Focus Of Our Student Tours

The focus of our student tours is trifold: musical, cultural and educational. We believe that music is truly an “international language”. Our concerts provide a basis to bridge the gap between languages and cultures so that, at least on the musical level, the participants and audience connect and communicate. The numerous cultural and educational experiences built into each tour range from folkloric evenings to visits to castles and World War II concentration camps.

exceptional music performance

American music abroad strives to not only give the participating students an expanded view of the world and an exceptional music performance experience, but also encourages self-reliance within a group atmosphere. it is our goal to see the students grow into responsible and mature young adults as a result of the tour..

The iconic multi-platinum-selling group America will celebrate their 54 th anniversary with a series of tour dates in 2024. Known for their timeless magic and powerful performances, the Grammy Award-winning perennial classic-rock favorite will draw on their deep catalog of hits including signature song “A Horse With No Name,” a Number One hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 in 1972.

On their way to becoming a global household name, America’s journey found them exploring a wide variety of musical terrain. Their best-known tunes, which also include “I Need You,” “Ventura Highway,” “Don’t Cross The River,” “Tin Man,” “Lonely People,” and “Sister Golden Hair” were cornerstones of 1970’s Top 40 and FM rock radio. Yet beyond their impressive catalog of hits, listeners would discover there was always much more to America than surface perceptions. The combination of melodic pop rock and folk-jazz elements, slinky Latin-leaning rhythms and impressionistic lyric imagery contrasted well with other more traditional country-rock leanings and highly personal lyrics.

America’s albums–six certified gold and/or platinum, with their first greatest hits collection, History, hitting four plus million in sales–displayed a fuller range of the trio’s talents than did their singles. Their material encompassed an ambitious artistic swath; from effects-laden rockers to oddball medleys to soul-bearing ballads, America displayed a flawless blend of disparate genres and styles as wide-open as the great American plains.

From their formative years, America has been a band capable of transcending borders with its uplifting music and positive message. Embracing a rainbow of divergent cultures, America’s audiences continue to grow, comprising a loyal legion of first, second and third generation fans, all bearing testament to the group’s enduring appeal.

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band Relaunch European Trek in Madrid, Give Two Songs Their Tour Debut

by Matt Friedlander June 13, 2024, 2:32 pm

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band returned to the road on Wednesday, June 12, at Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid after postponing four shows on their current European tour leg because the Boss was experiencing “vocal issues.”

Videos by American Songwriter

Springsteen appeared to be back in great form as he and his group delivered a 30-song set. According to Setlist.fm , the show included the tour debut of two songs Bruce hadn’t played with the E Street Band in many years—“Frankie Fell in Love” and the John Fogerty solo gem “Rockin’ All Over the World.”

[Buy Bruce Springsteen Concert Tickets]

“Frankie Fell in Love” was a song featured on Springsteen’s 2014 album High Hopes. The last time he’d performed the tune with the E Street Band in concert was in May of 2014 in Uncasville, Connecticut.

“Rockin’ All Over the World” is a song that was first featured on Fogerty’s self-titled 1975 solo album. Springsteen began playing the tune in concert in 1981, and had performed it dozens of times over the years. That being said, the last time he’d included it in a set with the E Street Band was at a September 2016 show in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

You can check out fan-shot footage of both performances on YouTube, and below.

About the Postponed Concerts

Prior to the Madrid concert, the last show Springsteen and the E Street Band played was on May 22 in Sunderland, England. After that gig, Bruce was advised by doctors not to perform for 10 days because he had strained his voice. The four concerts that were postponed had been scheduled for May 25 in Marseille, France; May 28 in Prague, Czech Republic; and June 1 and June 3 in Milan, Italy. Those shows have all been rescheduled for 2025 .

About Springsteen’s Upcoming Tour Plans

Springsteen and the E Street Band have two more concerts scheduled in Madrid, on June 14 and June 17. As previously reported, the 2024 European trek is mapped out through a July 27 show at Wembley Stadium in London.

Later this summer, the Boss and his group will mount a second 2024 U.S. leg. That’s scheduled from an August 15 concert in Pittsburgh through a September 15 performance in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Springsteen and the E Street Ban will close out the year with a fall Canadian trek that runs from an October 31 show in Montreal through a November 22 gig in Vancouver. Visit BruceSpringsteen.net to check out his full itinerary.

Tickets for Springsteen’s concerts are available for purchase via a variety of outlets, including StubHub .

Keanu Reeves' band Dogstar announces summer 2024 tour for their first album in 20 years

america band european tour

Keanu Reeves and his band Dogstar are going back on the road.

Following the group's first performance in 20 years last summer, Dogstar announced Tuesday that its members are embarking on the Summer Vacation Tour 2024 across North America.

"We can’t wait to see everyone! Thank you all for all the love and support," drummer Rob Mailhouse commented under the band's Instagram post. "We can feel it every time we take the stage. ❤️"

Dogstar, currently on tour in Europe, will be visiting 29 cities starting with the Indiana State Fair on Aug. 8. Their last show is Dana Point, California's Ohana Fest on Sept. 27.

The pre-sale begins Wednesday at noon local time; tickets can be found at dogstarofficial.com .

