The Fugees have a complex but impactful history. I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention. I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.
Wyclef quote:
As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement. We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together
The Score is one of the best-selling and most significant music albums of all time. Upon its release, it peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 charts and earned the group two Grammy Awards. Fugees were the first hip-hop group ever to be nominated for Album Of The Year, and the nomination also marked the second only rap album to be nominated for the top accolade as well at the time. With singles including “Killing Me Softly,” “Ready or Not,” and “Fu-Gee-La,” the highly acclaimed body of work has continued to inspire and stay in constant circulation with artists and fans alike. The seven-time platinum album has sold over 22 million copies worldwide and remains the best-selling album ever by a hip-hop group. As of 2021, the album is the fifth most-streamed rap album released in the 1990s on Spotify. The album is featured prominently on lists including Rolling Stones ’ “The 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time,” The Source ’s “100 Best Rap Albums,” Spin ’s “Top 90 Albums of the 90s,” Vibe ’s “100 Essential Albums of the 20th Century,” and more. There is no doubt the influence of the album continues to ripple throughout music and culture.

ABOUT FUGEES:
Though their heyday lasted for just five years and two albums, the Fugees were essentially a supergroup in reverse—a crew of crafty New Jersey MCs who, following their brief tenure together, would each go on to leave an indelible mark on the world of hip-hop. Debuting in the early ’90 as Tranzlator Crew, Lauryn Hill, her high-school friend Pras Michel, and his cousin Wyclef Jean eventually adopted the name Fugees, a shortened riff on “refugees” that nodded to the cousins’ shared Haitian-immigrant heritage. The trio’s simmering social conscience was on full display on 1994’s Blunted on Reality , which channeled the pugilistic spirit of East Coast contemporaries like Public Enemy and Onyx. However, the album’s acoustic-strummed outlier, “Vocab,” provided a glimpse of the Caribbean influences that would flourish on 1996’s The Score , whose Godfather -inspired cover art served as a Trojan Horse for a record that offered a soulful antidote to (and lyrical rebuke of) gangsta rap. With its heady fusion of boom-bap beats and chilled island vibes, The Score was the platform on which Hill emerged as the group’s undeniable star, alternating between swooning chorus hooks and take-no-prisoners rhymes atop an Enya sample on “Ready or Not,” and claiming the Roberta Flack classic “Killing Me Softly” as her own on a sitar-spun remake. A Grammy-winning, chart-topping, multi-plantinum phenomenon, The Score was the Fugees’ first and only hit record before the group disbanded, with Hill releasing her feminist-rap masterpiece, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill , in 1998, Pras dropping the pop-rap crossover smash “Ghetto Superstar” that same year, and the prolific Jean emerging as a figurehead for the globalized sound of rap in the 21st century. A brief reunion in 2005 yielded the atypically frantic single “Take It Easy,” but the Fugees will forever stand as a paragon of ‘90s rap at its most smooth and sophisticated.

Fugees Announce Reunion Tour
By Jazz Monroe
Ms. Lauryn Hill , Wyclef Jean , and Pras Michel have announced a Fugees reunion tour to celebrate 25 years of the classic album The Score . Their first shows together in 15 years will take them across the United States, through London and Paris, and into Nigeria and Ghana this November and December. Check out the 12 dates below. The group will also play a pop-up show at an undisclosed New York location tomorrow (September 22).
Fugees broke out with The Score in 1996, a wildly successful second album that made them household names with singles such as “Ready or Not” and “Killing Me Softly.” Over the next decade, the group hung together despite internal rifts, legal trouble, and solo sidelines—including Hill’s landmark, Grammy-sweeping Miseducation album—before conclusively splitting in 2006, at least in part due to romantic complications between Jean and Hill, according to Jean’s memoir. Pras Michel said in 2007 that there was “a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and [former President George W.] Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies,” than of his working with Hill again. In recent years, while Michel and Jean spoke of reconciliation, Hill remained tight-lipped on the prospect of a reunion—until now.
In a press release, Hill said: “The Fugees have a complex but impactful history…. I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
Jean added: “As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement. We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together.”

