Hello Cruise Fans!

Today we are going to combine two different passions: the one for cruises and the one for Disney . As you may have guessed, we are going to see all Disney Cruise Line ships from the newest to the oldest .

I want to tell you right away that Disney does not have many ships , at the moment there are only 5 but several will be added in the coming years.

Below is a summary chart , and then a more detailed description of each ship.

Disney Treasure (2024)

Disney Treasure is the new upcoming cruise ship by Disney Cruise Line . It is set to be launched on December 21, 2024 .

Although it will be the newest ship, it seems that Disney doesn’t want to increase the size much. It will have a gross tonnage of 144,000 GT and will measure 1,119 feet in length and 128 feet in width .

According to the first reports, it will be able to accommodate about 4,000 passengers and will have about 1,250 cabins .

As the name suggests, it will be inspired by the theme of adventure and pirates. I will give you more detailed news as soon as the ship officially starts sailing!

Disney Wish (2022)

Disney Wish was officially launched in 2022 and is the newest ship currently in service. With this ship, Disney changed the design idea slightly compared to the previous ones.

On “Wish” the traditional structure that divided the ship into zones was officially abandoned. Instead, all the spaces for kids, families, and adults are harmoniously integrated across several decks .

For example, kids’ zones, such as the innovative Oceaneer Club , are located on Deck 2, while adult areas are spread across decks 3, 4, and 5.

What about the cabins? On Disney Wish, they are quite spacious and well-equipped. You can find the traditional murphy beds and Disney’s signature split-bath arrangement.

The internal decor varies by deck and category. Of course, the main focus remains the artworks inspired by Disney movies.

The dining selection is very varied. There are many themed restaurants and a big buffet that is perfect for both adults and children.

The pool deck has six family pools and the AquaMouse , a first-of-its-kind water attraction at sea. We already talked about it in the article about the biggest water slides on cruises .

Disney Fantasy (2012)

Disney Fantasy was the second Dream-class ship in Disney’s fleet.

Was launched in 2012 with the idea of offering a magical cruise experience for families, especially those with young children.

The overall design remains the same, compared to the previous ships. A navy blue hull, two bright red funnels, and the inside inspired by elegant Art Deco decorations.

The real difference lies in the unique technological innovations. For example, onboard you will find “ Enchanted Art ” pieces that recognize a guest’s presence and activate for several seconds of animation.

Moreover, inside cabins, you can wave phones to communicate with other guests, and some magical portholes provide real-time views of the ship’s surroundings.

On Disney Fantasy there are also 15 unique restaurants. A very interesting thing is that there’s a rotating dining system that allows guests to experience different themed restaurants each night.

In terms of entertainment, there’s something for every age. The ship features phenomenal kids’ clubs, like the Marvel Super Hero Academy and the Star Wars Command Post .

While, for adults, the ship offers plenty of spaces and activities, including wine tastings, late-night dancing, and adults-only pools.

This ship sails primarily to the Caribbean, with itineraries that include stops at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay .

Disney Dream (2011)

Disney Dream was the third ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet and was officially launched in 2011 .

This ship is particularly renowned for its restaurants, It offers engaging dinner shows and high-quality food , particularly at Remy.

The Disney Dream stands out also for its wonderful design details , such as the hidden Mickeys scattered throughout the ship.

The ship also has a 1,340-seat capacity “ Walt Disney Theatre ” where different Disney shows are performed: Disney’s Believe, Golden Mickeys, Villains Tonight, and Beauty and the Beast, all of which are must-sees.

Other entertainment options, that are also perfect for adults, include first-run Disney movies at the Buena Vista Theatre, a variety of sports activities, and a well-equipped Fitness Center. Adults also have exclusive areas such as a pool, sun deck, and an adult-only restaurant.

Disney Dream itineraries primarily include the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean , with Fort Lauderdale serving as the departure port for most of the sailings.

Disney Wonder (1999)

Disney Wonder was the second ship in Disney’s fleet. Its maiden voyage was in 1999, making it over two decades old .

Despite being a rather old ship, it is still well-maintained and has features that make it unique.

For example, an exclusive on Disney Wonder is Tiana’s Place , a Creole-themed restaurant inspired by The Princess and the Frog .

Like any other Disney ship, the entertainment options are many and all of them are perfectly themed. You will find family-friendly trivia, quizzes, and character encounters during the “Meet and Waves” sessions with Disney characters.

There are about 875 cabins on this ship with a good mix of interior, oceanview, and balcony cabins, as well as concierge-class suites.

Dining on Disney Magic is one of the best things ever. For example, you will experience the “magical dining experience” at Animator’s Palate , a restaurant that starts out black and white and becomes colorful while you eat dinner.

