Putting a 21st century spin on the hip late-'60s world of Burt Bacharach, Sly Stone, and Barbarella, Copenhagen, Denmark multi-instrumentalist Lars Iversen and vocalist Mette Lindberg formed the Asteroids Galaxy Tour in 2007. After opening for Amy Winehouse (at her request) at a Copenhagen show, the Asteroids were signed to Universal, which released their debut single, "The Sun Ain't Shining No More," in 2008. As the Asteroids were preparing their debut album and expanding their live lineup to a six-piece, the retro-party single was featured in a television commercial for Apple's iPod Touch. Fruit, which arrived in 2009, included the single "The Sun Ain't Shining No More"; the band's sophomore album, 2012's Out of Frequency, found the band moving in a more expansive, sophisticated direction. ~ David Jeffries

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour is an indie and psychedelic pop band from Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen. They formed in 2007 and have built a reputation of their songs featuring in Film, TV and Commercials.

It was in their formative years that the band decided to record a demo. The demo was heard by Amy Winehouse’ management, who asked the group to open for her in Copenhagen. This was the band’s first live show, and soon after, their track “Around the Bend” was chosen by Apple to be used in the new iPod Touch commercial and to be aired worldwide from December 2008. After the success of the commercial, this track became the band’s biggest single to date helping to launch the band onto the international stage. They even supported Katy Perry on her 2009 summer tour in Europe.

The band has had a lot of promotion, with their works being used in TV commercials, Film and TV shows. Myer, Australia’s largest department store chain used the song “the Golden Age" to launch their 2009 summer range and SBS Television used the song “The Golden Age” to promote the U.S. television series, Mad Men. Even Heineken International used the song in the 2011 commercial, “The Entrance” where the band in fact featured in the commercial.

“Around the Bend" is featured in the Anna Wintour documentary movie, The September Issue which was released in 2009. In 2008, three songs by the band were featured on the Gossip Girl episode “It’s a Wonderful Life”. “Around the Bend" was featured in the NBC TV series Chuck in episode 209. “The Sun Ain’t Shining No More” has been selected as the theme song of the Canadian action comedy television series InSecurity, which premiered on January 4th 2011.

The band has experienced chart success with their song “The Golden Age” which became a hit in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, UK, Canada and the US. They released an album called “Bring Us Together” on September 15th 2014.

Shooting to some kind of fame after ‘The Golden Age’ was used to market a popular beer, all the hard work put in by Danish act Asteroids Galaxy Tour since forming in 2007 has finally started to pay off. The core duo of Mette Lindberg and Lars Iversen write complex pop songs with killer hooks filling their albums Fruit and Out of Frequency with great songs that could really all be used to market whatever you like, such is the power of the band’s catchy hooks. Some of AGT’s songs have been used during rather well-known TV programmes like Chuck and Gossip Girl, while Mette herself appeared as a guest on Never Mind the Buzzcocks back in 2008. But never mind all that, what about the music itself? Well, Mette Lindberg is the one to watch, a bundle of energy and in possession of a powerful voice that one moment can sound helium-filled, the next she’s belting songs out like a soul singer. They will of course play ‘The Golden Age’, its swinging 60s feel supplemented by a dose of electronica but there’s also the giddy ‘Heart Attack’ which has crazy synths burbling over a little garage rock riff and the set will close out with the funky brass attack of ‘Major’ – which, in fact, is by far their best song. It will probably turn out that you know more Asteroids Galaxy Tour songs than you think – and the ones you don’t? Well, that’s just a bonus.

Despite sounding more like a live schedule than a band, Danish pop outfit The Asteroids Galaxy Tour have forged quite a reputation for themselves following the release of their debut album 'Fruit' in 2009. The brain child of vocalist and producer Mette Lindberg and Lars Iversen, TAGT have become known through central Europe as one of the liveliest and most involving acts on the circuit.

Bounding onstage in a wash of colour and sound, the five musicians take their place and warmly greet the crowd before performing a double opener of 'Hero' and 'Push The Envelope'. The energy is clearly infectious and the audience are beginning to move, jump and even dance in places under the command of the likeable Mette. They work through a setlist primarily comprising of tracks from 'Fruit' yet there is some new music showcased this evening with similarly shiny production and infectious melodic hooks. There is no doubt that The Asteriods Galaxy Tour are one of the most fun artists currently working.

The band that inspired my passion for live music was THE PHOTOS, I first saw them at the marquee 1980 even saw U2 support them once.

I’ve been hooked on Aweditorium , the most amazing music app, ever since the iPad 2 arrived last week. It overwhelms the mind – and eye – with great music from lesser-known artists.

This afternoon I discovered The Asteroids Galaxy Tour , an edgy, quirky, alternative pop band from Copenhagen. Mette, the lead singer, is so addictive! I love listening to her voice and their songs are fun and energetic. And how awesome is this video for ‘The Golden Age’..so trippy :

Loved them so much and thanks to Google, I did a quick search = now I have tickets to their next gig in London. It takes place in May 😀

I can’t wait! There’s so much dancing to do!