After a long hiatus, the Fugees are reuniting for the ‘Score’ anniversary tour
- Copy Link URL Copied!
Ready or not: The Fugees are reuniting Wednesday after a long break to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their landmark hip-hop album “The Score” with a private pop-up show in New York.
The location, however, has not yet been disclosed.
The trio — Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel — announced the intimate show Tuesday along with plans to embark on an international reunion tour to commemorate the milestone.
They’ll be reuniting onstage for the first time in 15 years to perform 12 shows. After kicking things off this week, the tour resumes Nov. 2 at the United Center in Chicago, followed by a concert at the Oakland Arena in Oakland on Nov. 7.
They come to Los Angeles on Nov. 12 for a performance at the Forum in Inglewood, then make stops in Atlanta; Miami; Newark, N.J.; Washington, D.C.; Paris; London; and cities in Nigeria and Ghana.
“The Fugees have a complex but impactful history,” Hill said in a statement, unaware that it was the album’s 25th anniversary until someone brought it to her attention. “I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
Fugees’ Big ‘Score’
What’s “The Score”?
April 14, 1996
The three continent-spanning events will be presented by Diaspora Calling and produced by Live Nation. The Fugees charitable fund will partner with poverty advocacy group Global Citizen to work on philanthropic initiatives around the tour, Live Nation said in a statement. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday.
“The Score,” the Fugees’ soulful 1996 studio album, was the group’s second and final LP. It included the hit “Ready or Not,” the catchy “Fu-Gee-La” and the Grammy-winning “Killing Me Softly,” a Hill-led cover of Roberta Flack’s iconic hit.
The seven-time platinum album also earned the Fugees a Grammy Award for rap album and marked the first time a hip-hop group was nominated for album of the year. (They lost to Celine Dion’s “Falling Into You.”)
Review: What does Lauryn Hill still hear in her ‘Miseducation’?
Lauryn Hill picked the right year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her debut solo album.
Sept. 19, 2018
“As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement,” Jean said in the band’s statement. “We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together.”
The New Jersey-bred act with Haitian roots was inspired by refugees. The members of the group rebuked gangster rap and blew up on the hip-hop scene with a smooth, sophisticated sound. But they stayed together only for five years, largely going their separate ways musically.
In 1998, Hill released the Grammy-winning, feminist-rap masterpiece “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” and Pras dropped the crossover smash “Ghetto Superstar.” In 1999, Jean won a Grammy for album of the year for his work on Carlos Santana’s “Supernatural.” His other hits include “Guantanamara” and “Hips Don’t Lie” with Shakira.
The trio briefly reunited in 2005 for the single “Take It Easy.”

Lauryn Hill and the Fugees to resume ‘The Miseducation’ anniversary tour
- Jun 26, 2024
Lauryn Hill and the Fugees are heading to the U.K. later this year.
The “ Ex-Factor ” singer — who postponed most of her remaining tour dates last year after battling “serious vocal strain” — will bring the “Miseducation Anniversary Tour” to the Co-Op Live arena in Manchester, England and The O2 in London this October. The tour kicks off on Aug. 8 in Tampa, Florida, and wraps up on Oct. 22 in Amsterdam.
Fans can expect a mix of tracks from her seminal 1998 solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill , as well as hits from the Fugees’ 1996 LP The Score , with bandmates Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel joining her on stage.
Before the postponement, Hill had been soldiering through each gig with prescribed medication to help her voice, but noted it was “detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time.” Consequently, she was forced to “take time off to allow for real vocal recovery.”
“I’d like to start this off by saying how much I’ve enjoyed being on the road, and how much I appreciate all of the fans who have come out to celebrate this incredible milestone anniversary and history-making reunion with us,” Hill shared on Instagram. “Being able to tour this album to sold-out crowds after 25 years has been an emotional experience! I’ve loved sharing the stage again with Wyclef and Pras. The Return of the Fugees has been powerful and amazing — those who’ve witnessed it can testify. The tour itself reminds us, the artists, and the audiences alike of earlier, perhaps less complicated times when ‘It could all be so simple …’ or ‘Ready Or Not, here I come!’ were on repeat on the airwaves. Simply put, classic. Classic music, classic performances with audiences who love those classics has been nothing but … wait for it … EPIC. (I almost said classic again!)”
“As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month.” Hill continued. “I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time. In order to prevent any long-term negative effects on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely.”
“For this reason, we have to reschedule most of the remaining shows this year. The shows that were canceled this year will be rescheduled for early 2024 AND because of the overwhelming response, we’ll be adding new cities to the tour, including overseas,” she said.
“We’re working on the new calendar now, and announcing soon,” Hill concluded.

Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel surprise-announced that the Fugees will take to the stage in their first world tour in 25 years.

UPDATED 10/30, 6 p.m. ET: Fans will have to wait a little longer for the much-anticipated Fugees reunion tour that was set to officially kick off Nov. 2.
On Friday, the legendary hip-hop group announced the Score Reunion World Tour would not take place this fall, as originally planned, and instead be pushed to early 2022.
“Dates for our upcoming Fugees 25 th Anniversary Tour are moving to early 2022 to ensure the best chance that all cities on the tour will be fully open so we can perform for as many fans as possible,” their announcement read. “With so much excitement around the reunion tour, we are also happy to announce that we will be adding more cities and dates! Full details coming soon along with some SPECIAL announcements!”

The Fugees launched their reunion with a Sept. 22 pop-up NYC show in tandem with Global Citizen Live; read our review here . Their international run was set to launch Nov. 2 in Chicago and hit six more U.S. cities before heading to Paris, London, Nigeria, and finally, on Dec. 18, Ghana.
See original story below.
Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel of the Fugees announced today that they plan to take to the stage for their first world tour in 25 years.
The surprise announcement of the trio’s reunion after 15 years apart is meant to celebrate the 25 th anniversary of their 1996 masterpiece The Score. The 12-city international tour kicks off Sept. 22 with a surprise pop-up show in New York City at a secret location in support of Global Citizen Live. The tour will then officially get going in Chicago on Nov. 2, and from there will stop in Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, Paris, London, and other cities before concluding with two concerts in Nigeria and Ghana.
The reunion of the legendary group is significant, in part because of the inner personal and legal turmoil that ultimately led to the group splitting in 2006. Pras Michel—who seems to be allowed to tour despite facing criminal charges of campaign finance violations in connection to the 2012 U.S. Presidential race— said in 2007 that there was “a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and [President George W.] Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies” than seeing him work alongside Lauryn Hill again.
In a new press release, Hill said the Fugees no doubt “have a complex but impactful history,” and that this reunion was meant to “set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
With his own statement, Wyclef echoed these sentiments. “As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement,” he wrote. “We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together.”

The Fugees reunite for a tour to celebrate The Score 's 25th anniversary
The group's 12-date world tour begins on september 22.
Back in 2007, Pras Michael told All Hip Hop that there’d be a “better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and George W. Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies, before there will be a Fugees reunion.” He added that it’d take “an act of God to change [ Lauryn Hill ].” A lot has changed since then—to say the least—because now The Fugees are reuniting for the 25th anniversary of The Score .
This surprise reunion tour kicks off immediately, with the first show being on Wednesday, September 22 in an undisclosed location in New York City that’s described in the press release as “an intimate pop-up.” The rest of the tour begins on November 22, including stops in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Washington, D.C., London, Paris, and Nigeria. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 24.

In a statement, Hill said: "The Fugees have a complex but impactful history. I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention. Wyclef, meanwhile, added: "As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement. We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together."
Fugees released two albums, 1994's Blunted on Reality and The Score . “Killing Me Softly,” “Ready or Not,” and “Fu-Gee-La" all feature on The Score . Ready or not: Fugees kick-off 25th anniversary tour with surprise show in NYC at Global Citizen Live
Ready or not, here (they) come. The iconic hip-hop group Fugees are reuniting for their first world tour in 25 years.
The group's upcoming 12-city reunion tour will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Fugees' — Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel — Grammy-winning sophomore album "The Score," according to a press release from their reps.
The tour launched Wednesday with "an intimate pop-up show" in New York City's Pier 17 for Global Citizen Live. Attendees were only able to score tickets with an online raffle and heard the group perform their hits including "The Score," "Killing Me Softly" and "Ready or Not."
"The Fugees came out with a ten piece band. Full horn section, backup singers. Beautiful chaos. Clef tried to get Lauryn to do a freestyle but she told the story of how they met instead," Vulture's music critic Craig Jenkins tweeted.
"As soon as she touched the stage I caught that good art chill! Fugees 25th anniversary preview was special," another user tweeted.
The Fugees' performance, their first live show in 15 years, is set to air across platforms — ABC, FX, Apple TV, YouTube — on Sept. 25.
Released in 1996, "The Score," with its "heady fusion of boom-bap beats and chilled island vibes," spawned the No. 1 R&B/hip-hop single " Killing Me Softly " and has sold seven million copies to date in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America , and 22 million copies worldwide.
Following Global Citizen Live, the tour resumes Nov. 2 in Chicago and will continue in major cities including Los Angeles, Miami, Paris and London. The tour will conclude in Africa with shows in Nigeria and Ghana.