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Last October, Dogstar — which comprises Reeves, Mailhouse and guitarist/vocalist Bret Domrose — came out with its first album in two decades, a 12-track record titled "Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees." It was released by their own label, Dillon Street Records and featured their single "Everything Turns Around."

The "John Wick" star, the alt-rock band's bassist, formed the band with Mailhouse and the group's original guitarist and lead singer Gregg Miller in 1991.

Before ending their 20-year hiatus with a performance at BottleRock Napa Valley music festival in northern California last May, Reeves told  Billboard  that being with Dogstar was "something I’ve always missed."

"I missed playing together, I missed writing together, I missed doing shows together," he said. "We came to a spot where we weren’t playing anymore, and I missed it … Once we started to play, and it felt good, and really positive and creative, that’s when it was like, 'OK, let’s make this happen.'"

"I think all three of us just said, ‘Well, if we’re going to do this, let’s make a record,'" Reeves said. Domrose added, "We just knew that there was ‘X’ amount of time, and we needed to make the most of it. We just locked on as wanting to make this record, and it happened pretty quickly."

At the Napa Valley festival, the band played tracks from the previous albums, 1996’s "Our Little Visionary" and 2000’s "Happy Ending," as well as several songs from their yet-unreleased "Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees."

Three months later, Dogstar went on to tour two dozen cities in North America and Japan in its Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees Tour.

British folk-rock trio, America, came into prominence in the 1970s, following their debut hit single, "A Horse with No Name," channeling the likes of Neil Young and the Everly Brothers into their music.

Formed by vocalists/guitarists Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek and Greg Beckley, America gained several top ten hits with their soft, lilting melodies and gentle harmonies that floated over their folk-tinged soft rock. The band gained their first exposure after landing a contract with Jeff Dexter, promotor for the Roundhouse concert venue in london, securing the trio high profile support slots at the venue. Soon they were in the studio, recording their debut album by 1970.

With their debut single, America had a hit on their hands, with "A Horse With No Name" becoming a number three hit in the UK in 1972. Their self-titled debut album equally charted well, peaking at number 14. Revved up by their success in the UK, America soon set their sights on conquering the US, supporting the Everly Brothers on their national tour. Their single was then released in the US, becoming a number one hit, establishing the band across the pond. Their second single, "I Need You" and third single "Ventura Highway" became top ten hits, proving the band can produce consistently quality music. These initial successes were acknowledged by the Grammy Awards, receiving an award for "Best New Artist" in 1972.

Their second album, "homecoming," released in January 1973, failed to maintain the momentum of their previous records, unable to break into the top ten of the American charts. However, their next record, this time aided by producer George Martin, sent them back to fame, with "Holiday" peaking at number three and featuring the hit singles, "Tin Man" and "Lonely People." They gained their second number one hit with the single, "Sister Golden Hair," from the 1975 album, "Hearts," releasing a greatest hits album that same year which sold over four million copies.

The latter half of the decade saw popularity for America begin to wane, although they still released a Gold-certified record, "Hideaway," in 1976 and had a handful of top 40 hits through to the mid-1980s. Entering the new millennium, the trio released a set of live albums as well as the encompassing, extensive box set, "Highway," which covered the whole of their career to that point. They were brought back to the studio by longtime fans, Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne and James Iha of the Smashing Pumpkins, recording their 2007 album, "Here & Now." The album featured guest artists who had been inspired by America, including Ryan Adams and Nada Surf.

Sadly in 2011, Dan Peek died at the age of 60. The band's legacy and influence was acknowledged through their indictment to the Vocal Group oHall of Fame, as well as receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

America is a band I had the privilege of seeing several times back in the seventies. I was in high school when they released " A horse with no name". I saw them at an outdoor arena with a small amount of actual seats but with a Huge grassy area for seating. The Summer of Love (1969) was not that far in the past and a lot of folks were smoking pot on the lawn and just relaxing and having a good time.

Folk music was still pretty popular at the time and although America was not exactly a "Folk" band; they were a kinda of early "Folk/Rock" band. Their mix of acoustic guitars was one of the best parts of the performance. Their vocals are amazing. To this day;forty some years later; I still like to hear their music.

I saw them not long after their debut album came out so they did not have as many songs as they did later in their career. I caught them at another venue some years later and they had a much fuller set list with several "hit" songs. Most of the folks in the audience really enjoyed the show...as did I! The crowd all sand along when they played "Horse with no name". Most venues do not allow drinking these days (let alone "smoking") so the crowd was not quite as laid back. Still...many in the audience knew the lyrics and sang along.

It was great to hear the old songs again but not sure this was the right venue. Very reserved performance. It was more of a medley of their biggest hits rather than a concert. A couple of times they let their guard down and jammed a little but for the most part they played 4/5ths of each hit and moved on to the next song quickly. It was very obvious they were on the clock. Brought back some great memories though so all in all not a total bust.

Saw them in Dallas and so glad that I did! Brought back so many good memories of high school. They sounded great, it was an awesome outdoor venue and the perfect night. Looking forward to seeing them again soon!

It was a GREAT show! They played all of their hits and more. WOW! I never realized what rockers they really are until last night. Go see THEM! I hope they keep on playing another 50 years.