On Disney Magic, there’s also the themed restaurant Rapunzel’s Royal Table, inspired by the beloved character from the animated movie “ Tangled “.

For families, Disney Magic provides an exceptional kids’ club , character cameos, and a range of water slides and pools that ensure endless fun.

As we saw on the newest ship, on Disney Magic there are also many spaces for adults like an adult-only pool, bars, and a well-equipped spa.

Disney Cruise Line has currently 5 cruise ships in its fleet. The oldest one (Disney Magic) was launched in 1998 and the newest one (Disney Wish) was launched in 2022.

A new ship is currently under construction and is expected to launch at the end of 2024 .

Moreover, two other ships are currently under construction and are planned to launch in 2025. They will be Disney Adventure , which will probably be based in Singapore, and Disney Destiny which will probably be based in the US.

Disney Dream

Disney Dream was the first Dream class ship and entered service in 2011. It was the cruise ship to feature an aqua coaster on the top deck. It is 129,960 gross tons in size and carries up to 4,000 passengers. The bow, atrium, and aft characters are Captain Mickey, Admiral Donald, and Sorcerer Mickey.

Disney Wonder

Disney Wonder entered service in 1999 as the second ship in Disney’s fleet. The 84,000 gross tons ship carries up to 2,700 passengers in 875 staterooms. The bow, atrium, and aft characters are Steamboat Willie, Ariel, Donald and Nephews.

Disney Magic

Disney Magic was Disney Cruise Line’s very first cruise ship. The vessel entered service in 1998 and the 84,000 gross ton ship carries up to 2,700 guests. The bow, atrium, and aft characters are Sorcerer Mickey, Helmsman Mickey, and Goofy.

Disney Cruise Line currently has three more cruise ships that will be added to their fleet over the next few years. Two of the cruise ships will be sister ships to Disney Wish. Disney Treasure will debut in 2024 and an unnamed vessel in 2025.

Also in in 2025, Disney Cruise Line will be adding their largest cruise ship to their fleet. The cruise line recently purchased the massive 208,000 gross ton Global Dream that is 75% completed. Disney will modify and finish the ship before it enters service in a few years.

Having launched its first ship in 1998 Disney Cruise Lines is undergoing a period of rapid expansion which will see them have eight cruise ships sailing by 2025.

This is particularly impressive when you think that in early 2022 they only had four ships in the fleet. To double in size in just over three years is a major accomplishment in the cruise industry.

There are four classes of Disney ships:

All of the ships have a very distinctive exterior design.

The two-funnel, very classic-looking design was inspired by the luxury cruise liners of the past.

You can even see the attention to detail that Disney is famous for in the careful choice of colors for the exterior of the ship.

To show just how committed to the design aesthetic DCL is they had to get special permission from the US Coast Guard to have yellow-colored lifeboats.

Cruise ships generally have orange lifeboats but Disney wanted the colors to be inspired by Mickey Mouse.

The real surprise addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet is Disney Adventure. She was around 75% finished,and named Global Dream when her original owner went bankrupt.

The Global Dream was almost sold for scrap, but this $1 billion ship was purchased at a very discounted price which some say was as little as 40 million Euros.

She will not be ready until 2025 as she will undergo a reimagining of the design.

This huge ship is going to be one of the largest in the world and will be sailing from her home port of Singapore when she is launched sometime in 2025.

Disney Treasure will sail 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral.

She will have two restaurants in common with her sister ship, but a new restaurant, Plaza de Coco. This restaurant is themed after the Disney Pixar movie Coco.

We can see from the concept art that the colors in the Grand Hall will be darker than those on the Wish.

The statue in the Grand Hall will feature Jasmine, Aladdin, and Magic Carpet.

To appreciate just how large this new Disney ship will be, the original owner was envisaging a capacity of up to 9,500 passengers.

Introduction to Disney Cruise Line

Before Disney Cruise Line became its own entity, Disney actually tried to work with both Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean. However, nothing really came of this and so in 1994 Disney had their first cruise ship plans drawn up.

Disney announced their first cruises would start in 1998 and commissioned familiar cruise shipbuilder, Fincantieri in Italy to build their first two cruise ships ( Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ).

In July 1998, Disney Magic performed the first maiden voyage for the cruise line – sailing from their homeport of Port Canaveral, Florida.

By 2005, Disney was using Los Angeles as their summer homeport for their ships and the gaining popularity of them was outstripping their capacity.

In 2007, they announced the building of two new cruise ships – Disney Dream , which launched in January 2011 and Disney Fantasy which started operations in 2012.

More recently, in 2016 Disney announced a new class of cruise ship – the Triton-class, which would be used for two new upcoming cruise ships. A third ship was added to the order book in 2017 and the first ship of the class, Disney Wis h is expected to join the Disney fleet in July 2022.