Comicpalooza, the largest annual pop culture festival in the southern United States, is home to thousands of comic book, science, anime, and gaming fanatics in Houston. Guests have the opportunity to celebrate their passions through a variety of entertainment, panels, and meet and greets.

NASA’s Johnson Space Center has participated in Comicpalooza’s festivities for the last decade, giving attendees the chance to interact with NASA experts and learn more about human space exploration and the agency’s mission.

Over 52,000 fans attended this year’s Comicpalooza, held May 24-26 at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center. NASA shared with them the exhilarating future of the Artemis campaign that will take humans further in space exploration than ever before, plans for human exploration of the Moon and Mars, and showcased innovative spacesuits, lunar terrain vehicles, and spacewalk tools. Fans also had an opportunity to meet and take photos with NASA astronaut Marcos Berríos.

The NASA exhibit featured immersive experiences with the Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program; Exploration Architecture, Integration, and Science Directorate; Human Health and Performance Directorate; and STEM engagement programs. These unique exhibits provided guests with insight into the exciting opportunities and discoveries ahead for human spaceflight. NASA’s presence at Comicpalooza also caught the attention of legendary Hollywood actor Christopher Lloyd, who met NASA officials and participated in a tour of Johnson Space Center after the event concluded.

NASA’s exclusive Comicpalooza stage featured 13 unique panels and discussions from agency experts, programs, and Berríos. These panels included:

• The Development of Lunar Base Camp: NASA scientists discussed how future robotic and human explorers will put in place infrastructure for a long-term sustainable presence on the Moon.
• Driving on the Moon One Day: A discussion about the latest technology and partnerships that will develop the next mobility systems on the Moon.
• Another One Bites the Dust: Lunar Dust, Hardware Damage, and Why It Matters on the Moon : Lunar dust mitigation engineers and scientists talked about some of the risks of working on the Moon, what happened during Apollo, and what they plan to do about hardware damage, which threatens their efforts to keep astronauts safe and ensure mission success.
• Meet an Astronaut: NASA astronaut Marcos Berríos hosted a panel about his journey to becoming an astronaut, what he is doing at NASA during his training period, and what is next for him in the future. A Q&A session followed the presentation and guests had the opportunity to learn more about Marcos.
• Why It’s Hard to get to Mars : A discussion on why it is so difficult to get to the “Red Planet” and what technologies and strategies NASA is developing to accomplish this goal.
• Landing on the Moon: A panel onwhy landing on the Moon remains a challenge and what the future looks like for additional lunar landings and activities.
• International Space Station Mimic : Engineers and educators talked about a 3D printed, robotic model that syncs to live telemetry streaming from the real International Space Station in real-time.
• My NASA Story: An early career perspective on launching a career at Johnson Space Center. Panelists discussed how they got to where they are, and what their jobs look like on a daily basis.
• Artemis Overview: An overview on the Artemis campaign and its future, which includes landing the first woman and first person of color on the Moon. Through the Artemis missions, NASA will use new technology to study the Moon in new and better ways and prepare for human missions to Mars.
• Draw Artemis: A panel of experts hosted a “draw along” as they discussed humanity’s voyage back to the Moon, the key role art plays in exploration, and the otherworldly environment of the Moon’s South Pole.

NASA’s participation in Comicpalooza educates and excites the public about the agency’s mission and inspires people who want to be a part of space exploration in their own unique ways.

‘Completely heartsick’ Jennifer Lopez cancels summer tour to spend time with family

Jennifer Lopez’s embattled “This is Me ... Live” tour has been canceled before it began.

The actor-singer’s 2024 summer tour was scrapped so that Lopez can take “time off to be with her children, family and close friends,” representatives for concert giant Live Nation announced Friday.

Jennifer Lopez won’t officially launch her This Is Me...Now tour until the summer, but the singer’s lineup of shows has already undergone multiple scheduling changes.

“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” the Grammy Award winner said Friday in a message to fans through her OntheJLo newsletter.

“Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…,” she wrote.

The cancellation comes amid reports of disappointing sales for the tour, which was announced in February and pegged to the “Jenny From the Block” singer’s “This is Me ... Now” album and film . From there, the 54-year-old performer and Live Nation pivoted, canceling several stops in March and rebranding the tour in April as a greatest hits outing.

However, The Times confirmed Friday through a person close to Lopez that sales were not a factor in the cancellation decision and that the tour had been seeing an uptick in ticket sales in key cities.

Jennifer Lopez launched a new trailer for her autobiographical musical movie, “This Is Me ... Now: A Love Story,” which comes out on Feb. 16.

The news comes amid proliferating reports that Lopez and her husband, Oscar winner Ben Affleck, who tied the knot in 2022, are struggling in their marriage and believed to be living apart. (The couple was initially engaged in the early 2000s, and the former flames rekindled their romance for Bennifer 2.0 in 2021.)

Neither Lopez nor Affleck has publicly commented about split reports — aside from her chiding a reporter for asking about it while she promoted her Netflix film “Atlas” last week — and their representatives did not comment on the state of the marriage when reached Friday by The Times.

Live Nation on Friday said ticket holders who purchased their tickets through Ticketmaster would receive automatic refunds. Those who purchased via third-party resale sites should reach out to their point of purchase for more details.