Fugees got their start in the early '90s as "a crew of crafty New Jersey MCs:" Hill, Michel and Jean. Originally known as Tranzlator Crew, the group adopted the name Fugees, an abbreviation of "refugees,'' which referenced Michel and Jean’s shared Haitian-immigrant background.
Hill would eventually have a breakout solo career with the release of her 1998 debut album, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill," which has sold 10 million copies in the U.S. to date, according to RIAA .
"The Fugees have a complex but impactful history," Hill said in a statement about the upcoming world tour. "I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention. I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved and set an example of reconciliation for the world."

Jean also found solo success, carving out his own lane in "the globalized sound of rap in the 21st century." His collaboration with Colombian pop star Shakira, "Hips Don’t Lie," peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2006.
"As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music – we would be a movement," Jean said in a statement. "We would be a voice for the unheard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again that God has brought us together."
Tickets for the tour go on presale Wednesday via Spotify, Live Nation and Ticketmaster. They go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday to the general public.

The Score represents a snapshot of Fugees’ brief but brilliant reign atop the music world. After first coming together as Tranzlator Crew as high school students in New Jersey, the group signed to Columbia Records imprint Ruffhouse in 1993 and changed their name to “Fugees”—short for “refugees”—reappropriating a word typically used to Haitian-Americans in a derogatory manner.
Fugees released their debut, Blunted on Reality , in 1994 and returned with The Score two years later. The sophomore album quickly exploded in popularity, eventually picking up a pair of Grammy Awards in 1997 (for the album as a whole as well as for “Killing Me Softly”) and going Platinum seven times over.
While The Score remains one of the most influential hip-hop records of the era, the remainder of the Fugees story has been marked by hostility . While the group didn’t officially break up, all three members began working on solo projects in 1997. Hill’s seminal solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill , was released the following year.
The group famously reunited onstage in 2004 to perform as part of Dave Chappelle’s Block Party , and rode that momentum through a brief 2005 reunion for a short set at the BET Music Awards , a few scattered tour dates, and a lone single (“Take It Easy”), but creative disputes over new material and other intra-band conflicts prompted the Fugees to disband once again in 2006.
The band did not leave things on good terms. As Wyclef told Blues & Soul in 2007, “I feel the first issue that needs to be addressed is that Lauryn needs help… In my personal opinion, those Fugees reunion shows shouldn’t have been done, because we wasn’t ready. I really felt we shoulda first all gone into a room with Lauryn and a psychiatrist… But, you know, I do believe Lauryn can get help. And, once she does work things out. Hopefully a proper and enduring Fugees reunion will happen.”
With the 2021 tour marking 25 years of The Score , the Fugees members hope to bury the hatchet and celebrate the timeless music they made together.
In a press statement along with the announcement, Hill said, “The Fugees have a complex but impactful history. I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention. I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
Jean added, “As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music, we would be a movement. We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together.”

If all you got from that album was a “Roberta flack rip off”, then please, please clean out your ears and open your mind
Find me in my Mitsubishi eating sushi rocking fugees
Your comment makes no sense. Roberta loves their version and has shared a stage with them. 25 years later and still a great and relevant album. Their music so why can’t they make some money off it? I’m sure it’ll be a sold out tour.
If you think this tour is going to sell out at $1000 per ticket ( and that is NOT counting plats or meet and greets ) then you are the biggest moron going. Tour will be cancelled.
It’s been 25 years since we ripped off Roberta Flack? Well, shit, let’s get together and wring that shit for a few bucks!