What does ‘tonnage (grt)’ mean.

GRT (Gross Registered Tonnage) is a term used to calculate the volume inside a ship. It is a measure of cubic capacity and is calculated by the total volume from inside the hull and decks of the ship. 1 GRT = 100 cubic feet of space. In essence, the bigger the GRT – the more ‘space’ the ship has for passengers, cargo, etc.

How are ‘Passengers (Max)’ calculated?

You’ll see multiple numbers for passengers on ships – this is because many ships include extra beds in cabins (such as the sofa/couch can convert to a pull-out bed) – but the majority of cabins usually have 2 people in them. the ‘Max’ number is if every cabin used their additional pull-out bed, etc. This number is unlikely to be reached very frequently.

Yes, all Disney cruise ships are brand new builds and purpose-built for Disney Cruise Line.

As Disney has exceptionally high standards you can guess that they would not be happy with taking on an older ship and converting it to their standard.

Therefore, they build each ship to their exact specification. However, they do use the same cruise shipbuilder as other lines such as Carnival and MSC Cruises use, which is Fincantieri in Italy.

On July 14th, 2022 Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Wish, set out on her maiden voyage. After 10 long years, the Disney Cruise Line’s new ship usurped the Disney Fantasy as the newest Disney Cruise ship. The new Disney Wish cruise ship is a brand new state-of-the-art cruise liner that is currently sailing passengers to Nassau, Bahamas & Disney Castaway Cay. If you’re unfamiliar with Castaway Cay , this is Disney’s private island in the Bahamas exclusively occupied by passengers of the Disney Cruise Line. But the title for the new Disney Cruise Line ship won’t be held for long! There are 3 additional ships on order and will set sail periodically over the next 2-3 years. DCL currently has 3 classes of ships in operation. The Magic Class consists of Disney Magic and Disney Disney Wonder. The Dream Class includes the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy. And finally, the newest Disney ships class, the Triton Class. This class contains the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and another yet-to-be-named ship.

Since setting sail in 1998, Disney has been slowly adding D isney Cruise Line new ships to their fleet. As we mentioned above, in true Disney fashion, the company’s cruise line has reinvented the cruise line game by doing something most cruise lines aren’t able to do. Important to Know : The Disney Wish is the largest ship in the entire DCL fleet . Being the current title holder of D isney’s new cruise ships , the Wish is currently sailing from the Disney Cruise Line’s home port, Port Canaveral, Florida. Its current ports of call include Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney Castaway Cay. This is also the first Disney cruise ship to have an attraction on board! With the introduction of the Aqua-mouse water ride, Disney was able to bring a mix of rides at the Disney Parks to the high seas! Important to Know : Something to note about the Disney fleet is that all of its classes are identical ships. This of course is in terms of the actual structure and layout of the ship. This is the case with Disney Fantasy as it’s the sister ship to the Disney Dream. Each ship will be distinguished by its theme and characters throughout the ship. The Fantasy for example has Dumbo and Timothy Q. Mouse on the bow and Mademoiselle Minnie in the Atrium. This is the first Disney cruise ship to prominently feature Minnie Mouse onboard the ship’s design! The Fantasy is also the only ship designed in an Art Nouveau style with a notable peacock flourish both on the ceiling and on the floor.

Important to Know : While I have sailed on the Wish, I am impartial to the Disney Dream since it was the first cruise I had ever sailed on. And there’s nothing bad that I can say about this ship! While the rooms are not as up-to-date, everything about the Disney Dream is spectacular. One of the highlights of this ship is its original Broadway-style show adaption of the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast. And you don’t have to take my word for it! This production has won numerous awards and was the only and first Disney Cruise Line ship to win the Best Theatrical Performance Award!

What is the New Disney Ship Going to be Called?

The second ship on order from the Triton Class of ships is going to be named the Disney Treasure! Of the D isney Cruise Lines, new ships in this class will be the sister ship to the Disney Wish which was the first ship in the Triton Class. In September 2022, Disney Cruise Line announced the next ship in their fleet, the Disney Treasure, at the D23 Expo. The ship will be inspired by the theme of adventure, with the Grand Hall inspired by the grandeur and mystery of a gilded palace which draws on inspiration from real-world Asia and Africa, as well as paying homage to Agrabah. There is little known about this ship but we know it’s not the last!

Important to Know : While little is known about D isney’s newest cruise ship , we know a few things that have been announced so far. It will be the new Disney Wish cruise ship’s sister ship. Something else groundbreaking for Disney Cruise Line with the Triton Class of ships is that there will be more than two ships in this class! Historically, there have only ever been two ships released per class with the Disney Fleet. On July 15, 2017, at the D23 Expo, it was announced there will be a third ship released for sailings in 2025!

