I come here a few times with my family. I recommend ordering a few dishes between 7 people as the portions are quite large. Many of the dishes are quite similar as they include the same vegetables. Service is quite slow but asking the waiter... if any of the dishes are ready usually works. I recommend the crab and sweetcorn soup as well as the noodle soup. This restaurant works well as a comfort food place. More

We've been coming here for years, they have some excellent unique dishes off the chinese menu. Some of the best chinese food in town, south of downtown. Get the prawns with special sauce, eggplant, tofu and scallop hot pot, green beans and beef, ginger fried... beef More

I was recently in Lake Bonavista for an appointment. After the appointment, I was very hungry, as I'd skipped breakfast. Although it was only 11 a.m., Bonavista Peking House was already opening up for the day, and I spotted a sign on the sidewalk that... promised lunch buffet for $9.95 (weekdays only). Perfect timing, and a great price to boot! I walked in, snagged a table near the mall entrance, and in a few minutes the buffet was ready. The choices included won ton soup, spring rolls, dumplings, fried rice, shanghai noodles, ginger beef, mixed vegggie stir-fry, and sweet & sour chicken (I think). Everything was fresh, hot & tasty. The ginger beef actually tasted of ginger, and the meat was tender not stringy - two definite pluses. I was in & out in 20 minutes; I would have had no problem staying longer but I had places to go. My bill (including tax & pop) was roughly $12 for a sit-down meal that was far nicer than the food court fare that I often grab at lunch. If I'm in the area again, I'd be happy to return to Bonavista Peking House for the lunch buffet. They also offer a box lunch from the buffet (not including soup) so if you're really short on time, you can just grab some tasty food & head on to your next stop. We paid almost $60.00 for 3 small dishes. Very little seafood or chicken in two of the dishes. Might as well go home and stir fry some celery and carrots and sprinkle some soy sauce and call it a meal. Way overpriced for what you... get. More

The noodles in the Cantonese Chow Mein weren’t cooked properly, 1/3 of the noodles were hard, right out of the package. The chicken fried rice was nothing more than yellow rice,with a minuscule amount of anything else. And the beef in black bean container was... about 2/3 full. NEVER AGAIN. More

The owner not a delivery person came back to argue about his tip. When i got into a screaming match with him say just f'n leave my property he offered to fight me.

We have ordered from here for years. I just wanted to share our horrific experience we had with the Bonavista Peking House. Our order was delivered, the delivery guy left, then we started unpacking our order and noticed we were missing 2 dishes. My mom... called to let them immediately to let them know. The guy she spoke with implied that she was a liar, and he said they sent everything. We went through the dishes and found we were definitely missing 2 dishes, that were ordered and paid for as shown on the receipt. They decided to send the dishes. However, the delivery guy then proceeded to tell us we needed to pay him again, for something we already paid for. Long story short, it was implied that my mom was not only a liar, but a thief as well. This is not right by any means, and is despicable behaviour by a business owner. We even offered to have the guy come in and go through the dishes with us. He refused. In the end, it isn’t about the dishes or the $30 cost for the dishes, it is the fact that the owner implied my mother was a liar and a thief. My mother is not a liar, nor a thief. It was the restaurants mistake, and they should have owned up to their mistake; especially when our receipt stood as proof. It was a $200 food order. They should treat their customers with respect and not tell them they are liars and imply they are a thief, and are taking what they haven't purchased. It would appear the restaurant owner is the liar and thief. We showed the receipt. We were not rude, that is, until you implied my mother was a liar and a thief, once that happened, then I got mad. If you order from here, then check your order carefully. Use your receipt as you go through your order with the delivery guy to ensure you have received everything you had ordered and paid for. Do not tip and let the delivery guy depart before reviewing your order with him. Otherwise, if you are missing anything, and call to inform them, then you can expect to be called a liar and a thief as well. We definitely will not be giving our business to Bonavista Peking House in the future, and recommend people avoid this place, unless one day they may experience what we did. We've tried a number of other locations but keep coming back to Bonavista Peking House. We mostly order in but have dined in the restaurant a number of times. I can't count how many times we've ordered their take-out but we haven't been disappointed once.... Keep up the great work. More

We were in from Medicine Hat visiting friends and decided to take them out to dinner. It was decided to go to this restaurant, Bonavista Peking House. Upon entry, they were very welcoming and one could not but notice how clean and tidy it was.... What was disconcerting was that we were obviously the only table going to be occupied in quite a large dining room--this is not usually a good sign. However, we ordered dinner for six--got far more than we needed and it was absolutely delicious--especially the ginger beef and the boneless sweet and sour ribs. The shocker came when the bill was less than $130 for six people. Needless to say, we left a sizeable tip. Covid has obviously had an adverse effect on their client base because when we were there a few times prior to Covid the dining room was full. So, I truly encourage you don't forget about this restaurant and rediscover it as the service and food are absolutely excellent. More

Open late - in the promenade mall so if doors are locked just go through little Caesar’s. Service sucked... communication Barrier. Food was pretty good and big portions.

....making it a little hard to find but worth it. Had the $12.95 lunch buffet with 2 friends. Good choice of food and was hot & fresh. Good service. Cleam. Great dumplings!

Yeah. Finally, someone who knows how to properly flavor ginger beef. This was a home delivery (nice man at the door: thank you!) and all the food was hot. The so-called fried rice (yellow), was bland. So were the angel-hair noodles. Boring. The rest was... OK. Not stellar, for sure, but acceptable. Gimme more of that ginger beef! We ordered Chinese food for six people from the restaurant, a regular for my relatives. It was delivered on time, hot and fresh. All of the dishes, from Singapore noodles to vegetarian dishes and fried rice were very good. Nice balance of spices and sauces.... Good sized helpings. More

First visit. Went for dinner - seated immediately, service prompt and thorough, not particularly friendly though. We shared a large wor won-ton soup, ginger beef and rice. Soup was good, lots of won-tons and other veg and meat....could have been hotter and broth more flavourful.... Ginger beef was not as crisp as we like it, but also good. All in all we will return and try other items. More

12.95 buffet lunch. It was just the right amount of food. No waist and done to perfection. The two waiters that helped us we’re always busy cleaning tables and welcoming new guests to the restaurant. I did have trouble with the credit card machine after... a few tries it did work. We were not rushed and had a very nice time. Very very clean washrooms and you could tell they had just been claimed. I would definitely go again. More