ORIGINAL STORY (Sept. 21): The Fugees shocked the hip-hop world on Tuesday (Sept. 21) with the announcement of an international reunion tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their landmark 1996 album The Score . The outing will bring Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel together for the first time in 15 years for 12 shows presented by Diaspora Calling and produced by Live Nation.
Not wasting any time, the tour kicks off on Wednesday (Sept. 22) with what a release promised will be an intimate show in New York City at an as-yet-undisclosed location. The dates will then pick up with a Nov. 2 gig at the United Center in Chicago, followed by a concert at the Oakland Arena in Oakland, California on Nov. 7, as well as dates in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, Newark, Washington, D.C., Paris, London, Nigeria and Ghana.
Here's Why Lauryn Hill Never Made Another Album After 'Miseducation'
The Score , the Fugees’ second and final studio album, hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and scored hits with the indelible singles “Killing Me Softly,” “Fu-Gee-La” and “Ready or Not”; the collection won the Grammy for best rap album and another for best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals for “Killing.”
“The Fugees have a complex but impactful history. I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention,” Hill said in a statement of Score , the best-selling album ever by a hip-hop group (at a reported 22 million copies worldwide) and the first by a rap group to be nominated for an album of the year Grammy. “I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
The group has teamed up with charitable partner Global Citizen for as-yet-unspecified philanthropic initiatives around the tour, with tickets slated to go on sale to the general public beginning Friday (Sept. 24) at 10 a.m. local time here . Global Citizen announced on Monday that the group’s first public performance will be in support of Global Citizen Live , a planet-wide broadcast calling on world leaders to defend the planet and defeat poverty that will air on Sept. 25 and feature performances on seven continents broadcast for 24 hours across dozens of media platforms; more information on Global Citizen Live can be found here .
Information on tickets to Wednesday’s show will be disclosed to fans who’ve earned tickets by taking action. Click here for details on earning a chance to attend the Fugees show.
After splitting in 1998, the Fugees reunited in 2004 for Dave Chappelle’s Block Party concert film, came back together the next year for a 12-minute medley to open the 2005 BET Awards and played their final show in Feb. 2006 at a free gig for fans in Hollywood.

The Fugees Have Officially Cancelled Their Reunion Tour
“We see now it may not currently be our time for revisiting this past work.”
The Fugees reunion tour has officially been cancelled.
After postponing a majority of the dates three days before the tour was set to kick off in November 2021, the legendary hip-hop trio have now scrapped the endeavor altogether, citing the on-going pandemic which has made “touring conditions difficult.”
In a statement, the Fugees wrote: “We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen. The continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe. An idea sparked to honor and celebrate this 25th anniversary of The Score but we see now it may not currently be our time for revisiting this past work. We’re grateful for the special night we did get to share with some of you in New York, with that rare live moment. If opportunity, public safety and scheduling allow, we hope to be able to revisit this again sometime soon. THANK YOU for all your love and support throughout the years.”
The reunion tour, which would’ve seen the landmark group together on stage for the first time in 15 years, was originally slated to kick off in earnest in November 2021, and hit major cities throughout the U.S. before hopping abroad for performances in Paris, London, Nigeria and Ghana.
The band did reunite briefly for one surprise show in New York City on Sept. 22, however the trio soon pushed all remaining dates to 2022 — though, obviously, that’s all a no-go now.
The trio’s initial impetus for reuniting was to mark the 25th anniversary of The Score , the 1996 landmark album from the group.
Of the anniversary, Ms. Lauryn Hill originally wrote in a press statement: “The Fugees have a complex but impactful history. I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention. I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
Wyclef Jean added: “As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement. We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together.”
The Score was released in 1996 as Fugees’ second and final studio album. The project, which remains a watershed project from the group and hip-hop as a whole, produced a slew of hit singles, including “Ready Or Not,” “Killing Me Softly,” “Fu-Gee-La,” and more. The group disbanded soon after in 1997 in a messy and complicated break-up. The trio last performed live together in 2006 for a slew of reunion shows.

