cardiff for only the second time, the Giants Live Strongman Open will once again play host to one of strongman’s most compelling events – the World Deadlift Championships!

Georgia’s Ivan Makarov, the man who has now twice pulled 505kg/1,113lb to his knees, will be hoping to make it third time lucky when he yet again attempts to break the deadlift world record. The 2021 Deadlift World Champion was forced to relinquish his title last year after being bested by Rauno Heinla who will also be in attendance in Cardiff. The Estonian triumphed last year with his astonishingly smooth master’s world record of 476kg/1,049lb pull.

giants live world tour finals 2023

The hometown hero, Gavin Bilton will be hoping to harness the huge support he receives to add kilos to his Welsh record. Last year, the “Welsh Bull” came agonisingly close to joining the 1,000lb (453.6kg) club after setting a new Welsh record of 425.5kg/938lb, with some ease.

A man whose invite will be much-anticipated by anyone who stays abreast of powerlifting and deadlifting in general, will be American Jamal Browner who at under 110kg (about 17-stone) has deadlifted 500kg/1,102lb in training. Jamal will be deadlifting using the conventional style, although his best lifts have been performed using the “sumo” stance, which unfortunately for him, is not allowed in strongman. Nevertheless, Browner has lifted a 432.5kg/953.5lb conventional deadlift, which was performed raw – without lifting straps!

World Tour Finals & World Log Lift Challenge 2023 – Return of the Stoltmans & Iron Biby!

  • When: 21 st October 2023
  • Where: OVO Hydro, Glasgow

For the very for first time, the World Log Lift Challenge will be incorporated into the World Tour Finals and will be held north of the border, in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2021 Iron Biby established the current world record of 229kg/505lb in the OVO Hydro, but only did so due to the fact he was unable to attend the actual contest, which was held in Leeds. He will return in 2023 to take another shot at the 230kg/507lb lift that narrowly eluded him in last year’s contest.

giants live world tour finals 2023

With Scotland’s Luke Stoltman – a man looked upon as one of the world’s best-ever log pressers – confirmed to attend, its perhaps not before time that the world’s best log lift contest was held in Scotland. Luke shared the title with Iron Biby last year but will be working hard to emerge victorious in front of his home crowd.

Returning to the Giants Live stage will be two-time World’s Strongest Man, Tom “The Albatross” Stoltman. Having last appeared at the 2022 Britain’s Strongest Man contest, which he won handsomely, the world’s best strongman’s appearance has been long awaited and he will be the hot favourite to take the title that was snatched from his grasp in 2021 by none other than his big brother Luke, after he uncharacteristically slipped-up in the Castle Stones.

giants live world tour finals 2023

Making the long trip from Australia will be Eddie Williams – the singing strongman who wowed audiences in Australia and America’s Got Talent. More that just a pretty voice, Williams will be looking to build on his 2022 successes and continue to establish himself as one of the world’s top strongmen.

  World’s Strongest Nation 2023

  • When: 18 th November 2023
  • Where: M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool

The season’s finale will see the second running of the World’s Strongest Nation at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena. This team contest is a big departure from the normal Giants Live contest format, in which male and female athletes representing the UK and USA will battle it out in eight events to decide which of the two nations is the world’s best.

giants live world tour finals 2023

Last year, Britain emerged victorious, but it was arguably the female athletes who stole the show with America’s Gaby Dixson grabbing the headlines after she achieved a truly astonishing 1:08.61 in the Hercules Hold – a time that bettered all the male competitor’s results, except the world record holder himself, Mark Felix.

Due to return as captains and lead their respective teams, will be “The Beast” and “The Dragon” – Britain’s Eddie Hall and America’s Martins Licis. Both men are former World’s Strongest Man winners, but it will be Licis and his All-American Heroes who will be smarting from their loss last year and desperate to turn the tables on the British Bulldogs this time around.