Disney Cruise Ships by Age

Disney has one of the oldest fleets in the cruise industry. DCL’s first vessel, Disney Magic , launched in 1998, shortly followed by Disney Wonder in 1999.

Though most cruise lines strive to innovate with new cruise ships released yearly, Disney seems to have taken a more traditional route. Their ships strongly focus on classic fun for the whole family, with the familiar splash of Disney magic you expect to find from the “House of Mouse.”

However, that is changing with the addition of Disney Wish in 2022. Wish became the first new cruise ship for the line in ten years. The new ship introduced many new thrills, including Cinderella’s Castle at Sea, Worlds of Marvel’s cinematic dining experience, Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, A reimagined kids club, and clever new uses of technology to bring magic to “passengers.”

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship is gearing up to set sail for its maiden voyage and it’s sooner than we originally thought! The Disney Adventure ship will be one of the latest additions to the ever-growing fleet of Disney cruise ships and Disney’s teasing us with some new information about it!

Late last year Disney announced the name of this new ship along with details about where this ship would call home. It’s set to sail out of Singapore starting in 2025 after it’s finished being constructed in Germany.

On board, visitors will be treated to even more MARVEL, Pixar, and of course Disney stories to explore! The teaser that Disney Cruise Line dropped shows pixie dust surrounding both sides of the ship as the golden detailed touches are added…

…and we catch a glimpse of Captain Mickey , who will become the bow’s character design on the front of the Disney Adventure!

The teaser wraps up with a zoomed-out look of what the Disney Adventure ship will look like from the front once it’s ready to set sail and reiterates that the sailings will take place out of Singapore starting in 2025.

While Disney has not announced an exact date just yet for sailings, future itineraries, or anything else, we’re hopeful that more details will be announced sooner rather than later (mainly because we can’t WAIT to see the rest of this ship)!

The Disney Adventure is just one of 3 new ships coming with the latest announced Disney Cruise Line expansion. This new lineup will see the addition of the Disney Treasure , Disney Adventure, and Disney Destiny soon. The Disney Treasure’s layout, which we already knew, will be very similar to the most recent ship to sail with Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Wish. This leads us to the understanding that the Disney Adventure and Disney Destiny may share similar layouts too as sister ships with varying features, themed dining, and more to differentiate the two.

FIRST LOOK at Disney Cruise Line’s Newest Ship — The Disney Adventure

All hands on deck! Disney has just revealed the FIRST LOOK at their newest cruise ship!

Disney Cruise Line has been going full steam ahead with expanding its one-of-a-kind experiences. The Disney Treasure is expected to set sail for its maiden voyage on December 21, 2024, and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point , the newest private island destination for cruise ship passengers, will welcome its first guests this summer. And to top it all off with a heavy dose of vitamin sea, Disney has finally revealed a first look at their newest cruise ship joining the family: The Disney Adventure ! And of course, we got you covered with all the need-to-know info.

Setting sail to Singapore in 2025, The Disney Adventure is Disney’s newest and seventh ship and is a part of the Disney Cruise Line. Although Disney has kept much of their construction details under wraps, sources say that it is expected to be the largest ship in the Disney fleet and one of the largest ships globally as it has a passenger capacity of around 6,000 and accommodations for 2,300 crew members! That’s a sea-riously big boat!

Setting Sail With Disney Cruise Line

The ship’s design will likely follow the Disney tradition of blending modern amenities with the classic Disney charm we know and love, and we’re certain it will share in its sister ships’ tradition of having unique dining and entertainment experiences. And with the guarantee of having more Marvel, Pixar, and classic Disney stories on board, we are shore that it will be unforgettable! Ever since its announcement in November 2022, we have been excitedly awaiting more information on this new ship and the time has finally arrived as Disney has shared an exclusive look at the ship’s bow.

Disney has revealed that in its tradition of selecting a Disney character to feature on each of their cruise ships’ bow, the Disney Adventure will have none other than Captain Mickey himself displayed proudly, leading the vessel onward to its magical journeys! This first look has us even more excited (if that’s even possible) for the ship’s inauguration and we are seated for all the newest details that will surely follow suit in these upcoming months before the official announcement of the the Disney Adventure’s journey!

Disney Cruise Line Reveals Disney Adventure Captain Mickey Bow Art

Disney Cruise Line has revealed the bow art for the Disney Adventure, which will set sail from Singapore in 2025.

The Disney Adventure is the first Disney Cruise Line ship to sail from Singapore and throughout Southeast Asia. Disney purchased the ship previously known as the Global Dream to complete and transform into a Disney Cruise Line vessel .

The Disney Treasure will launch this winter, with Captain Minnie on its bow .