The Fugees cancel reunion tour celebrating The Score 25th anniversary
The Grammy-winning hip-hop group of Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, and Pras posted a statement saying the pandemic has forced them to postpone their upcoming worldwide shows.
The Fugees will no longer embark on their much-anticipated reunion tour.
On Friday, the Grammy-winning hip-hop group of Wyclef Jean , Lauryn Hill , and Pras posted a statement that read, "We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen. The continued COVID pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe."
The post went on to explain how they were excited to build the tour around the 25th anniversary of their highly acclaimed 1996 album, The Score , which features the hits "Killing Me Softly" and "Ready or Not," but that they had to reconsider their plans.
"We see now it may not currently be our time for revisiting this past work," it read.
The trio also referenced their September 2021 comeback concert , the first show they'd done together in 15 years. "We're grateful for the special night we did get to share with some of you in New York, with that rare live moment," they wrote, concluding that they hope to reschedule their reunion tour soon.

Fugees completely cancel ‘The Score’ 25th anniversary reunion tour
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has made touring conditions difficult for the legendary group
Fugees have announced that they’ve had to cancel their long-awaited reunion tour.
The hugely influential hip-hop group – Ms. Lauryn Hill , Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel – announced in September last year that they would reunite for a 2021 world tour celebrating 25 years of their classic 1996 album ‘The Score’.
In October, the group announced that they would be rescheduling the tour’s original run of dates to 2022 in order to ensure “the best chance that all cities on the tour will be fully open” following some of them being restricted due to COVID measures being put in place.
Today (January 21), however, the New Jersey trio informed fans that the tour won’t be going ahead at all due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen,” the Fugees wrote in a statement shared to social media. “The continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe.
“And idea sparked to honour and celebrate this 25th anniversary of The Score but we see now it may not currently be our time for revisiting this past work, We’re grateful for the special night we did get to share with some of you in New York, with that rare live moment.”
The group concluded: “If opportunity, public safety, and scheduling allow, we hope to be able to revisit this again sometime soon. THANK YOU for all your love and support throughout the years.”

The series of worldwide arena shows were set to begin last November including a show scheduled for December 6 at The O2 in London.
Ahead of the tour kicking off, the Fugees gave fans a taste of what they could expect with a special pop-up show at The Rooftop at Pier 17 venue in New York City on September 22.
At the show, the trio played a nine-song set featuring a host of tracks from ‘The Score’ as well as their famous version of Lori Lieberman’s ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song’ and Bob Marley & The Wailers classic ‘No Woman, No Cry’, which closed the set.
“The Fugees have a complex but impactful history,” Ms. Lauryn Hill said of the group in a statement at the time of the reunion announcement. “I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention.
“I decided to honour this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
Prior to the tour’s scheduled kick-off, it was reported that the international dates could potentially have been in jeopardy due to an ongoing legal case involving band member Pras .

American hip-hop group The Fugees have canceled their anticipated reunion tour due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement shared to their Instagram, the group — which consists of Wyclef Jean, Pras Michel and Lauryn Hill — announced that despite the anticipated disappointment, “our anniversary tour will not be able to happen.”
“The continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe,” the statement reads. “If opportunity, public safety and scheduling allow, we hope to be able to revisit this again sometime soon.”

In addition to thanking fans for their support throughout the years, the statement also acknowledged how “grateful” the band was to be able to perform their intimate pop-up show, a “rare live moment” which took place in New York City on Sept. 22 at Pier 17 for Global Citizen Live. Attendees, who heard the group’s hits like “The Score,” “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not,” had to score tickets through an online raffle. It was the group’s first live show in 15 years.

The Fugees 12-city tour, which had been rescheduled from November, was slated to begin on March 2 in Chicago, ending in Oakland on March 29.
The group, originally known as Tranzlator Crew, was formed in the early ’90s and changed their name to Fugees — an abbreviation of “refugees” — as a nod to several of the group members’ immigrant backgrounds.
Their 1996 album, The Score , delivered the famed single “Killing Me Softly,” and has, according to the Recording Industry Association of America , since sold 7 million copies in the U.S., with 22 million copies worldwide.
One day earlier, Adele rescheduled her Las Vegas residency that was set to kick off Jan. 21 due to COVID complications, including delivery delays and crewmembers testing positive for the virus. “We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID,” the singer explained in a tearful video to fans.
